Book excerpt: El argumento de lenguaje privado a contrapelo es una defensa del argumento del lenguaje privado de Wittgenstein a través de una crítica y rechazo de sus interpretaciones más influyentes (Malcolm, Fogelin, Kenny, Canfield, Tugendhat). Este examen lleva postular que una interpretación considerada paralela a la discusión clásica, la de Kripke en Wittgenstein sobre reglas y lenguaje privado (1982), se motiva y responde a las dificultades de aquéllas. Al intentar demostrar la imposibilidad de establecer un criterio de corrección privado, debido a las limitaciones que presenta la interioridad de la subjetividad, implícitamente se deslizaba una comprensión del criterio de corrección. En un paso posterior, cuando debían exhibirlo en el dominio público, se hacían oír las críticas y objeciones. La propuesta de Kripke, al basar su argumento en las presuntas ventajas cognitivas tradicionalmente otorgadas a la privacidad, puede ofrecer un nuevo desafío escéptico, de carácter ontológico, es decir, acerca de la posibilidad de la clase de cosa que el en planteo previo se daba por presupuesta. Su “solución escéptica” establece que los juicios de corrección, ahora entendidos como básicos y primitivos, sólo poseen sentido en el marco de una comunidad uniforme en sus juicios. Se utiliza esta reconstrucción para mostrar que el Wittgenstein de Kripke puede responder a las dificultades más serias de las concepciones comunitaristas de las reglas: la de presuponer la noción de regla en la “solución”; la de la objetividad de la regla ¿puede un individuo estar acertado en contra de la opinión comunitaria consensuada?; y el problema de las relaciones internas, es decir del carácter necesario del vínculo entre la regla y sus casos.
