Book excerpt: Hardings of the Northern Neck of Virginia corrects major errors in an article published in Tyler's Quarterly 100 years ago that sought to show the origins and first generations of the family of Thomas Harding and Anne Moseley in Northumberland County, Virginia. In this book, I show that the accepted English origin of Thomas Harding is incorrect, that many of his purported descendants were from separate families, and includes over 200 pages of original record abstracts as proof, all carefully cross referenced for ease in searching. The book takes some lines down to 1850 and includes the latest DNA results for branches of the family.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Second Edition of "Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Wildy Harding, Sr. (1801-1878)" is a unique book in several respects. First, the book includes the genealogy research of one Harding line beginning with Adam, 4th Earl Harding (1349-1412) in Northumberland England down to Thomas Harding who came to Northumberland, Virginia in 1651. The "Virginia Hardings" lived in Northumberland and then Stafford County, Virginia between 1651 and 1819. The history of these "Virginia Harding" families is discussed in detail. Henry Wildy Harding, Sr. then left Stafford County, Virginia in 1819 and came to Tennessee and finally to Kentucky as the result of the "Jackson Purchase" where land could be acquired at a very reasonable price. American History is wrapped around this family including the Virginia Colony, events of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and family participation in the Civil War. A unique feature of the book is the inclusion of over 800 biographies (most with pictures) of the descendants of Henry Wildy Harding, Sr. of which over 500 are living cousins as of Dec 2017. All cousins with biographies have been assigned a D'Aboville number that shows how they connect to this Harding line. The book includes information about church history, the colonies, slavery, and pioneer life as this family lived in Virginia and then moved west to Kentucky. After the Civil War, family members moved to Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi and back to Tennessee. Famous cousins, include President Warren G. Harding, and John Harding, who established the Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, Tennessee, are discussed and documented as well as connections to John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley of the Mayflower. British Royalty connections are also revealed.

Book excerpt: This historical novel will travel through the colonial days of the south beginning in 1699 and culminating in 1783 with the struggles of the Revolution. Three U. S. Presidents have ties to the historical characters in this book George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. Mary Ball, mother of the 1st president, is one of the main personalities highlighted. Nancy Hanks, mother of the 16th president, was probably the illegitimate daughter of one of this books characters. Thomas Jefferson and his family play a vital role in this historical novel. The main characters of this book will be lesser known but just as significant. These will be the Peacheys, the Glascocks, the Griffins, the Bertrands, the Balls, the McCartys, the Carters, and the Tayloes - all popular names in the eighteenth century on the Northern Neck of Virginia. Others featured are the Walkers and the Gilmers, especially Dr. Thomas Walker, who first discovered Kentucky for the white man. His close ties to President Thomas Jefferson helped promote the formation of the Louisiana Purchase, which doubled the size of the United States. Rev. St. John Shropshire and his descendants are highlighted with their ties to the Peach family of South Carolina. This narrative starts during the early development of the Northern Neck of Virginia on the banks of the Rappahannock. With this as its beginning, the book takes its readers back to the immigrant ancestors of its main characters and then carries them forward to future generations. Many of the personalities in this book will be portrayed as they helped fight for the independence of the United States from England and formulate the new nation.
