Book excerpt: Every so often, a book comes along, which challenges everything we think we know about love and relationships; a book that takes us on an incredible journey and allows us to glimpse those rare moments in life when love truly conquers all and sometimes the most unlikely candidates find themselves drawn to each other like bees to nectar. This is one such book. In this book, you will discover that true love has no boundaries. It is the glue that holds the pages of life together for two unlikely souls who just happen to discover that love is timeless and does not come with an expiration date. This book represents the intense love a man has for his wife. It's an uncommon union, to be sure, but make no mistake about it, for the love shared by these two unlikely people is real and true. You only need to read this love letter written by man to his wife to understand that true love cannot be quenched or stopped; it continues to grow into something intense and beautiful. What makes this book special is that it proves that fairytales can really come true when you let them. Here's one that did. ]I was both entertained and fascinated. It is a powerful story and well told. A great read.] John Hughes-Wilson (British Writer)"
Book Synopsis Things Happen When Two Agree by : Geraldine Dixon
Download or read book Things Happen When Two Agree written by Geraldine Dixon and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Things Happen When Two Agree is a story about how my husband and I managed to live and be there for each other. When I was down, he was a caretaker for me. He took care of me after I had my hip replacement and when I went through an almost near death situation. I came very close to dying. My family thought that every day would be my last day. James held on in faith with me believing that God would restore my health as He had promised me. God continued to tell me to just trust Him and I did. I got down to 120 pounds from 200 pounds, but God is faithful. 2 Timothy 2:12, 13 tell us, If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: If we deny Him, He will also deny us: If we are faithful, if we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself. James met with a serious accident and I became his caretaker in May of 2002. He was not bedridden, but he needed a lot of care. The Lord had raised me up on my feet and I was strong enough to take care of him. When we took our marriage vows 57 years ago, we planned to stick by them. We promised to love each other in sickness and in health until death separated us. This is what has kept us together through the hard times and the good times; we vowed to love and stay together to the end.

Book Synopsis Hutterite to Independence by : Esther Stahl Taylor
Download or read book Hutterite to Independence written by Esther Stahl Taylor and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story, in her own words, of a woman who grew up in a dictatorial and oppressive religious societyaEUR"one where individuals were told that swearing allegiance to the society got them to heaven. But God found this young woman and opened her heart and spirit to the truth of Jesus Christ and faith in him only. Esther Stahl was born a Hutterite in Montana, and this is the story of what her life was like in a Hutterite colony, where everything is owned by the colony and all major (and many minor) decisions are dictated by the Preacher and the Boss, down to the clothes that are worn and the structure of the homes. Esther grew up dealing with death within her family, oppression by tradition, ridicule and rejection from others, superstitions, and witchcraft. As a teenager, she accepted Christ and had to stand for that faith almost immediately. This is her story, from birth and childhood, through school, teenage years, and young adulthood, until she found the courage and means to leave her heritage, go to Bible school, and establish a life and family outside the colony. It is a story of perseverance, faith, and victory.

Download or read book N written by James Henry Harris and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2021-10-26 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a Black man's experience of reading Mark Twain's classic Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for the first time while in graduate school. The story captures the author's emotional struggle with Twain's use of the racial epithet more than two hundred times in the text. Author James Henry Harris reports being relieved to come to the end of the semester of "encountering Twain's use of [the forbidden word] every week. . . . I was teetering on the brink of falling apart. . . . For the first time the class seemed to understand my painful struggle, and my plight as a Black man in class was a metaphor, a symbol of the past, present, and postmodern condition of American society." This is a courageous memoir that wrestles with the historic stain of racism and the ongoing impact of racist language in postmodern society. The book is about Harris's flashbacks, conversations, and dilemmas spawned by use of the epithet in a classroom setting where the author was the only Black person. His diary-like reflections reveal his skill as a keen reader of culture and literature. In these pages, Harris challenges his instructor and classmates and inspires readers to redress the long history of American racism and white supremacy bound up with the N-word. He reflects on how current Black artists and others use the word in a different way with the intention of empowering or claiming the term. But Harris is not convinced that even this usage does not further feed the word's racist roots. Healing racial division begins with understanding the deep impact our words can have to tear down or to heal. This book invites the reader into this important conversation.
