The covenant that was meant to keep the wizard wars at bay has been stolen, and Trinity must prepare for attack. Everyone is doing their part—Seph is monitoring the Weirwalls, Jack and Ellen are training their ghostly army, even Anaweir Will and Fitch are setting booby traps around the town's perimeter. But to Jason Haley it seems like everyone wants to keep him out of the action. He may not be the most powerful wizard in Trinity, but he's prepared to fight for his friends. Everything changes when Jason finds a powerful talisman—a huge opal called the Dragonheart—buried in a cave. The stone seems to sing to Jason's very soul, showing him that he is meant for more than anyone knew. Moral compasses spin out of control as a final battle storms through what was once a sanctuary for the gifted. With so much to lose, what will the people of Trinity be willing to fight for—and what will they sacrifice?
Book Synopsis The Catching Point Transformation by : J. David Prologo MD
Download or read book The Catching Point Transformation written by J. David Prologo MD and published by Post Hill Press. This book was released on 2022-01-11 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Dr. Prologo targets sustainability. He elevates our science-based weight-loss programs by keeping people engaged.” —Arthur Agatston, MD, author of The South Beach Diet Ninety-nine percent of diets fail because our bodies resist the change in the name of survival. “Stop with the rice cakes and boot camp already—we are starving to death!” It’s like holding your breath underwater. We can endure it for a short time against the body’s will to survive, but the longer you stay there, the louder and more crushing the signals get, until you finally burst to the surface for air (or into a fast food restaurant, the pantry, or a refrigerator, in the case of dieting). The Catching Point Transformation was created to ease this transition and quiet the body’s resistance so that everyone can have fun, feel confident, and be successful when engaged with healthy living. It levels the playing ground for those who are trying to make a change with those who are already lean. Dr. Prologo understands and believes you when you say “no diet works for me,” and so has finally created a different approach.
Book Synopsis Human Survivability of Extreme Impacts in Free-fall by : Richard G. Snyder
Download or read book Human Survivability of Extreme Impacts in Free-fall written by Richard G. Snyder and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Human deceleration tolerances beyond the limits imposed by voluntary experimental methods were studied by means of intensive case histories of 137 individuals who have survived extremely abrupt impacts in accidental, suicidal, and homicidal free-falls. Fall distances ranged up to 275' and calculated velocities up to 116 ft/sec (79 mph). Physical and biological data are presented on both sexes with an age range of 1 1/2 to 91 years, and with impacts occurring in all body axis orientations. A detailed analysis of factors found to affect survivability in free-fall impacts is made. These cases, out of some 12,000 free-falls collected in the past two years, demonstrate that humans have survived impact forces considerably greater than those previously believed tolerable."--Abstract.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All too often, through common school mathematics, students find themselves excelling in school math classes by memorizing formulas, but not their applications or the motivation behind them. As a consequence, understanding derived in this manner is tragically based on little or no proof. This is why studying proofs is paramount! Proofs help us understand the nature of mathematics and show us the key to appreciating its elegance. But even getting past the concern of "why should this be true?" students often face the question of "when will I ever need this in life?" Proofs in Competition Math aims to remedy these issues at a wide range of levels, from the fundamentals of competition math all the way to the Olympiad level and beyond. Don't worry if you don't know all of the math in this book; there will be prerequisites for each skill level, giving you a better idea of your current strengths and weaknesses and allowing you to set realistic goals as a math student. So, mathematical minds, we set you off!

True, Josey had wanted to skip town when her sister married her ex, and her secret crush/best friend got engaged. But Russia? Yet after a few weeks the idea grew on her. She could speak enough words to buy fruit at the Moscow market, and the missionary role was feeling...right (although her bagel-thieving roommate tested her daily). Even the frosty Russian weather was no big deal for this Minnesota girl — it was getting her love life to thaw that was the real challenge!

Book excerpt: For the first time, all five novels in the epic fantasy series that inspired HBO’s Game of Thrones are together in one eBook bundle. An immersive entertainment experience unlike any other, A Song of Ice and Fire has earned George R. R. Martin—dubbed “the American Tolkien” by Time magazine—international acclaim and millions of loyal readers. Now this bundle collects the entire monumental cycle in the most convenient format available: A GAME OF THRONES A CLASH OF KINGS A STORM OF SWORDS A FEAST FOR CROWS A DANCE WITH DRAGONS “One of the best series in the history of fantasy.”—Los Angeles Times Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister—the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki—whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys. “Long live George Martin . . . a literary dervish, enthralled by complicated characters and vivid language, and bursting with the wild vision of the very best tale tellers.”—The New York Times
