Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Statistical Study of the Age of Horses-Older Horses or Younger Horses, which fare the best? Do older horses tend to run better than younger horses or vice versa. Is there is any relevance to the age of horses when looking through a race card. Race analysts will often comment on the age of the horse, "probably past its best" or "an in-experienced horse" sometimes for the younger horses. In this book I have tried to see if there is any merit in it. Over a period of time 1731 races were analyzed. Taking the three oldest and the three youngest horses in each race and the results analyzed as well as any profit. The results are divided into handicaps, non handicaps, jumps, flat, all weather etc and numbers of runners; 4-7 runners, 8-11 runners, 12-15 runners and 16+ runners. The book contains tables of win and place percentages for each type of race and profits gained or lost. The book does not contain a betting system or any guarantee of profits to be made; just the results of the analyses in tables.

Book excerpt: This is a book of statistics using the Spot Form and the Top Speed ratings for horses of the Racing Post. The results are laid out in a set of tables in this book. The first three Spot Forms and the first three Top Speeds ratings taken from each race of the first six races every day; during a period of just over year; 406 days giving a total of 2436 races. To this I also applied 9 different types of bets; singles, doubles, trebles, patents*2, lucky 15's*2, alpha bets and lucky 63's. This included their Each-Way counterparts as well making 18 bets in all. My aim was to find out which application provided the most winners and which types of bets if applied would produce the most profit. This book shows the end results of this research with 16 tables.

This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These are a look at the percentage rate of the odds horses win and get placed for individual types of races. Where are the odds-on horses coming in, where are the 16/1 shots more likely to fall etc. 2774 races were looked at, less for jumps than flat. 666 jump races, 449 all weather races and 1659 flat races. These were divided into handicaps and non handicaps plus further divided into 4-7 runners, 8-11 runners, 12-15 runners and 16+ runners. The book contains tables showing the results of this for wins and placed. The book further sorts a lot of this information into top 10 and top 20 results in various ways. The book may be useful to show horses you're interested in, depending on what the odds are, if it is a type of race where horses of those odds do well are not as the case may be. However, I must stress this is not a guaranteed way to make money but a helpful guide nevertheless and may help in your overall strategy.

Book excerpt: "Precision ... Statistical and Mathematical Methods in Horse Racing" thoroughly discusses the mathematical and statistical methods in handicapping and betting techniques. Differentiations, combinatorics, normal distribution, kernel smoothing and other mathematical and statistical tools are introduced. The jargons and equations are kept to a minimum so that it is easy to understand for most readers. More than 20 professional programs are freely available to download, which can allow readers to easily apply the methodology introduced in the book. This book can be divided into three main parts: horse handicapping (Chapters 2-6), wagering (Chapters 7-9) and theories in practices (Chapters 10-11). Chapter 1 will explain why long term gains are possible in horse racing. About horse handicapping, we will start with analysing racing forms in Chapter 2. Other handicapping factors such as weight carried, jockeys, trainers and pedigrees will be discussed in Chapter 3. Some advanced statistical methods, such as chi-square test and kernel smoothing, will be introduced in Chapter 4 to further analyse those handicapping factors discussed in previous chapters. The following two chapters are about probability estimations. In Chapter 5, normal distribution and multinominal logistic regression are introduced in estimating winning probability of each race horse. In Chapter 6, we will talk about some methods in misconceptions in estimating placed probability. Two main concepts in wagering, Kelly criterion and hedging, will be discussed in Chapters 7 and 8. To hit exotic pools, those theories in combinatorics in Chapter 9 will definitely help the readers. The author will share his experiences in betting syndicate in Chapter 10, and tell you how to be a successful professional horseplayer in the last Chapter. Some readers may find the mathematics in this book difficult, but the free program will take your pain away and do all the calculations. You can simply apply all the professional formulae by no more than a click, and pick your horses like an expert analyst. As an awardee in Asian-Pacific Mathematics Olympiad, the author abandoned his career as an actuary and became a key member in a gambling syndicate. This book was reprinted in the 4th edition in Hong Kong, ranked #2 in the best-selling chart in the international Chinese weekly Yazhou Zhoukan, and now available worldwide.

Book excerpt: Horse Racing systems are notorious for working for short periods of time or over historical data but they always seem to start to fall over when you start to place money on the selections. This is usually because of back fitted results and the systems producer having no background in statistics and probability. It has also been identified that horse racing punters are quick to pick up on anomalies which slowly erode the odds and value. The system explained in this book is very different to the selection processes of most systems as it takes into account statistical analysis and horse racing truths which have held constant over time and makes money from them. This Horse Racing System is consistent, easy to follow and profitable. It is all of these things because the rules for it are not subjective and are all based on statistical analysis. It also uses at its heart principles and statistics which have been known to all horse racing punters, but it uses them to profit.

The procedure is objective and requires no special knowledge about horse racing (trainers, jockeys, breeding, weights, etc.). The KHP contains multiple methods for defining the winning horse in a race. Statistical tests with a confidence level of over 95 percent yield results showing the key horses win in a range of 51 to 63 percent with a return on investment (ROI) in a range of 26 to 34 percent.

What kinds of horses do they win with? • Understand handicapping. The significance—or insignificance—of betting systems. What do big-time handicappers look for in a horse race? Learn to be an informed—and improved—handicapper. It’s a safe wager that everyone from equine experts to once-a-year punters will know the races better, bet the races with more confidence, and enjoy the races like never once they read this book.

Book excerpt: The Mathematics of Horse Racing is about an analysis program that delves into the realm of horse racing to prove that this innovative quantitative approach, based on the statistical principles of correlation, has a far greater success rate in an industry that eludes most. Important to note is that at the back end of all information that adds value there lies a system of analysis. In today's internet age there is an explosion of data. The reality is that not much can be done with data that has not been processed. The difficulty lies in making sense of all this data by transforming it into information, which implies determining what is relevant and eliminating the irrelevant. Importantly, what exactly does specific data represent and how could we use it to understand and even determine specific outcomes? Or what does present or past data have on future events? The correlation program, i.e. the CET Analysis Program, proves its horse racing capability to forecast the best horses that had finished in the top of several horse race meetings - which has not been limited to South Africa but beyond. The Mathematics of Horse Racing presents substantive evidence in the form of primarily winning tickets that conclusively proves the accuracy of the CET program to analysis data beyond the present subject of horse racing. Emphasis is twofold - firstly, statistical science and its relationship to the CET methodology and secondly, its application that resulted in the documenting of actual horse race winning tickets."Data do not give up their secrets easily. They must be tortured to confess."Jeff Hopperwww.cetanalysis.com

By engaging the discipline of applied statistics to compare the legendary achievements of these two horses, I am being completely honest about my two primary audiences—the serious Thoroughbred racing fan and those desiring a clearer comparison of runner quality that only the lens of basic statistics can provide. The statistics in this book are basic and are completely explained as the text progresses. They are not difficult—provided one is motivated to compare Thoroughbreds on an objective rather than subjective level and to spend a modicum of extra time learning the minimal eight-grade-level companions the statistics require. The author supports this contention by offering the following email address at which readers can contact him and receive personal help on any portion of the statistics that may seem confusing: [email protected]. I personally wish all readers well on their journey into what is possibly a ground-breaking area, thereby showing their willingness to accept a very modest challenge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistics and Probability for Engineering Applications provides a complete discussion of all the major topics typically covered in a college engineering statistics course. This textbook minimizes the derivations and mathematical theory, focusing instead on the information and techniques most needed and used in engineering applications. It is filled with practical techniques directly applicable on the job. Written by an experienced industry engineer and statistics professor, this book makes learning statistical methods easier for today's student. This book can be read sequentially like a normal textbook, but it is designed to be used as a handbook, pointing the reader to the topics and sections pertinent to a particular type of statistical problem. Each new concept is clearly and briefly described, whenever possible by relating it to previous topics. Then the student is given carefully chosen examples to deepen understanding of the basic ideas and how they are applied in engineering. The examples and case studies are taken from real-world engineering problems and use real data. A number of practice problems are provided for each section, with answers in the back for selected problems. This book will appeal to engineers in the entire engineering spectrum (electronics/electrical, mechanical, chemical, and civil engineering); engineering students and students taking computer science/computer engineering graduate courses; scientists needing to use applied statistical methods; and engineering technicians and technologists. * Filled with practical techniques directly applicable on the job * Contains hundreds of solved problems and case studies, using real data sets * Avoids unnecessary theory
