Book excerpt: "The ethnics are coming" --and the fear of many observers is that the quality of traditional disciplines will suffer as a result. Immigrant Voices: In Search of Pedagogical Reform is a new book which shows that such fear is unfounded. Ethnic scholars of international repute come together in this new collection of essays to meditate upon the single most important social phenomena in America today: Immigration. Due to the ever increasing ethnic diversity in today's school populations, the need to explore this issue has become more critical than ever. Giving voice to a broad range of complex experiences, contributors from China, Taiwan, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, and Slovakia provide insight into the numerous obstacles immigrants must overcome in order to succeed in both the academy and society at large. Offering broad theoretical perspectives, as well as powerful and unforgettable personal narratives, this book serves as a invaluable resource for continued efforts toward educational equity.

Download or read book Espanol Para Hoy written by Ann Lesman and published by University Press of America. This book was released on 1992 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a textbook for first-year college Spanish. The grammar has been simplified in order to free the instructor to concentrate on developing conversational skills. Most college texts say that their objective is to develop oral proficiency, but they include many grammar concepts which a student will never master conversationally in the first year. Español Para Hoy has been simplified as much as possible. Although the grammar presentations have been streamlined, the number and variety of exercises practicing each concept have been expanded. This gives students the opportunity to master the basic concepts well and to feel successful doing so.

Book Synopsis Brainstorming by : Carlos A. Williams, MD
Download or read book Brainstorming written by Carlos A. Williams, MD and published by Book Venture Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The privilege of my existence has been encountering a large number of extraordinary ordinary people that either voluntarily or not, have taught me about life, moral, intellectual, religious and philosophical values of human kind. Perhaps I was hungry for learning because I do not mind the age, race or color of anyone willing to teach me, or pass on to me any or all things they could, because it would be up to me to be able to triage what I should keep and apply, or reject and forget. As a human, I do not reject another human until they prove to be less than willing to contribute to the rest of society, and or themselves. No one will agree with everyone else all the time, and sometimes we disagree in everything, but in my mind every one could agree to disagree and respect each other. Perhaps I think and feel that way because I grew up in a poor country in a poor family earning our existence by doing business with every one that came through the door, regardless of color or language, and after 28 years there, I became a foreign graduate student in a country where I did have to learn the language and culture in order to be a Neurologist who never contemplated living in this country, but found myself here. This is not my work, but a simple account of my encounters with people I met at the end of their life.
