Book excerpt: “AND SAMPSON SAID TO THE YOUNG MAN WHO HELD HIM BY THE HAND, ‘LET ME FEEL THE PILLARS ON WHICH THE HOUSE RESTS, THAT I MAY LEAN AGAINST THEM’” (Judges 16:26, ESV) Mark Finely has rightly said that there are “seven basic teachings” on which God has built His church. “Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars.” These seven pillars are essential, and “the non-negotiables:” Scripture (John 17:17) Salvation (John 3:16) Second Coming (John 14:1-3) Sabbath (John 14:15) State of the Dead (John 11:11-26) Sanctuary (John 17:4, 11, 24) Holy Spirit and Spirit of Prophecy (John 14:15-17) (Prov. 9:1; Mark Finely, Solid Ground, p. 374) “The house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth” is built on these seven pillars, 1 Tim. 3:15. Because of this, Dr. Norman identifies the church as an eight pillar. This eight pillar rests on the other seven “non-negotiables.” These “non-negotiables” are in turn rooted and grounded in Christ, and they define who we are as a biblical community of faith. Tragically though, great uncertainty concerning the pillars abound. The “non-negotiables” are under assault. And this assault will intensify as a mighty sifting sieve. “Those who seek to remove the old landmarks . . . bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary . . . [they are] working as blind men . . . [they are] seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor,” (E. G. White, Manuscript Release No. 760. P. 9, 1905). If there ever was a time, we needed the resolve of Sampson, it is now! The author hopes that this book will inspire this resolve—a resolve that will lead us back to the pillars; back to the “non-negotiables.” Like Sampson, may we feel the pillars once again, and lean on “the non-negotiables” centered in Christ.

Book excerpt: Motivated by repeated comments from parishioners, class members and even fellow clergy about difficulties in understanding the book of Revelation, the author set out to demonstrate that the book is a genuine "revelation," meant to be understood by God's people. The book title defines that goal; it really is a Magnificent Drama. The contents of Revelation are covered thoroughly but the book is no mere word-for-word commentary. Readers will think and feel with the Apostle John as he receives and records our Lord's messages about the future and into eternity. Extremes of the drama include a descent to the darkest depths of human history and will soar to unprecedented glory at the end. It's a breath-taking drama and as the word of God, it is all true, exciting reading. Ken Knappen, an ordained Baptist minister, earned Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was engaged in pastoral work for forty-four years including a six-year stint as a Conservative Baptist Association denominational staffer. Concurrent with active pastoral ministry, he served on numerous boards and committees including the National Association of Evangelicals' Board of Administration and as the vice-chair of the Buffalo/Niagara Falls Billy Graham crusade. For fourteen years following retirement in 1993, he and his wife, Mitzie, taught a Bible class in a United Methodist church.

Are you desiring a meaningful relationship with the Lord rather than a checklist of rules? This book is for you. "Being a Christian is not about being perfect. In fact, we can never live up to the letter of the law. It is only when we let go of our constant striving for perfection that we encounter true perfection." Derek Prince In this book, Spellman discuss how there are multitudes of Christians who think it's okay to habitually sin, because God's grace is accessible in the person of Christ Jesus. According to the Bible, the Lord has set boundaries to help us walk in the light. Romans 6:1,6 says "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound. Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" There are many profound books written on the subject of grace, Spellman is prayerful this book will reaffirm the richness and beauty of grace. God's grace is absolutely magnificent, no amount of pages, pamphlets, books, lectures, songs or messages can do justice or express the wealth and depth of His unmerited favor. With a focus on winning souls for the kingdom of God, Apostle Donald Spellman ministers healing and restoration-spiritually, physically, and emotionally-to the body of Christ. A pastor with military and civil service, together with his wife and co-founder of Living Word of Grace Ministries, they lead an apostolic ministry team and host a regular radio broadcast. www.lwogministries.org

Book excerpt: EGO Easing God out, No, Keep Him In In this fictional thriller, Bill Sheppard, a business owner of a human resource consulting firm, has a supernatural life-altering experience with God, coupled with a miracle-filled Christian crusade trip to Africa. Once he returned, he has a God-given purpose to impact African American high school students, shifting their paradigm from apathy to a confidence originating from personal business ownership. With uncanny assistance from a mysterious ally, Don Abad, which turns out to be an agent of God aiding Bill in his mission, or is he? After a short eighteen months, the organization’s exponential growth to 550,000 exceeded Bill’s wildest imagination, accomplished through unlikely partnerships with a school superintendent and three principals which laid their respective jobs on the line for the success of the EGO movement. Initially launched in the three worst-performing inner-city schools, the attendance exploded to 2,500 in six weeks. Training sessions were designed to inspire the students to commit to a personal paradigm shift deducting that their perception of the world was flawed as was the perception of the news media regarding inner-city students. Collaboration now became their battle cry. The suspense-filled end of the book has a couple of unexpected twists that will have the reader invigorated, going back to find out how they missed that clue. With Bill having an Abraham-Isaac type of sacrificial decision which could derail the entire EGO movement or cost Bill his life, all consummated during an interview on The Tonight Show.

Book excerpt: There are many in the church today that believe God doesn't reveal Himself in the lives of people in this modern day. The prevalent thought is that miracles, signs, and wonders were only part of the early church and that after the ascension of Jesus they stopped because they were only a part of His earthly ministry. What we must come to realize is this; the same power that raised Christ from the grave, that healed people, and raised the dead resides within each Christian. Jesus said in John 14:12, "that whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." What we as Christians must understand is that the power of God is available to each of us because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. God expects us to use this wonderful gift to edify one another bringing about unity in the body which ultimately brings Glory to Him. I can assure you that the power of God is still at work in these days and He does continually reveal Himself to His people. Jesus Himself said He would do whatever we ask in His name to bring glory to the Father. Jesus also said if we won't believe what He says, we should at least believe in the evidence of the results themselves. Miracles, signs, and wonders.

In Experiencing the Power of the Holy Spirit, he draws on Scripture to illuminate the living and active work of the Spirit. Because many believers have a limited view of their great Advocate, Counselor, Helper, and Companion, they don’t realize that in day-to-day life they can depend on Him to... encourage, guide, and correct them, and prompt them to speak or act appropriately help them identify deep motives and penetrate to the root of personal struggles help them discern in prayer what is best in a situation When believers build their lives upon reliance on the Spirit, they can live confidently in life’s stressful situations and relationships, knowing they have a Friend who is always there to help.

Book excerpt: If God can take David -- the invisible eighth son of a forgotten family -- and turn him into a king, just imagine what magnificent plans He has for redeeming your life. David was born a number 8 -- a hidden gem, often overlooked and undervalued by everyone except for God. For David, being a number 8 seemed like a curse until the day God transformed him from the unknown eighth son of Jesse into the much-honored king of Israel. When God sends out an invitation to greatness, His directions don't always make sense to us. You may feel like the most invisible, broken number 8 out there, but God sees your hidden value and is growing you for better things. David didn't know it, but his time as a simple shepherd with a dull future did not go unnoticed by God. In David's darkest moments, he was cultivating the kind of gifts, wisdom, and leadership he would need to become a king. Even when you're an underdog in the eyes of the world, God is working behind the scenes to develop you into a king or queen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, Andrew J. Schmutzer puts his hand to an in-depth study of the Creation Mandate, known within Reformed theology as the Cultural Mandate. His analysis focuses on key texts of God's blessing in Genesis 1-11. In particular, Schmutzer explores the theological significance of Genesis 1:28 using a biblical-theological approach sensitive to the biblical literature. Delving into such issues as the nature of divine blessing, humankind's royal stewardship, and the role of the image of God, this study draws the reader back to the biblical text as the "lead carriage" for foundational questions in contemporary faith. The result is theological "grist," primed to address the related issues of ecological crisis, social oppression, gender studies, and eco-theology. How one understands the Creation Mandate has serious implications. Be Fruitful and Multiply provides a sharp tool to help address these serious issues.
