JOSÉ MIGUEL OVIEDO hace la revisión de lo primero, pero se concentra en lo segundo -los autores clave y los textos fundamentales-, brindando estudios individuales de cierta extensión acerca de estos últimos. Tal compromiso entre el cuadro general y el retrato particular puede permitir una visión más clara, no sólo del hecho literario, sino de sus repercusiones culturales y sociopolíticas. Cada capítulo, acompañado por una selecta bibliografía sobre los temas tratados, permite una consulta fácil de las instancias del proceso y de cómo se insertan en ellas los autores y sus obras.
