Book Synopsis Traveling Wave Tubes for Space Applications by : Ashok Kumar
Download or read book Traveling Wave Tubes for Space Applications written by Ashok Kumar and published by . This book was released on 2022-12-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of traveling wave tubes in space applications. A traveling wave tube (TWT) is a type of vacuum tube used for high-power radio frequency amplification. This device uses an electron beam and is used in communication applications. Traveling wave tubes have many applications in space research. Traveling-wave tubes are also useful in ground-to-space transmissions; the device still has some use in telecommunication, including transponders for high-frequency military bands. Also, Traveling-wave tubes can be found in command-guidance systems for missiles and electronic countermeasures (ECM). The traveling-wave tubes can also be used as a radar transmitters.
Book Synopsis An Analytic Theory Of Multi-stream Electron Beams In Traveling Wave Tubes by : Alexander Figotin
Download or read book An Analytic Theory Of Multi-stream Electron Beams In Traveling Wave Tubes written by Alexander Figotin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-10-29 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Traveling Wave Tubes (TWT) is a powerful vacuum electronic device used to amplify radio-frequency (RF) signals as well as numerous applications such as radar, television and telephone satellite communications. This monograph is devoted to the author's original theoretical developments in the theory of a traveling wave tube (TWT).Most of the monograph is the author's original work on an analytical theory of TWTs. It is a constructive Lagrangian field theory of TWT in which the electron beam (e-beam) is represented by one-dimensional multi-stream electron flow and the guiding slow-wave structure is represented by possibly non-uniform multi-transmission line (MTL). The proposed analytic theory accounts for a number of electron plasma phenomena including space-charge effects such as electron-to-electron repulsion (debunching), convective instabilities, wave-particle interaction, amplifying waves and more. It allows, in particular, to (i) identify origins of the wave-particle interaction and the system convective instability (exponential growth); (ii) evaluate the energy transfer rate from the e-beam to the electromagnetic radiation; (iii) identify instability modal branches which under condition of sufficiently strong coupling between the e-beam and the MTL can cover ideally all frequencies.

Book Synopsis High Efficiency Octave Bandwidth Traveling-Wave Tube by : Mark K. Scherba
Download or read book High Efficiency Octave Bandwidth Traveling-Wave Tube written by Mark K. Scherba and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Techniques resulting in high overall efficiency over extended bandwidths have been considered in this study effort. Some of the techniques have been pursued during previous efficiency studies in which high efficiencies have beed demonstrated on low duty pulsed traveling-wave tubes. The present study is complicated by both the high average power requirement and the dual mode capability to be afforded by the resulting experimental tube. During the second phase of the study effort attention was directed to the design of the dual mode electron gun. An experimental gun was designed and experimentally evaluated. In addition, satisfactory match design have been demonstrated for both the input and output transducers. Considerable effort has also been expended on constructional and assembly techniques. A multistage depressed collector has been designed to recover a portion of the spent electron beam energy and thus increase the overall conversion efficiency. An experimental dual mode velocity taper tube will be constructed and experimentally evaluated during the next contract period. (Author).
