Page by page, diary entry after diary entry, we learn about Snowe White, a rapper trying to make her way through there Berlin art scene. Written between 2012-2016, it’s an ode to the artists, friends and long nights, parties, mishaps and heartbreaks at the peak of the cultural revolution in the city of Berlin (Before it became too expensive). This is my pop culture manifesto. If I was Richard Linklater, this would be my “Suburbia.” If I was Chuck Klosterman, this would be my “Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs.” “A great new book about youth, love, and ambition. Honest and direct and full of heart.” -RM Vaughan
Download or read book European Disunion written by Stefan Auer and published by Hurst Publishers. This book was released on 2022-05-24 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The European Union means many different things to its many peoples. In Germany, for example, the European project was conceived mainly as post-national, or even post-sovereign. In France, by contrast, President Emmanuel Macron has pursued the vision of a sovereign Europe; that is, an EU that would become a formidable geopolitical actor. Yet, instead, Europe has struggled to ascertain its values abroad and even domestically, facing a sovereignist rebellion from its newer member states, such as Hungary and Poland, and the departure of Britain. The eurozone crisis has undermined the EU’s economic credentials, the refugee crisis its societal cohesion, the failure to stand up to Russia its sense of purpose, and the Covid-19 pandemic its credibility as a protector of European citizens. The key argument of this book is that the multiple crises of the European project are caused by one underlying factor: its bold attempt to overcome the age of nation-states. Left unchecked, supranational institutions tend to become ever more bureaucratic, eluding control of the people they are meant to serve. The logic of technocracy is thus pitted against the democratic impulse, which the European Union is supposed to embody. Democracy in Europe has suffered as a result.

Book excerpt: Our heroine in Part One of the Muslim Romance Trilogy—The Year I Learned to Text; Why Am I Having Sex with a Muslim in My Basement?— actress/comedian/realtor Julie, returns and is now sixty-two. Her Marriage Islam-Style husband is forty. Her chemical addiction to the black-eyed, always-tardy Persian Prince remains insatiable, as her two loyal dogs and opinionated cat watch it all go down. When the honeymooners’ salacious pillow talk turns to Taliban training camps, dropping walls on homosexuals, and killing Republican presidents, conservative Julie must choose between love of country and the greatest physical and spiritual connection she’s ever known. “A truly out-of-the-box articulate storyteller, if Ms. Montague has not yet succeeded in having the Ayatollahs issue a fatwa against her, she surely will be successful this time. Juliet’s hysterically funny romantic satire will soon become a collector’s item when Jihad Honeymoon in Hollywood is banned along with the author, when she is placed in the informal witness program along with Salman Rushdie. Be sure to take home Book No. 2 in The Muslim Romance Trilogy today, so you can say you knew her when.”- Steven Emerson, author of American Jihad; the Terrorists Living Among Us. “The Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy is an unintentionally humorous lap cat compared to the Bengal cougar of this long-awaited sequel to The Year I Learned to Text; Why Am I Having Sex with a Muslim in My Basement? Juliet Montague continues to weave more colorful erotic tales in this intentionally funny, heartbreaking saga of love gone wrong.”- C. Stephen Foster, author of Awakening the Actor Within
