Know your material or talking points well and rehearse them beforehand. Practice speaking naturally and comfortably, and familiarize yourself with the camera setup and any technology you'll be using. Dress for Success: Choose clothing that makes you feel confident and professional. Opt for colors and styles that complement your complexion and make you feel comfortable. Avoid distracting patterns or accessories that may take the focus away from your message. Maintain Good Posture and Body Language: Sit or stand up straight with your shoulders back and head held high. Good posture not only exudes confidence but also helps you breathe more easily and project your voice effectively. Use open and inviting body language to engage your audience. Make Eye Contact: Treat the camera lens as if it were an actual person and make eye contact with it. This creates a connection with your audience and conveys confidence and sincerity.

The best way to connect with someone and build trust, is in person. And when that's not an option, the second best way to connect and build trust is with video. Online videos have exponentially more engagement than pictures and written text. Videos are used by companies of every size. Consumers expect/demand video. Most people are uncomfortable being on camera. There are countless ways to be bad on camera and most people make mistakes they don't even realize. There's no question that everyone in business, from Fortune 100 companies to solopreneurs, can leverage video to connect better with your target market, as well as existing customers. The problem is that most people aren't comfortable being on camera. Then an even bigger problem is that, once people come to grips with the fact that they have to be on camera, most people make mistakes that send the wrong message to the viewer. And the crazy part is that they have no idea they're sending a negative message on camera. Great On Camera is all about understanding everything you need to know so you can be your best on camera, connect with your target market, build trust, and make sales.

Book excerpt: INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER From the New York Times bestselling author of I'm Judging You, a hilarious and transformational book about how to tackle fear--that everlasting hater--and audaciously step into lives, careers, and legacies that go beyond even our wildest dreams Luvvie Ajayi Jones is known for her trademark wit, warmth, and perpetual truth-telling. But even she's been challenged by the enemy of progress known as fear. She was once afraid to call herself a writer, and nearly skipped out on doing a TED talk that changed her life because of imposter syndrome. As she shares in Professional Troublemaker, she's not alone. We're all afraid. We're afraid of asking for what we want because we're afraid of hearing "no." We're afraid of being different, of being too much or not enough. We're afraid of leaving behind the known for the unknown. But in order to do the things that will truly, meaningfully change our lives, we have to become professional troublemakers: people who are committed to not letting fear talk them out of the things they need to do or say to live free. With humor and honesty, and guided by the influence of her professional troublemaking Nigerian grandmother, Funmilayo Faloyin, Luvvie walks us through what we must get right within ourselves before we can do the things that scare us; how to use our voice for a greater good; and how to put movement to the voice we've been silencing--because truth-telling is a muscle. The point is not to be fearless, but to know we are afraid and charge forward regardless. It is to recognize that the things we must do are more significant than our fears. This book is about how to live boldly in spite of all the reasons we have to cower. Let's go!

The answer isn’t a new camera–it’s learning to use the one you’ve got! After all, it's not the camera that takes great photos–it's the person behind it. With Your Camera Loves You: Learn to Love it Back, photographer and instructor Khara Plicanic teaches the basics of photography and digital camera functions that you can apply to any camera, anywhere, any time–answering questions like: What do all those different modes mean and when do I use them? What’s a megapixel and why should I care? Follow along with Khara’s simple explanations of shutter speed, aperture, and shooting modes to get comfortable handling your camera (even bossing it around a bit!), learn to shoot images that tell a story, and understand the thought process involved in making a great photograph. Along the way you’ll learn techniques for improving those yellow dingy photos of your kids’ indoor sporting events, fixing exposure on shots that are too dark or too bright, avoiding the dangers of over-cropping, and much more. By the time you’re finished, you’ll know how to best use the features of whatever camera you already have–whether it’s a high-performance DSLR or a basic point-and-shoot camera. Get ready to fall in love with your camera (and photography) all over again! With Your Camera Loves You, you will: • Move beyond “Auto” mode to take advantage of more of your camera’s features and settings • Discover that the key to getting great images isn’t by using a fancy DSLR but by learning your way around whatever camera you have • Learn from Khara’s fun, friendly voice and techno-babble-free explanations how to easily improve your photos And as you learn, share your progress by posting your photos at flickr.com/groups/yourcameralovesyou/.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical teaching and stories related to the author's life experience teach you how to overcome your hesitancy in photographing people. Shy photographers know how uncomfortable it is being photographed. Naturally, we should be more sensitive, more empathetic, and therefore more capable of creating portraits with depth and feeling. Photographing People - A Guide For Shy Photographers is intended to encourage you to take photos of people. Experience has taught me to overcome the feeling of not wanting to impose when I point my camera in the direction of a person. It's also taught me this fear is common, particularly amongst shy photographers. The book, divided into four sections, is designed to guide you through the adventure of learning to photograph people. Each section demonstrates and teaches how you can overcome the fear of not wanting to impose. You will learn how to manage your camera well. You will also learn how to manage your thoughts effectively to deal with the unnecessary fear that inhibits shy photographers from photographing people. My first review: The photos of people I've taken on my travels are my favorite souvenirs. Along the way, though, I know I've missed so many opportunities because I was unprepared or just too shy to ask if I could take a photo. In this book, Kevin describes how he personally overcame shyness to become the awesome portrait photographer that he is. In this down to earth and easy to read text, Kevin provides practical advice on how to be prepared as well as how to approach and communicate with people you'd like to photograph. This is an inspiring little book. I read it while traveling in Mexico and, in the two days after finishing it, I approached three people for photos and, using Kevin's suggestions, they all said "Yes". If you love taking photos of people, you will love this book. I can't recommend it enough! Maryellen, Davis, California, USA
