Book Synopsis Observing What Is Not Happening by : Nndy Nenty
Download or read book Observing What Is Not Happening written by Nndy Nenty and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-01-27 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observing What Is Not Happening is a continuation of the author's first memoir, Where Your Knowledge Ends Is Where Mine Begins. Six chapters of this second memoir are ageless; they stem from the Word of God. They are predicated on the Word of God. Observing what isn't happening is a remark first made by Rush Limbaugh. And it was elected to be the title of my second memoir because through the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding from the Holy Spirit, I know all the ways of Man. The ways of Man are an open book to me. Man's behavior, actions, and attitudes are so obviously pronounced to me. Observing what is not happening is predicting what Man will do regardless of how long he tarries; Man will eventually do what I predict. I'm writing this book at age thirty three, the same age Jesus Christ was before He departed the world. The main characters in this memoir are God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Archangel Lucifer, Apostle Excel, Rush Limbaugh and Iifi are other prominent characters. Everything I say in this memoir stems from the Word of God.

Download or read book Arrowsmith written by Sinclair Lewis and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2023-12-16 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arrowsmith is a novel by American author Sinclair Lewis, which won him the Pulitzer Prize ...which Lewis declined. Arrowsmith is an early major novel dealing with the culture of science. It was written in the period after the reforms of medical education flowing from the Flexner Report on Medical Education in the United States and Canada: A Report to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, 1910, which had called on medical schools in the United States to adhere to mainstream science in their teaching and research. The actual story deals with trials and tribulations of Martin Arrowsmith, a brilliant doctor and scientist who wants to conquer the plague virus from spreading. But the price comes at a very heavy cost. A must read!

Book Synopsis Nightfalls in Texas by : Thomas Posey
Download or read book Nightfalls in Texas written by Thomas Posey and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-07 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nightfalls in Texas is a moving saga of life and love, of loss and redemption, of trails taken, and trails not taken. It is also a lyrical, touching, humorous, and sometimes poetic portrayal of growing up on the vast West Texas plains. Nightfalls in Texas is a story complete with all of the trials, the tribulations, and the cruel twists of fate that we all face in our shared experiences. Mr. Posey has captured the very essence of what life in a small west Texas Hamlet is like. “The Great Gatsby” meets “Giant” meets “The Last Picture Show.” He has infused his book with colorful and uniquely textured characters. The “starry-eyed-bubbas”, “small-town beauties”, “craggy land barons”, “gridiron warriors”, “town crazies”, “sage old soreheads”, “genteel debutantes”, “marauding desperadoes”, and other various and sundry characters. Nightfalls in Texas is also a story of shattered dreams and a boy’s journey into the promise land, and of another man’s lifelong search for a second chance that may never come. Finally, you are left with the remnants of a bittersweet story and a haunting ballad that will leave a searing resonance on your heart, and the sound of a distant clap of thunder on your soul.
Book Synopsis Spenser and Biblical Poetics by : Carol V. Kaske
Download or read book Spenser and Biblical Poetics written by Carol V. Kaske and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carol V. Kaske examines how the form, no less than the theology, of Spenser's writings reveals the influence of the Bible and medieval and Renaissance Biblical hermeneutics. Her approach partakes of both the old historicism and the new. Spenser and Biblical Poetics is the first comprehensive account of the contradictions and inconsistencies in Spenser's imagery—particularly in The Faerie Queene. These and his well-known contradictions in doctrine Kaske accepts and celebrates. She shows that Spenser challenges the reader with problems arising from his endorsement of both Protestant and Catholic traditions. She connects Spenser's contradictory style not only with such religious topics (for example, adiaphorism) but also with secular ones such as colonialism, the conflict between nature and culture, and the policies of the Queen. Spenser and Biblical Poetics makes an indispensable contribution to the history of reading in the Renaissance.
Book Synopsis Gadfly: Reading Church Through Reading Jesus by : John George Arthur
Download or read book Gadfly: Reading Church Through Reading Jesus written by John George Arthur and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Arthur is looking for a church. Not literally of course, those are quite easy to spot usually. He is looking for "a reading" of church through a reading of Jesus. He wants to examine whether the Jesus we have in the church is, well, big enough really. Are the relationships we pursue, with God and each other, the authentic and costly ones Jesus exemplified, or diluted by our expectations and culture? Have we formed an edgy activism around Jesus’ call to risk and journey, or a policy of endurance? Has the church fully accepted Jesus’ trust of an incomplete kingdom? Gadfly is a conversational essay, part philosophy, part social observation and lots of unconventional exegesis posing questions about the purpose of Bible reading, the nature of Jesus and their implications for church identity. It challenges the dry readings of systematic theology that dominate so much of the public expression of the Bible in our churches. Gadfly wants to replace this with a call to risk-laden intimacy - the missing sacrament of the modern church. ,

Download or read book Early Christian Witnesses written by and published by ATF Press. This book was released on 2022-11-20 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The articles and talks included in this collection cover fifty years of theological engagement, the primary focus being on education for ministry in Australia and abroad. Despite the diversity of topics, such as hermeneutics, New Testament theology, preaching, ecumenical relations, and early church history, there is a connecting concern to listen to the unique voices of early Christian witnesses as foundational for the faith and the apostolic claims of the church in its present-day witness. The publication of these essays has been suggested for some time. Despite my reluctance to reissue articles written over a period of more than five decades, I have relented in the hope that there will be enough to engage the interest of a variety of readers, and not only former students in seminaries and theological colleges in Australia and various places overseas. Included here are mainly articles written specifically for publication in journals, but also lectures and talks to various groups of clergy, lay people, and theological students. Of prime concern has always been the explication of the Christian faith according to its earliest witnesses in the early church of apostles and martyrs. Faith remains attested and lived, approved not proven.
