This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book challenges the universal applicability of strategic management concepts. It argues that it is necessary to pay attention to contextual facets of the environment, in particular to societal culture. It also depicts the current planning situation in the banking industry. The culture-boundness of strategy formulation and implementation is challenged and advocated trough discussing planning systems, processes, and heuristics, and contextual influences both an a theoretical basis and with empirical research. The book is based an my doctoral dissertation, which was completed at the Marketing and Banking Departments of the Vienna University of Economics under the auspices of Fritz Scheuch and Gustav Raab. Their teaching, constructive criticism, and encouragement provided the intellectual stimulation for bringing this dissertation to completion. This applies equally to several professors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Harry Triandis and Anant Negandhi introduced me to cross-cultural research and inter national management. Howard Themas, Marjorie Lyles, and Irene Duhaime helped me to crystallize thoughts. Hanns-Martin Schönfeld, Seymour Sudman and Gerald Salancik challenged my thoughts about organizational behavior and methodology. Richard Watson, Univer sity of Georgia, and Louis Flores of Northern Illinois University were very helpful in providing address material for Australia and Latin America, as well as through assistance with translations. Norihiro Suzuki of Int'l Christian University, Tokyo, and Hiro Matsusaki of Tokyo University helped with Japanese translations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the relationship between strategy optimization mechanisms and the efficiency (performance and productivity) in the digital and open economy. The aim of this question on the interactions between strategies, performance, and market forms is to understand how, at the level of value-based management, productivity determines the optimized strategies and how the optimization process is modified according to the performance of the firm. Value-Based Management in an Open Economy: Optimizing Strategy to Improve Business and Performance outlines the conditions under which this relationship is negative, neutral, or positive in the banking sector. Applying economic and managerial principles, the book demonstrates that problems related to the competitive advantage can be successfully analyzed like all other business problems, using traditional tools of economics, finance, and strategy (provided that the dynamics of industry-specific interactions are considered). The author argues that the ability of firms to improve their performance depends on the structure in which these organizations compete and their ability to optimize their value-based management. Key features: Captures the diversity and the interconnection of management control and firm performance issues Analyzes the challenges of contemporary management control in order to provide transversal and sustainable strategic solutions Promotes understanding of the prospects of optimizing mechanisms This volume is intended primarily for those who will be called upon to work as researchers or professionals in the fields of corporate governance and value-based management. The book identifies the technical practices and proposes mechanisms to encourage growth and improve performance. The book will be helpful for renewing strategic approaches and value-based mechanisms in a digital and open economy.

Book excerpt: Research in the field of service quality and consumer behavior has developed in many dimensions in the past decade. A number of models have been developed to determine the factors leading to satisfaction; however, within the past few years, scholars have proved that satisfaction is not sufficient to leave a strong mark in the minds of the customers. Service quality and customer delight have been the buzzwords in the business world in recent times as scholars have proven that customer delight is the key to customer retention. The Handbook of Research on the Interplay Between Service Quality and Customer Delight considers how companies around the world in a cross-cultural environment are dealing with service quality and customer delight and proposes a global outlook on the current trends, tactics, and opportunities. Covering key topics such as buyer funnels, consumer dissonance, and digital solutions, this reference work is ideal for business owners, managers, industry professionals, researchers, scholars, practitioners, academicians, instructors, and students.
