In the early days he owned and operated machine shops, was engaged in the buying and shipping of grain, and gauged by the stand ards of the locality and period was a wealthy man. His home was in W'ayne county until his death. Gannet Ramsdell married and brought his wife to Wayne county, and they were the parents of four sons: Ashley, Dyer, Jonathan and Thomas _l., the last being the only survivor of this family.
