Talks to Farmers: Inspiring, Uplifting, Faith-Building Meditations, written by world renowned preacher Charles H. Spurgeon, uncovers the lessons we can learn from taking a closer look at nature. Includes Foreword by New York Times bestselling author, pastor, and Spurgeon admirer John MacArthur. First published in 1882, Talks to Farmers is a collection of nineteen of Spurgeon's best-known sermons. Within each chapter, Spurgeon artfully breaks down biblical parables, psalms, and passages through an agricultural lens to teach you timeless spiritual truths and deepen your relationship with Christ. Updated for today’s reader, this new edition of Talks to Farmers is designed to cultivate your faith along the way. Talks to Farmers is a hopeful, encouraging read for every Christian. Convicting and enlightening, Spurgeon's style of dissecting a verse and beautifully weaving it back together for its true purpose--to point us to Christ, our everlasting source of hope and joy--truly shines in this modern edition of Talks to Farmers. Throughout Talks to Farmers, Spurgeon shares the essential life lessons he’s learned about: The importance of developing a healthy prayer life How implementing a practice of gratitude can change your perspective on the world forever What God's creation can teach us about humanity, society, and modern Christianity The power of our day-to-day observations of nature The incredible variety of ways in which faith journeys can unfold How God cares for us, just as he cares for every creature on earth Nearly 140 years after these sermons were first delivered, Spurgeon's inspirational messages continue to prove practical and relevant for modern believers, drawing from salt-of-the-earth stories from the Bible that explore our relationship with both God and his creation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How would you get more than 5,000 people to show up at your church? Almost every pastor feels the pressure to get people in the doors. More people means more success, more stability, and more godly influence, right? Often, in their zeal for fruit and growth, pastors and church leaders adopt worldly mechanisms for church growth that end up undermining the very call God has given them. Charles Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, was a pastor to well over 5,000 people in a day long before "mega-churches" were the norm. But you might be surprised to know that Spurgeon's vision for ministry was not pragmatic. He did not borrow "best practices" from the business leaders of his day. Rather, his ministry vision was decidedly, staunchly biblical and theological in nature—and it was a ministry vision we ought to adopt more than a century later. In Spurgeon the Pastor, Geoff Chang, director of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Seminary, shows how Spurgeon models a theological vision of ministry in preaching, baptism and the Lord's supper, meaningful church membership, biblical church leadership, leadership development, and more. Don’t get caught up in worldly methods to pursue ministry growth. Follow the example of the Prince of Preachers, and entrust your ministry to the sovereignty of the Prince of Peace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyday advice based on biblical faith Charles H. Spurgeon’s success as a legendary preacher and author was generated from his intense love and concern for “working people.” In John Ploughman’s Talks, Spurgeon assumes the persona of a simple ploughman to dispense advice and address serious moral issues in the language of the common man. Spurgeon’s homespun humor and rustic illustrations reflect on a variety of issues, such as idleness, grumbling, appearance, patience, gossiping, debt, spending, family, hope, and much more. In Spurgeon’s words, “That I have written in a semi-humorous vein needs no apology, since thereby sound moral teaching has gained a hearing….There is no particular virtue in being seriously unreadable.” In the tradition of John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, Spurgeon’s tale is destined to be enjoyed for generations by people of all ages and backgrounds.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This eBook edition has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. All of Grace is a theological study by Charles Spurgeon who is known as the "Prince of Preachers". Grace is the hallmark of Christianity which is often out of the focus of the Christian church. Spurgeon suggests that the grace is the central glue of faith, redemption, and repentance. He argues that through grace, repentance gets a meaning. A gospel centered study tells about the greatness of Jesus and the Lord's redemptive heart towards his own. Spurgeon deals with the sin that entangles us by showing us Jesus. He reminds us that the Lord knows very well that we can't change our heart, but he can, when we submit to him by faith in Jesus. And with faith comes repentance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." John 17:16. Christ's prayer was for a special people. He declared that He did not offer a universal intercession. "I pray for them," He said. "I pray not for the world, but for them which You have given Me, for they are Yours." In reading this beautiful prayer through, only one question arises to our minds. Who are the people that are described as, "them," or as, "they"? Who are these favored individuals who share a Savior's prayers, are recognized by a Savior's love, have their names written on the stones of His precious breastplate, and have their character and their circumstances mentioned by the lips of the high priest before the throne on high? The answer to that question is supplied by the words of our text. The people for whom Christ prays are an unearthly people. They are a people somewhat above the world, distinguished altogether from it. "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." I shall treat my text, first of all, doctrinally; secondly, experimentally; and thirdly, practically.

Book excerpt: After traveling the globe and speaking to thousands of churches worldwide, Paul David Tripp has discovered a serious problem within pastoral culture. He is not only concerned about the spiritual life of the pastor, but also with the very community of people that trains him, calls him, relates to him, and restores him if necessary. Dangerous Calling reveals the truth that the culture surrounding our pastors is spiritually unhealthy—an environment that actively undermines the wellbeing and efficacy of our church leaders and thus the entire church body. Here is a book that both diagnoses and offers cures for issues that impact every member and church leader, and gives solid strategies for fighting the all-important war that rages in our churches today.

Book excerpt: And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. – 1 Corinthians 2:4 This book examines three things that are of utmost importance in this fight of faith. The first is our armory, which is the inspired Word of God. The second is our army, the church of the living God, which we must lead under our Lord’s command. The third is our strength, by which we wear the armor and use the sword. The message in this book, when originally presented by Charles Spurgeon in his final address to his own Pastor's College, was received rapturously and enthusiastically. It was almost immediately published and distributed around the world and in several languages. After Charles Spurgeon's death in 1892, 34,000 copies were printed and distributed to pastors and leaders in England through Mrs. Spurgeon's book fund. It is with great pleasure that we present this updated and very relevant book to the Lord's army of today.

Book excerpt: Limited Time Promotional Offer All of Grace - Charles Spurgeon "It is not the object of this book to ask anything of you, but to tell you that salvation is ALL OF GRACE, which means, free, gratis, for nothing." Charles Spurgeon is a cornerstone of the Christian religion. A preacher and teacher, his sermons have spread all over the world and his many printed works have been treasured classic for decades. All of Grace is a simple and eloquent presentation of basic salvation through grace alone. Spurgeon wants readers only to consume his work and ponder it, he asks nothing in return because he believes in the power of God to bring unbelievers to Him. Spurgeon brings the gospel to his readers with pointed illustrations, well-placed anecdotes, irrefutable arguments, heart-felt pleas, and (above all else) the plainly-spoken and rightly-applied word of God. This short and easy read is both a perfect introduction to salvation and an assurance of it for unbelievers and the saved alike. In the last line, Spurgeon beseeches readers to accept salvation now and "Meet me in heaven." Charles Haddon Spurgeon (19 June 1834 - 31 January 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers". Spurgeon was to 19th century England what D. L Moody was to America. Although Spurgeon never attended theological school, by the age of twenty-one he was the most popular preacher in London. A strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times each week at different places. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years, despite the fact he was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave the denomination. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally, and he also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously. Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works, including sermons, an autobiography, commentaries, books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more.
