This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study focuses on business-to-consumer (B2C) e-marketing in the publishing industry. Random House CEO Dohle suggested a transition from B2B marketing to B2C marketing and Shatzkin, CEO of The Idea Logical Company, added this transition would be a good way to strengthen brands in publishing, and attract loyal individual consumers. Publishers are already making varying use of the internet and social media in 2011. This research first analyzes existing literature on marketing and e-marketing, particularly in the publishing industry. It then focuses on seven publishers? online presences, and their interaction with individual consumers on the internet and social media, based on the author?s education in computer sciences, management, and publishing. The case study research is exploratory, phenomenological, and framed within an interpretive research paradigm. The findings are recorded in a structured dissertation, with screenshots of the relevant publishers? websites. The seven publishers are categorized according to Bernoff?s stages in Managing Social Technology, and the research findings are linked back to literature, discussed, and best practices are identified. As there is very little literature on B2C e-marketing in the publishing industry, this dissertation sets out to offer information on publishers? efforts in B2C e-marketing: a literature review outlines marketing in the publishing industry, and case studies illustrate seven publishers? B2C e-marketing efforts, thus contributing to closing the gap in literature on publishers? B2C e-marketing. It also sets a foundation for further research on the transition of marketing in publishing, either in qualitative case studies with publishers or quantitative research that is based on consumers? perception of publishers? B2C e-marketing.

Book excerpt: Now fully revised and updated for its sixth edition, Inside Book Publishing is the classic introduction to the book publishing industry. Giles Clark and Angus Phillips offer authoritative coverage of all sectors of the industry, from commercial fiction and non-fiction to educational publishing and academic journals. They reveal how publishers continue to adapt to a fast-changing and highly interconnected world, in which printed books have proved resilient alongside ebooks and the growth of audio. Major themes are explored, including the development of digital products and the use of social media in book marketing, as well as those that affect publishers’ businesses, such as the rise of internet retailing; rental models for student textbooks; and open access, where academic content is free to the user. Case studies from industry experts give fascinating perspectives on topics such as crowdfunding, self-publishing and how authors can market themselves. The book provides excellent overviews of the main aspects of the publishing process: commissioning authors, product development, design and production, marketing, sales and distribution. As a manual for those in the profession and a guide for the potential publishers of the future, Inside Book Publishing remains a seminal work for anyone with an interest in the industry. It will also be of interest to authors seeking an insider’s view of this exciting industry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the Dark Side of the Publishing Industry and Uncover the Biggest Scams in the Business of Self-Publishing with Famous Publishers and Distributors. Only a fraction of authors can truly make a living from their books, and even fewer understand the inner workings of the publishing industry. With my experience of publishing 230 books and establishing my own publishing company, I've witnessed how certain companies manipulate and control the market to their advantage. But don't be discouraged - this book will provide you with the knowledge to fight back and position yourself among the top 0.1% of successful authors. While many authors have chosen to stay silent out of fear that speaking up would harm their image and sales, I believe in sharing the truth. In this eye-opening book, I expose the widespread cowardice within the industry and shed light on the harsh reality that most authors are merely writers seeking self-esteem rather than delivering quality content. I delve deep into the publishing world, unveiling the secrets that few are brave enough to confront. This is not a book filled with baseless accusations or unfounded claims. Instead, it is a reflection of my personal struggle and a decade-long journey to overcome the odds and achieve success as an author. As I uncovered the truth, I realized that it's our choices that define us, not the forces that stand against us. Within these pages, you'll find raw truth and an unfiltered account of my experiences. Though some information may be difficult to prove due to the secretive nature of the industry, the data and logical analysis presented will allow you to draw your own conclusions. It's time to expose the illusion created by bestseller lists and empower both insiders and outsiders to see the publishing world for what it truly is. Join me in this important battle for fairness and transparency. Whether you're an author, a publisher, or an avid reader, let the truth guide your decisions. As Theodore Roosevelt said, "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." Take action now and uncover the dark secrets of the publishing industry.
