Book excerpt: This book describes in detail the ground-breaking discovery concerning William Shakespeare's real identity, which has been the subject of a recent scientific investigation. Its conclusive result appears in this updated second edition of How Science Proved Edward de Vere was William Shakespeare, by providing irrefutable proof that the 17th Earl of Oxford himself, admitted to having been compelled by Queen Elizabeth I and her first minister Lord Burghley to use the name William Shakespeare as his penname. As a matter of national security, his penname and literary work were both incorporated into the otherwise vacant life of William Shakspere, a resident of Stratford-upon-Avon, a hundred miles distant from London; thereby avoiding a threatened scandal in the Queen's court becoming public knowledge. Combined with the savage recriminations for disobeying censorship at that time, the ruse was a success. And William Shakspere as Shakespeare became grafted onto the line of Tudor history that has survived for more than four centuries. Contemporaries of the Earl of Oxford secretly rebelled at this injustice to English literature by joining with him to bequeath the truth of his authorship to a future generation. The media they used were Oxford's Sonnet 76, his poem as Ignoto in Spenser's Faerie Queene, Thomas Nashe's Strange Newes, and Ben Jonson's opening poem in the First Folio, then in the inscription on the Stratford Monument, and thirdly the verse he composed for Shakspere's Gravestone; to these were added Thomas Thorpe's Dedication prefacing Shake-speares Sonnets, Leonard Digges's Tribute to William Shake-speare, William Marshall's Poem accompanying his illustration of Shakespeare, John Benson's Letter to the Reader in his poems by Wil. Shakespeare Gent, and Sir Aston Cokaine's Dedication in his book of poems. All have one thing in common. They were written in cipher-text using steganography, and employing the same code word, defined as 'Whisper, secret talk'. Seen together, with all having the same key of seventeen, this, in unison, unlocks their secret acclamation: William Shakespeare was Edward de Vere.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The debate over the true author of the Shakespeare canon has raged for centuries. Astonishingly little evidence supports the traditional belief that Will Shakespeare, the actor and businessman from Stratford-upon-Avon, was the author. Legendary figures such as Mark Twain, Walt Whitman and Sigmund Freud have all expressed grave doubts that an uneducated man who apparently owned no books and never left England wrote plays and poems that consistently reflect a learned and well-traveled insider's perspective on royal courts and the ancient feudal nobility. Recent scholarship has turned to Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford-an Elizabethan court playwright known to have written in secret and who had ample means, motive and opportunity to in fact have assumed the "Shakespeare" disguise. "Shakespeare" by Another Name is the literary biography of Edward de Vere as "Shakespeare." This groundbreaking book tells the story of de Vere's action-packed life-as Renaissance man, spendthrift, courtier, wit, student, scoundrel, patron, military adventurer, and, above all, prolific ghostwriter-finding in it the background material for all of The Bard's works. Biographer Mark Anderson incorporates a wealth of new evidence, including de Vere's personal copy of the Bible (in which de Vere underlines scores of passages that are also prominent Shakespearean biblical references).

Book excerpt: Few are aware that the true identity of William Shakespeare represents Western Civilization's greatest mystery. Even fewer realize that the commonly accepted authorship by the illiterate William Shaksper of Stratford is a complete hoax manufactured by England's most powerful politicians. This deception survived largely unscathed until 1920 when J. Thomas Looney's brilliant book, "Shakespeare" Identified, plucked Edward de Vere out of historical obscurity and introduced him to the world as the real Shakespeare. Compiled of authoritative essays and compelling book excerpts, the third volume in this groundbreaking series, Shine Forth salvages fascinating, neglected authorship material which repeatedly and convincingly shows that Edward de Vere was the uniquely creative genius who wrote under the coerced pen name of William Shakespeare. Combating the astonishing power of conventional wisdom, de Vereans have steadily built their case through solid research published in journals and books which have been subject to disappearance by the vicissitudes of time until now. With an impressive bibliography, well-documented sources, and an unshakeable desire to unearth the truth, this volume represents an historic achievement in the scholarship of Shakespearean studies, and reopens the dialogue on this controversial subject.

Book excerpt: The question may be met with chagrin by traditionalists, but the identity of the Bard is not definitely decided. During the 20th century, Edward de Vere, the most flamboyant of the courtier poets, a man of the theater and literary patron, became the leading candidate for an alternative Shakespeare. This text presents the controversial argument for de Vere's authorship of the plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare, offering the available historical evidence and moreover the literary evidence to be found within the works. Divided into sections on the comedies and romances, the histories and the tragedies and poems, this fresh study closely analyzes each of the 39 plays and the sonnets in light of the Oxfordian authorship theory. The vagaries surrounding Shakespeare, including the lack of information about him during his lifetime, especially relating to the "lost years" of 1585-1592, are also analyzed, to further the question of Shakespeare's true identity and the theory of de Vere as the real Bard.

Book excerpt: The Shakespeare Authorship Question has been the subject of heated debate for generations. This concise introduction to the controversy challenges the conventional narrative that Will Shakspere of Stratfordupon- Avon was the author of the works of William Shakespeare. Anyone with natural curiosity will find the case for Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, as the real William Shakespeare a fascinating subject for further investigation. The Clarion Review stated: The book's objective is not to examine every aspect of the de Vere theory in detail, but to condense that material and present its essentials. In service of accomplishing that goal, it includes a thorough list of references and additional reading suggestions for those interested in learning more. "To ask Shakespeare scholars to research the authorship is like asking the College of Cardinals to honestly research the Resurrection." --- Robin Fox, PhD, professor of social theory, Rutgers University

Book excerpt: THE REAL SHAKESPEARE This book proves that Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, wrote the plays we know as “Shakespearean.” In the play “Hamlet,” in a very special coded way, he signed his name “Ver” hundreds of times. These clues in “Hamlet” provide the stamp of his authorship! All of the Shakespearean plays and sonnets reflect incidents in the life of Edward de Vere. The real events in his life involved violence, intrigue and love—and some of them were shocking! In a web of conjecture those incidents have been tied together in a novel about de Vere. This novel is one of the main parts of this book. The other two parts are the proof!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1920 J. Thomas Looney's "Shakespeare" Identified introduced the idea that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, was the man behind the pseudonym "William Shakespeare." This Centenary Edition-with the first new layout since the 1920 U.S. edition-is designed to enhance readers' enjoyment as they make their way through Looney's fascinating account of how he, shining light from a new perspective on facts already known to Shakespeare scholars of his day, uncovered the true story of who "Shakespeare" actually was and how he came to write his works. Even as the centenary of its publication approaches, "Shakespeare" Identified remains the most revolutionary book on Shakespeare ever written. Since its appearance several generations of scholars have deepened and extended Looney's original findings, further substantiating his claim that Edward de Vere was indeed the author of the dramatic and poetic works widely regarded as the greatest in the English language. Perhaps most importantly for scholars, this edition of Looney's classic text identifies the sources of more than 230 passages he quoted from other works, providing readers for the first time with accurate information on the books and papers he consulted in his research. A Bibliography at the end of the book supplements those notes for easy reference to Looney's sources. So if you're new to the Shakespeare authorship question, or even if you've read widely on the subject, get set to enjoy the book that novelist John Galsworthy called the best detective story he had ever read.
