Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines requirements for the software engineering environment and examines of two existing databases to support the software engineering environment. A portion of the software engineering environment was designed using and entity-relationship type model and implement on PSL/PSA and Ingres. PSL/PSA is a software engineering application built upon a network database. Ingres is a relational database management system. Criteria comparison include data management capabilities. Other comparison criteria include the capabilities need by the software engineering environment. These include support of large data objects, extended data types, version support, modifiability, and extended functionality.
Book Synopsis Criteria for evaluating general database migration tools by : Bin Wei
Download or read book Criteria for evaluating general database migration tools written by Bin Wei and published by RTI Press. This book was released on 2012-10-26 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software updates often involve data migration, especially when converting legacy software implemented to interface with outdated relational database management systems or other nonrelational database electronic files. Moreover, many software applications rely on data migration to import data from a variety of platforms. Usually, database migrations are time consuming and error prone. Based on their experience designing and implementing custom utilities to convert a large number of legacy databases and files in different platforms, RTI computer scientists developed five criteria that need to be considered when evaluating a data migration tool (DMT). These criteria can help users and software development project managers make informed decisions in data conversion tasks, help software developers assess design and implementation considerations for future DMT products, and provide guidelines for database administrators to evaluate a general DMT.

Book excerpt: In a global and increasingly competitive market, where organizations are driven by information, the search for ways to transform data into true knowledge is critical to a business's success. Few companies, however, have effective methods of managing the quality of this information. Because quality is a multidimensional concept, its management must consider a wide variety of issues related to information and data quality. Information and Database Quality is a compilation of works from research and industry that examines these issues, covering both the organizational and technical aspects of information and data quality. Information and Database Quality is an excellent reference for both researchers and professionals involved in any aspect of information and database research.

Book Synopsis Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes by : Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/AHRQ
Download or read book Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes written by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/AHRQ and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This User’s Guide is intended to support the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and quality evaluation of registries created to increase understanding of patient outcomes. For the purposes of this guide, a patient registry is an organized system that uses observational study methods to collect uniform data (clinical and other) to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a particular disease, condition, or exposure, and that serves one or more predetermined scientific, clinical, or policy purposes. A registry database is a file (or files) derived from the registry. Although registries can serve many purposes, this guide focuses on registries created for one or more of the following purposes: to describe the natural history of disease, to determine clinical effectiveness or cost-effectiveness of health care products and services, to measure or monitor safety and harm, and/or to measure quality of care. Registries are classified according to how their populations are defined. For example, product registries include patients who have been exposed to biopharmaceutical products or medical devices. Health services registries consist of patients who have had a common procedure, clinical encounter, or hospitalization. Disease or condition registries are defined by patients having the same diagnosis, such as cystic fibrosis or heart failure. The User’s Guide was created by researchers affiliated with AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program, particularly those who participated in AHRQ’s DEcIDE (Developing Evidence to Inform Decisions About Effectiveness) program. Chapters were subject to multiple internal and external independent reviews.
