Book Synopsis Around Mansfield by : Mansfield Area Historical Society
Download or read book Around Mansfield written by Mansfield Area Historical Society and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the Memphis Line was pushing eastward through the virgin Ozark hills, railroad officials realized that watering stations were needed every 8 to 10 miles. One such station was built on the future site of the town of Mansfield. In 1882, F.M. Mansfield and George Nettleton officially established the town. Noted for its rolling hills and abundance of natural water sources, Mansfield became known as the "Gem of the Ozarks." Early settlers that were drawn to the area established local businesses, including orchards, canning factories, and mines. Farming became an essential way of life for most rural residents. Today, the town is famous as the place where author Laura Ingalls Wilder, who lived here from 1894 until her death in 1957, wrote her renowned Little House books. It was also the boyhood home of Major League Baseball player Carl Mays, who at one point was a teammate of Babe Ruth.
Book Synopsis Mansfield Township, Burlington County by :
Download or read book Mansfield Township, Burlington County written by and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2009 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mansfield Township was established as a constabulary in 1688 and became incorporated in 1798. It is one of the oldest townships in Burlington County. Made up of one town, Columbus, and the four villages of Hedding, Kinkora, Georgetown, and Mansfield Square, the township continues to retain the rural, agricultural landscape that its first settlers witnessed. Mansfield Township has had a number of notable residents, from Prince Lucian Murat, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, to Thomas Larzelere, an architect who was instrumental in designing plans for the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The vintage images in Mansfield Township, Burlington County bring to life the history of the township, from the days when weary travelers stopped for refreshment at the Columbus Inne to the modern, technologically driven community that the township is today.
Book Synopsis English Common Law in the Age of Mansfield by : James Oldham
Download or read book English Common Law in the Age of Mansfield written by James Oldham and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2005-12-15 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the eighteenth century, the English common law courts laid the foundation that continues to support present-day Anglo-American law. Lord Mansfield, Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench, 1756-1788, was the dominant judicial force behind these developments. In this abridgment of his two-volume book, The Mansfield Manuscripts and the Growth of English Law in the Eighteenth Century, James Oldham presents the fundamentals of the English common law during this period, with a detailed description of the operational features of the common law courts. This work includes revised and updated versions of the historical and analytical essays that introduced the case transcriptions in the original volumes, with each chapter focusing on a different aspect of the law. While considerable scholarship has been devoted to the eighteenth-century English criminal trial, little attention has been given to the civil side. This book helps to fill that gap, providing an understanding of the principal body of substantive law with which America's founding fathers would have been familiar. It is an invaluable reference for practicing lawyers, scholars, and students of Anglo-American legal history.

Download or read book Beat Box written by Joe Mansfield and published by . This book was released on 2014-03-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author Joe Mansfield selected 75 drum machines from his collection of 150 and had them impeccably photographed. He then documented their related collateral, including original packaging and advertising and wrote piquant essays about the machines' history, original release, and subsequent usage (often totally"off-label"). Starting with Wurlitzer's Side Man, originally released in 1959, Mansfield proceeds to document some of the most prominent andwell known drum machines like the Roland TR-808 alongside lesser known and yet-to-be discovered gems such as the Band Master Powerhouse, ending the lesson with the Sequential Circuits' Studio 440 unit, released in 1987. The incredible design of the machines themselves is thoughtfully augmented by a great layout and interviews with early adopters of the technology Schooly D, Davy DMX, and Marshall Jefferson. Limited edition in leatherette case includes download card, 7" record and cassette tape.
