Book Synopsis My Little Book of Poetry by : Katy Pitsi
Download or read book My Little Book of Poetry written by Katy Pitsi and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A selection of my poetry and short verse collected over the years; some happy, some funny, some soppy and sentimental, some inspiring and uplifting, and some just plain silly! A few are also written taken from the view of my disability; Multiple sclerosis. Born in Cheltenham in 1968, I moved to Bristol when I was three months old. After leaving home aged eighteen, I had several different jobs and lived in various shared houses and flats. In 1987 I was an au-pair in New York for a year. I returned and bought my first house and worked as manager for a pizza franchise. I moved around, never settling; travelling whilst writing bits and bobs. Since being diagnosed with MS in 1994, I have had various voluntary jobs, mainly in charity shops - the closest thing to my love of working with the general public. I continue my love of travel and writing and combined the two when I wrote my first book in 2011 about my travels to Rhodes. Currently single, I live in an accessible bungalow in Bristol.

Book Synopsis On This Side of Heaven by : Pamela Jackson
Download or read book On This Side of Heaven written by Pamela Jackson and published by Heavenly Novels. This book was released on 2006 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fresh out of seminary school, Ben Montague had expectations of serving God when he became associate pastor of First Covenant Chapel. The tiny country church was just the place to get his career off on the right foot. That was until he started working with the Reverend Bob Buck. Five years away from retirement and on a personal mission to show his worth to others from his past, Buck's motives start to become increasingly apparent to Ben. It starts with something as small as omitting hymnal songs from the services, but when Buck suggests an $8.5 million loan for a new sanctuary, Ben knows he has boarded a sinking ship. Buck's true character gradually begins to reveal itself through greed and egotism--all the while insisting his actions are motivated by an effort to express God's love. A realistic and, at times, shocking glimpse into the ugly side of organized religion, On This Side of Heaven is a page-turner that teaches an important lesson: God is in the Church, but the Church is not God.

Book Synopsis Grandfather's Wrinkles by : Kathryn England
Download or read book Grandfather's Wrinkles written by Kathryn England and published by Flashlight Press. This book was released on 2007-10-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lucy and her grandfather are the focus of this poignant and warm story that teaches that wrinkles are badges of happiness rather than signs of age. Lucy asks Granddad, “Why doesn't your skin fit you? It's all crinkly,” to which he replies, “Those crinkles are called wrinkles,” each of which he got when he smiled especially big. As Lucy traces Granddad's joy-filled face, he describes his memories and shares the cause of each line—his wedding day, Lucy's mother's birth, precious moments from her childhood, and Lucy's birth, among others. Beautiful drawings recreate each thoughtful memory, and the recollections showcase an intimate bond between the two generations.
