Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some years ago it was my privilege to enjoy the acquaintance of Miss Frances Rolleston, of Keswick, and to carry on a correspondence with her with respect to her work, Mazzaroth: or, the Constellations. She was the first to create an interest in this important subject. Since then Dr. Seiss, of Philadelphia, has endeavoured to popularize her work on the other side of the Atlantic; and brief references have been made to the subject in such books as Moses and Geology, by Dr. Kinns, and inPrimeval Man; but it was felt, for many reasons, that it was desirable to make another effort to set forth, in a more complete form, the witness of the stars to prophetic truth, so necessary in these last days. To the late Miss Rolleston, however, belongs the honour of collecting a mass of information bearing on this subject; but, published as it was, chiefly in the form of notes, unarranged and unindexed, it was suited only for, but was most valuable to, the student. She it was who performed the drudgery of collecting the facts presented by Albumazer, the Arab astronomer to the Caliphs of Grenada, 850 a.d.; and the Tables drawn up by Ulugh Beigh, the Tartar prince and astronomer, about 1650 a.d., who gives the Arabian Astronomy as it had come down from the earliest times. Modern astronomers have preserved, and still have in common use, the ancient names of over a hundred of the principal stars which have been handed down; but now these names are used merely as a convenience, and without any reference to their significance. This work is an attempt to popularize this ancient information, and to use it in the interests of truth. For the ancient astronomical facts and the names, with their signification, I am, from the very nature of the case, indebted, of course, to all who have preserved, collected, and handed them down; but for their interpretation I am alone responsible. It is for the readers to judge how far my conclusions are borne out by the evidence; and how far the foundation of our hopes of coming glory are strengthened by the prophecies which have been written in the stars of heaven, as well as in the Scriptures of truth.

Download or read book The Gospel in the Stars written by Joseph A. Seiss and published by . This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a series of illuminating lectures, Joseph A. Seiss presents a clear picture of astronomical occurrences and inspirations to be found in the Biblical New Testament and Gospels. A superbly insightful Bible commentary, this book contains seventeen lectures, each of which focuses upon a specific astronomical occurrence in the New Testament. Events which draw specific influence from the constellations of the stars are charted, with each star sign identified as important to separate events depicted in the scriptures of the gospels. The nativity of Jesus Christ, wherein the Star of Bethlehem appears to the three wise men, is perhaps the most obvious incident of the astronomical. However, Seiss demonstrates that the stars above are richly significant and play a role in many of the most famous tales of the Bible. For example, when Seiss recounts the story of St. Peter's fishing, he compares the sign of Pisces, which was already widely known in the Biblical era.
Book Synopsis The Gospel & the Zodiac by : Bill Darlison
Download or read book The Gospel & the Zodiac written by Bill Darlison and published by ABRAMS. This book was released on 2008-02-14 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Darlison elucidates the zodiac’s significant place in the Gospels, most specifically in the Book of Mark . . . An intriguing leap into faith” (Kirkus Reviews). For millennia the world has been driven by the differences between the great patriarchal religions. Western civilization—or Christendom, as it was once called—received its values and its confidence from a belief in God, the Father, and Jesus, his only son. But what if this conviction were founded on an error? Who is the man in the factually inconsistent Gospel stories? And who is the man who makes a brief appearance carrying a jar of water? This extraordinary study by a Unitarian minister suggests that Jesus never existed historically; he was simply a representation of an astrological theology—a representation, simply put, of the zodiac sign of Aquarius. In The Gospel & the Zodiac, Rev. Bill Darlison demonstrates that all the other signs are present too, in perfect zodiacal order. The Gospel story is not the product of historians or eyewitnesses, but an older, mystical text produced by an ancient, esoteric school as a guide to the Age of Pisces. Every bit as revelatory and controversial as it sounds, The Gospel & the Zodiac will shake up the religious status quo, and in doing so, provide both a new look at a religious icon and a deeper understanding of the faith that binds millions together. “Darlison begins by looking at different scholarly approaches to the gospels, then outlines his astrological interpretation logically and lucidly, matching the zodiacal signs to the narrative of Mark.” —Fortean Times

These extraordinary books are read, re-read, and discussed in churches, Bible study groups, and homes everywhere. John MacArthur's The Gospel According to Jesus is one of those books. In The Gospel According to Jesus, MacArthur tackles the idea of "easy believism," challenging Christians to re-evaluate their commitment to Christ by examining their fruits. MacArthur asks, "What does it really mean to be saved?" He urges readers to understand that their conversion was more than a mere point in time, that, by definition, it includes a lifetime of obediently walking with Jesus as Lord. This 20th Anniversary edition of MacArthur's provocative, Scripture-based book contains one new chapter and is further revised to provide Christians in the 21st century a fresh perspective on the intrinsic relationship between faith and works, clearly revealing why Jesus is both Savior and Lord to all who believe. nity. This expanded edition deepens the debate over "lordship salvation" and the biblical understanding of faith and works in adding a new chapter.

Book Synopsis Mystery of the Mazzaroth by : Tim Warner
Download or read book Mystery of the Mazzaroth written by Tim Warner and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2013-03-29 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twelve signs of the Zodiac are as old as civilization itself. Yet their origin has puzzled historians. The Bible attributes the "Mazzaroth" (12 signs of the Zodiac) to God. King David wrote that a special Divine message has been heralded to all people of every language in the sky -- as the sun moves through the twelve "houses." MYSTERY of the MAZZAROTH decodes the pictorial message of the Zodiac, showing that it contains the same language of prophetic symbols found in the Bible. The Mazzaroth and the Bible contain the same prophetic story -- Israel's history written in advance. This story begins with God's covenant with Abraham and ends with its ultimate fulfillment -- the Messiah's Kingdom. Previous Christian attempts to decode the Zodiac were all based on the linguistic work of Francis Rolleston. Her theory has been thoroughly debunked. This book presents a completely new approach. Never before has the sequence of Zodiac signs been understood in light of Bible prophecy, telling the sequential story of Israel's history and redemption. This book will open your eyes to a powerful reason to believe that God exists, and that the Creator is the same God who appeared to Abraham.

Within it, he attempts to reconcile Christianity with the contemporary public's fascination with astrology by drawing fascinating connections between the twelve signs of the Zodiac and Christian symbolism. Joseph Augustus Seiss (March 18, 1823 - June 20, 1904) was an American theologian and Lutheran minister most famous for his contributions to pyramidology and dispensationalism. His best-known work is "The Great Pyramid of Egypt, Miracle in Stone: Secrets and Advanced Knowledge" (1877), considered a primary text of pyramidology. Other notable works by this author include: "The Last Times and the Great Consummation" (1856), "The Children of Silence; Or, The Story of the Deaf" (1887), and "The Letter of Jesus" (1888). This volume will appeal to modern readers with an interest in Judaism, and it would make for a worthy addition to collections of allied literature. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.
