Book excerpt: So much has been written about the Prophet of Islam, may God's blessings and peace be upon him and his family, that one may well wonder whether yet another book is called for. However, so much is known about him and there are so many ways of presenting and interpreting the material that any new work potentially has something additional to offer.Glimpses from the life of the Blessed Prophet being relatively short, it does not contain so much detail as to become arduous to read; nor is it so brief as to lose its informative power or the spiritual fragrance of that emanates from the life of the Supreme Divine Envoy. It provides essential information about the Prophet's background, ancestry, character, and household, the various stages of his life, his miracles, and his political and military activities. It is therefore a useful summary of the most important facts about him. It also shows how the Prophet envisaged his mission: what he wished to achieve for mankind and for his Community. Firstly, the Prophet's words and deeds, preserved in full detail for posterity by his Companions and transmitted meticulously from generation to generation, show how concerned he was to save disbelievers from the consequences of their denial of the One True God and of a Day of Judgement. He ordered his Community to transmit his message on his behalf as best they could, and to do so gently and tactfully. To exterminate them would result in their dying as disbelievers and deserving Hellfire, and so he fought only in self-defense. He enjoined upon his Community to keep their promises and pacts even with disbelievers. The second function was to make the believers better Muslims who excelled in their adoration of their Lord, and in their behavior toward others. The third function was to found an exemplary Islamic state, ruled with justice, where both Muslims and non-Muslims enjoyed the full protection of the Sacred Law and were able to worship in full freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Portraits from the Life of the Prophet" offers a captivating glimpse into the extraordinary life and character of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. For almost fourteen centuries, his name has stirred the hearts of millions, and this book beautifully encapsulates his resplendent legacy. In a world once clouded by misunderstanding and bias, this book stands as a beacon of enlightenment. It showcases the unwavering respect and admiration expressed by thinkers, philosophers, and scholars from diverse backgrounds who have recognized the greatness of Prophet Muhammad. Annie Besant, in "The Life and Teachings of Muhammad," hails him as a "mighty Prophet" whose teachings inspire reverence. W. Montgomery, in his writings, finds in him a man of integrity, and his readiness to endure persecution for his beliefs only underscores his authenticity. Yet, despite these accolades, the Western world has struggled to fully comprehend the brilliance of Prophet Muhammad's message. Misunderstandings persist, and it falls upon conscientious Muslims and their fair-minded non-Muslim friends to bridge the gaps through dialogue, communication, and informative publications. This book, "Portraits from the Life of the Prophet," invites readers to explore the life of this noble Prophet, providing a platform for interfaith dialogue and promoting the universal good that Islam and its teachings seek for all of humanity. As the world grows smaller, we must build bridges of understanding and harmony with our non-Muslim neighbors, emphasizing that Islam, through its Prophet, heralds blessings for the entire human race. In presenting this insightful treatise, we hope to foster mutual respect and appreciation among all readers. May Almighty Allah accept this effort as a sincere act performed solely for His sake, and may it serve as a source of enlightenment and inspiration for all who engage with it. Amen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his quest for the historical Muhammad, Zeitlin's chief aim is to catch glimpses of the birth of Islam and the role played by its extraordinary founder. Islam, as its Prophet came to conceive it, was a strict and absolute monotheism. How Muhammad had arrived at this view is not a problem for Muslims, who believe that the Prophet received a revelation from Allah or God, mediated by the Angel Gabriel. For scholars, however, interested in placing Muhammad in the historical context of the seventh-century Arabian Peninsula, the source of the Prophets inspiration is a significant question. It is apparent that the two earlier monotheisms, Judaism and Christianity, constituted an influential presence in the Hijaz, the region comprising Mecca and Medina. Indeed, Jewish communities were salient here, especially in Medina and other not-too-distant oases. Moreover, in addition to the presence of Jews and Christians, there existed a third category of individuals, the Hanifs, who, dissatisfied with their polytheistic beliefs, had developed monotheistic ideas. Zeitlin assesses the extent to which these various influences shaped the emergence of Islam and the development of the Prophets beliefs. He also seeks to understand how the process set in motion by Muhammad led, not long after his death, to the establishment of a world empire.

He was a man admired and loved by his followers, and respected by his enemies for being a brilliant leader and a charismatic founder of a nation. He's the man whom without the almost two billion Muslims who exist today wouldn't have been here following this faith. He is the final prophet according to Islam and the messenger of Allah. Here, we offer you a light-hearted summary of his life, with all its stages from birth to death. We further provide all the basic incidents that occurred during his life and some of the most crucial interactions between him and others. All this in a book, no longer than 30 pages that can be read in one sitting, that, nevertheless, introduces you to the man who managed to spread Islam, the second largest religion in the world today. Inspired by the infamous book "Understanding the life of prophet Muhammad" by Al-Ghazali, this book walks you through the birth of Islam until its leader passed away and the struggles he went through to deliver his message. This is a book suitable for non-Muslims who would like to catch a glimpse into the life of this great man and gain insight into the origins of Islam. It is, also, suitable for Muslims who would like to acquire more knowledge about the life of their role model and the prophet they lovingly follow.
