Durch die Diskussion relevanter Gendertheorien (Heteronormativität, Heterosexismus, Homophobie, Dekonstruktivismus und die Bedeutung der Zweigeschlechterordnung) werden die abgeleiteten Ergebnisse in einen übergeordneten Zusammenhang gebracht. Die Definition themenrelevanter Begriffe und die Darstellung von Ausmaß, Formen/Dimensionen und Auswirkungen Häuslicher Gewalt legen in Kapitel 2 wesentliche Grundsteine für diese Arbeit. Das 3. Kapitel stellt mit der Vorstellung und Diskussion von relevanten Studien- und Forschungsergebnissen einen der beiden Schwerpunkte dar. Mithilfe anschaulicher Beispiele aus Interviews und Fragebögen werden Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede Häuslicher Gewalt in hetero-und homosexuellen Paarbeziehungen miteinander verglichen. Da Häusliche Gewalt immer vor dem Hintergrund von Gewalt im Geschlechterverhältnis betrachtet werden muss, wird die Thematik im 4. Kapitel auf der Grundlage einer geschlechtssensiblen Perspektive in einen größeren Kontext gesetzt. Aus gendersensibler Perspektive wird sich der Frage nach Ursachen Häuslicher Gewalt angenähert. Formen struktureller Diskriminierung in der Gesellschaft, aktuelle Rechtslage und Rechtsschutz sexueller Minderheiten, Homophobie in der Gesellschaft und Reaktionen der Betroffenen werden in Ausschnitten besprochen. Schließlich wird der theoretische Hintergrund von struktureller Diskriminierung erläutert: Wie beeinflusst das in der Gesellschaft verankerte heterosexuelle Verständnis von Häuslicher Gewalt Schutz- und Hilfemaßnahmen? Die Arbeit schließt im 5. Kapitel mit Überlegungen, Forderungen und Handlungsempfehlungen zur Prävention und Intervention auf den Ebenen von Politik, Justiz, Behörden und sozialen Einrichtungen. Scientific progress has led to a startling loss of traditional human self-understanding. This development is in contrast to an under standing according to which the question what it means to be "human" is treated in the realm of philosophy. And indeed, a closer look reveals that - without denying the value of scientitic progress - science cannot replace the philosophical approach to anthropological questions.
