Book Synopsis Protecting Europe against large-scale cyber attacks by : Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: European Union Committee
Download or read book Protecting Europe against large-scale cyber attacks written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: European Union Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010-03-18 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue of large-scale cyber-attacks on the internet has moved up the international agenda recently. This inquiry looks at how States and their major organisations can defend themselves and their critical information infrastructures (CIIs) against such attacks. Whilst individual States bear primary responsibility for their critical national infrastructure (CNI), the infrastructures are heavily interdependent. The Internet is a 'global network of networks' and individual States cannot be viewed in isolation. The Committee therefore concludes that continuing intervention at EU level was appropriate and that all Member States have an interest in bringing the defences of the least protected up. The Committee also looked at ENISA, the European Network and Information Security Agency, and they believe that with a widening of its mandate it can play a more significant part in the developments envisaged.
Book Synopsis The HR Guide to European Mergers and Acquisitions by : James F. Klein
Download or read book The HR Guide to European Mergers and Acquisitions written by James F. Klein and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: News of a merger or acquisition is a big event in the life of a company, which stirs uncertainty, anxiety and fear. The changes, redundancies and so on, that often follow this news, are a further source of turmoil for the employees of both companies involved. There is no magic formula to avoid these effects completely. However, good planning, communication and human resource practice can mitigate the worst of them; keep everyone that matters on board; and ensure that the new organization maintains your reputation for sensitive people management. Get it wrong, on the other hand, and you may lose the very people you were most anxious to keep; put the success of the process at risk and even face employment tribunals or other legal proceedings. In addition, imagine how these processes are complicated by any transnational elements. James F. Klein and Robert-Charles Kahn provide a practical, hands-on guide to successfully integrating HR functions following any merger or acquisition within Europe. The book guides you step by step, providing the methodology, tools, sequence of events and necessary material. It includes comparative tables, tips and stories illustrating the differences, specific issues and pitfalls that are particular to the different European countries. 20 years of human resources experience across companies in continental Europe has gone into creating this blueprint to successfully implementing the people side of successful mergers and acquisitions.

Book Synopsis The Evolution of European Identities by : Graham Day
Download or read book The Evolution of European Identities written by Graham Day and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-06-29 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 'European project' is in a state of perpetual crisis in which the root cause is a lack of identification by ordinary citizens with Europe and European institutions. The Evolution of European Identities employs state of the art analysis of in-depth interviews by renowned practitioners to give a unique 'bottoms up' perspective on the development (or its lack) of a sense of 'European mental space'. Linking conceptual findings with case studies, the book provides unique insights into groups that have been especially sensitized by their life experiences to question what it means to be European in the twenty-first century. The groups explored in this book include: adults who experienced European education exchanges when young; transnational workers; civil society organization activists; persons involved in cross-border intimate relationships; farmers who are subject to European markets, regulations and subsidies; and migrants into 'fortress Europe'.

It also takes the ability to come up with the big ideas that make a desirable product or service, as well as the skill and perseverance to execute on the thousand small ideas that get your design into the hands of users. It requires expertise in project management, user research, and consensus-building. This comprehensive, full-color volume addresses all of these and more with detailed how-to information, real-life examples, and exercises. Topics include assembling a design team, planning and conducting user research, analyzing your data and turning it into personas, using scenarios to drive requirements definition and design, collaborating in design meetings, evaluating and iterating your design, and documenting finished design in a way that works for engineers and stakeholders alike.

Book Synopsis The Medieval European Stage, 500-1550 by : William Tydeman
Download or read book The Medieval European Stage, 500-1550 written by William Tydeman and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001-09-27 with total page 798 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together a wide selection of primary source materials from the theatrical history of the Middle Ages. The focus is on Western Europe between the fall of the Roman Empire and the emergence of markedly Renaissance forms in Italy. Early sections of the volume are devoted to the survival of Classical tradition and the development of the liturgical drama of the Roman Catholic Church, but the main concentration is on the genesis and growth of popular religious drama in the vernacular. Each of the major medieval regions is featured, while a final section covers the pastimes and customs of the people, a record of whose traditional activities often only survives in the margins of official recognition. The documents are compiled by a team of leading scholars in the field and the over 700 documents are all presented in modern English translation.
