Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building and expanding on concepts presented in his previous volumes (Relational Group Psychotherapy: From Basic Assumptions to Passion, and Resistance, Rebellion and Refusal in Groups: The 3Rs), Richard M. Billow presents a coherent and innovative model of group psychotherapy. Developing Nuclear Ideas: Relational Group Psychotherapy offers, in experiential terms and with vivid examples, a theoretical and technical approach to understand and organise dynamic group process and drive it towards satisfying the goal of all therapy, the hunger for emotional truth. By developing nuclear ideas, the therapist and the group itself go about the task of containing and making sense of the perceptions, conceptions, affects, and enactments present in all groups. The volume also addresses the impact of thought-limiting, action-orientated polemic ideas. Integrating contemporary theory with cutting edge technique, the author focuses on the personal nature of the intersubjective process, locating the therapist's experience in the centre of the transformational intensity of group life.

Download or read book Sociolinguistics Today (RLE Linguistics C: Applied Linguistics) written by Kingsley Bolton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays developed out of a conference held in Hong Kong in 1988. The aim was to provide a forum for an exchange of views between academics working within the field of sociolinguistics, in particular between those working in the West and those working in the East. Sociolinguistics Today has taken this aim a step further to produce an overview of contemporary research into sociolinguistics worldwide. The book contains articles by acknowledged leaders in the study of language and society, and the presence of sociolinguists working in Asia provides a new and exciting challenge to the hitherto western-dominated field. The comprehensive study of Asian sociolinguistics is unique and engages with the non-Asian contributions to great effect. The range of contributors reinforces the international emphasis of the book.

Book Synopsis The Group and the Unconscious (RLE: Group Therapy) by : Didier Anzieu
Download or read book The Group and the Unconscious (RLE: Group Therapy) written by Didier Anzieu and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1984, this is the first published account in English of the development of group psychotherapy in France. Under the leadership of Professor Didier Anzieu, psychoanalysts actively and ingeniously brought psychoanalytical insights to bear upon group process. These methods were widely applied in training groups for mental health professionals, as well as in many other organizations. Anzieu and his colleagues made many advances in understanding the psychology of large-group situations, and these advances contributed to the growing interest in the field. The main aim of the book is to examine the unconscious life of the human group. Professor Anzieu describes the processes of fantasy and imagination that are common to social organizations, training groups and psychotherapeutic groups, and extends the psychoanalytical theory about dreams to the group. He gives an account of the various kinds of group fantasies, such as the group illusion, the group as a mouth, breaking apart fantasies, the group-machine, and the self-destructive group. The book is illustrated by ten clinical case studies, which are vividly described by Professor Anzieu. The interaction of the imaginary processes and the social ideas of the group are also studied, and the theoretical discussion in general reflects the interest of French psychoanalysts in the earliest structures of the mind and of the psychotic level of the personality as it becomes manifest in the group process.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book summarizes research being pursued within the SISCODE (Society in Innovation and Science through CO-DEsign) project, funded by the EU under the H2020 programme, the goal of which is to set up an analytical, reflective and learning framework to explore the transformations in initiatives and policies emerging from the interaction between citizens and stakeholders. The book provides a critical analysis of the co-design processes activated in 10 co-creation labs addressing societal challenges across Europe. Each lab as a case study of real-life experimentation is described through its journey, starting from the purpose on the ground of the experimentation and the challenge addressed. Specific attention is then drawn on the role of policies and policy maker engagement. Finally, the experimentation is enquired in terms of its output, transformations triggered within the organization and the overall ecosystem, and its outcomes, opening the reasoning towards the lessons learnt and reflections that the entire co-creation journey brought.

Book Synopsis Perspectives in Group Psychotherapy (RLE: Group Therapy) by : P.B. de Maré
Download or read book Perspectives in Group Psychotherapy (RLE: Group Therapy) written by P.B. de Maré and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, originally published in 1972, aimed to provide a theoretical framework for group therapists to guide them through the mass of variables which beset them. Its scope therefore is extremely broad, for it also touches on philosophy, psychology, sociology, communication and general systems theory. In the last chapter certain conclusions are drawn concerning the relationship between group and psycho-dynamics. The book will be of interest to those who have already had some experience of small, medium or large groups, and who want to think about their work in more general terms: it was not at the time widely realised how radically different and how potentially powerful are the implications of group procedures, not only for therapy but in such fields as education, industry and politics. Freud recognised this when he pointed out the dilemma of having to procure for the group precisely those features which were characteristic of the individual, and which are extinguished in him by the formation of the group. Whilst the problem for the individual is the intrusion of unconscious factors, for the group it is the group’s equivalent of consciousness, namely communication and organization, which is in a quandary. The group model differs crucially from the psychological, but they may relate in the sense that, as Freud indicated, neurosis represents a recapitulation within the individual of mankind’s group history. The unconscious mind, then, is a group phenomenon. In other words, group theory turns psychoanalysis upside down and begins at the point where Freud left off, relating neurosis to its social sources. In the light of the group approach, therefore, neurosis and certain of the psychoses can be viewed as localized deposits of unresolved group experiences within the individual, whether they be past, current or an expectation of the future; a feature which makes traumatic neuroses more understandable since they cannot be explained in terms of infantile neurosis. The author suggested the possibility of a new development in group techniques, namely that of large group therapy freed of community ties or training considerations, in which attitudes and ideologies make themselves evident, not as cloudy idealistic non sequiturs but as crucial and clearly definable climates which either impede or promote communication and the flow of information.
