Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You can learn a lot about yourself if you pay careful attention for one full year. Here are 365 daily meditations that, through their brutal confessionalism, will unearth the stoic in you. God Bless the Broken Bones won’t tickle your ears with pleasant words. Instead what you’ll find is a year of one man’s seemingly uncensored thoughts, fears, frustrations, longings, gratitude, and self-exhortations. Raw yet eloquent, William Ferraiolo’s musings reveal the daily challenges to living a life of equanimity and honor, and why there’s no worthier goal. At times this book might offend you. It will certainly challenge you. And if you’re willing, it might change you. I recommend you see for yourself. Seth J. Book excerpt: "After a childhood marked by abuse and dysfunction, Penny Maxwell knows how challenging the journey to healing can be. Healing hurts, and Maxwell knows how enticing it is to walk with wounds and dysfunction rather than endure the pain it takes to truly be free. In Setting Broken Bones, Maxwell shares hard truths she learned through her own healing journey and challenges readers to trust God with their hurts. Using the analogy of a person walking around with broken physical bones that never healed properly, Maxwell confronts readers with the truth: we can either walk around in pain with bones that were never healed or experience temporary pain to have them set properly so healing can occur. Sharing from her personal story, Maxwell provides: Powerful teachings from God’s Word ; Practical ways to walk free from a painful past no matter what your personal struggles have been ; Guidance to face the pain you’ve been hiding to experience healing and freedom. Sometimes Christians wrap bandages around their pain with more church, more good works, more Bible reading plans, and other seemingly spiritual activities to distract themselves from the pain. This book will help you face the pain you have been hiding from so it can be healed once and for all. Whether you have come from a painful past yourself, have a loved one who is still trapped in that pain, or desire to minister to people who are on the path to healing from pain, this book will reveal God’s heart toward that pain, and show you how He will heal it when you surrender it to Him." -- Amazon.com.

This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 1046 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 15 Sermons 848-907 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book excerpt: The story of David's bones is a story of his struggle with sin, in others against him, but, foremost within himself. In Psalm 51 broken bones became a metaphor for a soul in anguish, a despondency that weakened resolve and drained any enthusiasm for life. Broken bones do not dance, which means, broken bones do not celebrate in song and music the Lord's grand victories among His people. Nothing could be more descriptive of David's heart and spirit after Nathan-not literally but in every way more real-entered the bed chamber and threw back the sheets, uncovering David's indefensible act of depravity. David knew Nathan was God-sent. After this David didn't find Temple worship the same as before. In his misery, sacrifices no longer seemed the gifts of love they were intended to be-not until he sought and received God's mercy, . That's the story of Psalm 51. Consider this work to be an exposition on this Psalm, but it is more. It is the record also of my struggle with sin, my personal agony when temptation appeared more monstrous than it really was. Psalm 51 should speak to us all. Psalm 51 is alive with the tears, the agony, and the longing of a servant's heart to put to rest the turbulence of a tortured memory. ..And God? He still speaks, "Peace, be still" to the waves

[This novel] may be the strongest and most compelling since the opener, How Few Remain.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review) Seventy years have passed since the first War Between the States. Jake Featherston, leader of the ruling Freedom Party, has won power in the South—and is taking his country and the world to the edge of an abyss. Charismatic and shrewd, he is whipping the Confederate States into a frenzy of hatred. Blacks are being rounded up and sent to prison camps, and the persecution has just begun. As the North stumbles through a succession of leaders, Featherston is feeling his might. With the U.S.A. locked in a bitter, bloody occupation of Canada, facing an intractable rebellion in Utah, and fatigued from a war in the Pacific against Japan, Featherston may pursue one dangerous proposition above all: that he can defeat the U.S.A. in an all-out war. Praise for The Victorious Opposition “Turtledove’s Great War/American Empire series is an epic achievement, a meticulously worked-out alternate history of the twentieth century’s great two-act tragedy. . . . Bravo! A fine performance by a master-craftsman.”—S. M. Stirling, author of Island in the Sea of Time “Anyone who loves history will love what Harry Turtledove can do with it.”—Larry Bond, New York Times bestselling author of Red Phoenix

Book excerpt: In this life, we often find ourselves in the haziness and uncertainties of life, starting a new day only to discover that we are spinning and toiling in the repetitive cycles of brokenness and simply existing and functioning within the limitations that the enemy has placed on us. The truth is that the Father's heart for us is to be made whole in Him and to be redeemed from every form of barrenness. How is it that we experience God's true heart's desire for our lives? How do we come out of the place of despondency and take the land of fruitfulness that God Himself has promised? How do we walk in God's immeasurable favor that He has established in the heavens and earth? In my new book, I share my personal testimonies and scriptures of how the hand of God has transformed the broken areas of my life. Together, we will discover the power of the true and living God together. We have dwelled in a place of darkness for an extended time period. The time has come to experience and know the healer of broken bones and hearts.

Book excerpt: 'Epictetus Handbook is the best extant account of ancient Stoicism, and it still ranks as one of the most useful self-help manuals in today’s world. Through relatable contemporary applications and accessible explanations, Dr. Ferraiolo guides the reader reliably through all of the sayings in the Handbook to bring out their core meaning, which can be obscured by references to ancient social customs, events and philosophers.' Lou Matz, Professor of Philosophy, University of the Pacific In Slave and Sage William Ferraiolo distills and reanimates the original spirit of Epictetus’ Enchiridion for a 21st century audience, and shows how the lessons Epictetus offered are more relevant than ever to modern life. Much like the original stoics, Ferraiolo's work prides itself on a combination of erudition and accessibility, to teach and counsel every reader. "This little gem of philosophical insight will help you dig down into the best wisdom of the ancient Stoic philosopher, Epictetus, and see how it can apply powerfully in our lives today. Highly recommended." Tom Morris, author of The Stoic Art of Living
