Book Synopsis The Management of Child Protection Services by : Robert Sanders
Download or read book The Management of Child Protection Services written by Robert Sanders and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-05-23 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1999, The Management of Child Protection Services is not about child abuse but about child protection. It is about the arrangements that professionals from different disciplines make to ensure they operate together effectively to protect the most vulnerable children in society. The book examines five different contexts of child protection: historical, cross-cultural, structural, managerial and professional and consideration of the operation of Area Child Protection Committees. In exploring these contexts, the book seeks to address such questions as: ‘how can universal standards be applied to protect vulnerable children whilst avoiding ethnocentrism?’ and ‘from where are derived, historically, and cross-culturally, the models of child protection adopted in the UK today?’ It also seeks to identify the different professional contexts, roles and contributions of agencies involved in child protection, with a view to promoting interdisciplinary understanding. These questions and understandings are necessary if changes currently being contemplated are to enhance the effectiveness of child protection.

Book Synopsis Reassessing Social Work Practice with Children by : John Pardeck
Download or read book Reassessing Social Work Practice with Children written by John Pardeck and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-07-21 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical and mental abuse, gang-related violence, homelessness and neglect are just a few of the dangers that a child must face. Child welfare officers, school social workers, and family service providers have been the primary line of defense against these hazards, but in order to provide a more effective form of social care, these fields must be seen as an integrated whole. They must also have the skill to act as multidisciplinary teams. Taken from an issue of the journal Early Child Development and Care, Reassessing Social Work Practice with Children provides professionals with a dynamic orientation that offers a holistic approach to social work practice with children. This view encompasses any and all measures of practice designed to protect and promote the bio-psycho-social development of children, including education, protective services, and substitutive services.
