Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "God Bless My Horse", the title poem of my book, is a poem that tells how God has blessed this man's horse and by blessing his horse, has blessed the man's entire life, and all the stupid, crazy things he (and I) have ever done. While reading this book, you will see that, not only this poem, but the whole book actually tells the stories from the view of a young man during his developing spiritual journey through life, to an older man, who thrives on his relationship with GOD. Throughout it all, God has always been there! In this book, a lifetime of thoughts, humor, and emotions are written in poetry, with a distinct West Texas flavor, including the unique dialog and colloquialisms of the people of the area. Many of the poems are of the old west, telling tales of cowboys, Native Americans, and horses. Others talk about my working experiences as a lineman and with the oilfields. All the poems are stories of my life experiences and how I talked to God throughout these experiences. Throughout the book is the expression of my strong Christian faith and love for the one true God. It is my expressed wish that anyone who reads this book will not only enjoy the book, but that they will also receive the good news of God's love and grace provided by his son, Jesus.

Book excerpt: As a pastor of Mountain Top Cowboy Church I have discovered that there is little material designed specifically for cowboy churches or cowboy ministries. Although I have been in the ministry for 16 years I had never considered writing a book however the Lord had other plans. In October of 2009 I broke my leg while competing at a 40 and over bull riding which required surgery. I do not believe that it was God's plan for me to ride a bull at the age of 46 but my books are an example that the Lord will use every situation we are in for good if we will allow Him to use us. During my time of recovery I started writing poems and short stories about my rodeo days then it turned to cowboy poetry. In the beginning it was a way to pass the time and deal with my situation. As I continued to write I began to relate my poems to scripture and it was then that the Lord truly began to use them to reach others. After sharing a few with my church I discovered that they could be a useful tool in cowboy churches and ministries or those in the western culture. My first book of poems and proverbs On The Trail was just another example of the Lord's Grace and Mercy in my life. He Holds The Reins is a continuation of that Grace and Mercy. Now that I am On The Trail with Christ I allow Him to take the reins of my life while I ride toward heaven on the narrow trail.

Each poem is an image of a Christian's walk through a world that relentlessly challenges his/her faith in God. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was especially written for spiritual people on a spiritual journey that are receptive to a little poetic philosophy along the way. People that are drowning in a sea of false accusations, riding high in the saddle but can't stand the horse, have big money but low self esteem, living in sin and enjoying every moment, or living right but feeling bad can personally relate to many of the poems in this book. People that are in the throes of affliction but refuse to surrender, this book will become your amen corner while provoking reflection and deep thought. When the big party is over and all your fair-weather guests are gone - this book helps clean up the aftermath. The scrapes, scratches, and healed wounds of life inspired the author to poetically encourage and guide readers through the emotional swampland of tomorrow and fear no evil. These poems do not imply that the road is not rocky and the sky is not cloudy nor will the sun brighten your every day. This book is not intended to eradicate your storms but only to become your umbrella... with only a couple microscopic leaks.

Book excerpt: Untamed Gospel complements The Bright Field and Darkness Yielding, and offers meditations, reflections, stories, prayers and poems for use throughout the church year. Each one focuses on the often startling nature of Jesus’ sayings and teachings, the raw honesty of the psalms and other biblical texts, and on contemporary issues, such as mental health and displacement, seen in the light of the demands of the kingdom of God. A rich resource for worship, preaching, teaching and personal reflection throughout the year, Untamed Gospel contains hundreds of reproducible items, including seasonal reflections, stories, homilies, poems and some of Jim Cotter’s last writings as he was being treated for cancer: a moving sequence of prayer poems inspired by the psalms.

Cherbury writes with an indulgent and cheerful infatuation with horses. Excerpt: "Look, when a painter would surpass the life, In limning out a well-proportioned steed, His art with nature's workmanship at strife, As if the dead the living should exceed; So did this horse excel a common one, In shape, in courage, color, pace, and bone."

Written in ballad form, the work is usually considered one of the last great traditional epic poems ever written in the English language. The poem narrates how Alfred was able to defeat the invading Danes at the Battle of Ethandun under the auspices of God working through the agency of the Virgin Mary. In addition to being a narration of Alfred's military and political accomplishments, it is also considered a Catholic allegory. Chesterton incorporates a significant amount of philosophy into the basic structure of the story. Aeterna Press

Book excerpt: The Ballad of the White Horse is one of the last great epic poems in the English language. On the one hand it describes King Alfred's battle against the Danes in 878. On the other hand it is a timeless allegory about the ongoing battle between Christianity and the forces of nihilistic heathenism. Filled with colorful characters, thrilling battles and mystical visions, it is as lively as it is profound. Chesterton incorporates brilliant imagination, atmosphere, moral concern, chronological continuity, wisdom and fancy. He makes his stanzas reverberate with sound, and hurries his readers into the heart of the battle. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an English writer with a prolific and diverse output which included philosophy, ontology, poetry, play writing, journalism, public lecturing and debating, literary and art criticism, biography, Christian apologetics, and fiction, including fantasy and detective fiction. Chesterton has been called the "prince of paradox." Time magazine, in a review of a biography of Chesterton, observed of his writing style: "Whenever possible Chesterton made his points with popular sayings, proverbs, allegories-first carefully turning them inside out.
