Es wird dabei keiner speziellen Untersuchungsfrage nachgegangen, sondern eine Zustandsbeschreibung aus kriminologischer Sicht durchgeführt. Das oben genannte Phänomen schließt mit dem Begriff "Gewalt" viele untereinander abzugrenzende Formen ein. Diese sollen vorerst klar differenziert werden, da nicht alle Ausprägungen in der Arbeit behandelt werden. Die Gewaltstraftaten an Schulen reichen von Beleidigung über systematisches Mobbing bis hin zu Körperverletzungen oder sogar vereinzelt zu Tötungsdelikten. Weiterhin kann der Extremfall "Amok" auftreten. Da die Bereiche Tötungsdelikte und Amok sehr weitreichend behandelbar sind und eine ausgeprägte Bearbeitung erfordern würden, um die Phänomene ausreichend darzustellen, werden diese in der folgenden Ausarbeitung nicht behandelt. Mit dem Konfliktfeld „Gewalt an Schulen“ werden hier somit verbale, psychische und physische Gewalt bezeichnet, wobei Tötungsdelikte und Amok im Bereich physischer Gewalt ausgenommen sind. Die Zustandsbeschreibung aus kriminologischer Sicht erfolgt so, dass vorerst essenzielle Definitionen von Begriffen gebracht werden, welche im späteren Verlauf von hoher Bedeutung sind. Anschließend werden die einzelnen Gewaltformen differenziert und erläutert. Daraufhin werden mehrere kriminologische Erklärungsansätze für die Entstehung der Gewalt niedergelegt. Im Anschluss sollen dann Ergebnisse zweier Studien, welche sich unter anderem mit den Auswirkungen von Gewalttaten an Schulen und den dazugehörigen Fallzahlen beschäftigen, vorgetragen werden. Diese Erkenntnisse werden dann auf zwei Prävention bzw. Interventionsprogramme übertragen, um nach deren detaillierter Vorstellung eine Eignung des Programms zur Prävention von Gewalttaten an Schulen zu überprüfen. Schlussendlich werden dann die Ergebnisse der Thesis gebündelt wiedergegeben und ein Resümee gezogen.
