In this highly procedural text, each surgical technique is presented clearly and distinctly in a step-by-step fashion. This book is for undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and continuing education students, as well as for current practitioners who are students of implant dentistry in the broader sense, those who wish to deepen their knowledge and expand their scope of treatment. Book excerpt: This manual will help oral implantologists to understand the principles that underlie the use of basal implants as a means to provide simple solutions to complex and highly demanding clinical situations without the need for prior bone grafting. It will also serve as a richly illustrated practical guide to application of the technique. The book is in three parts, the first of which discusses basic principles and related themes, including osteogenesis, osseointegration, cortical anchorage stability, biomechanics, surgical techniques, and basal implant prosthodontics. Step-by-step guidance is then offered on the application of these principles, focusing on operating techniques, 3D treatment planning, transitional and final screw-secured prostheses, and postoperative follow-up. The third part of the book addresses a wide range of clinical situations that can be treated by basal implantology, with particular attention to the treatment of high, thin alveolar ridges and the atrophic maxilla and mandible and to the correction of previous implant failures, as well as complications and postimplantation neuropathies.

Readers will find clear descriptions and comparative evaluation of the available methods, techniques, and devices. Complications that may arise during the management of fractured instruments are described, and the impact of retained file fragments on the prognosis of endodontic treatment is discussed. In addition, means of preventing iatrogenic errors from occurring in the first place (the best form of management) are explained, emphasizing that the risk of instrument failure is reduced if proper guidelines are carefully considered and followed. The book will assist both endodontists and general dental practitioners in achieving an optimal outcome when confronted with the time-consuming and challenging task of dealing with a fractured instrument within the root canal – a still frequent circumstance despite the plethora of improvements in instrument design, alloy composition, and manufacturing processes.

Book Synopsis The Criminology of Edwin Sutherland by : Mark S. Gaylord
Download or read book The Criminology of Edwin Sutherland written by Mark S. Gaylord and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-10-14 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edwin Sutherland is the acknowledged father of American criminology. This is the first full-length analysis of his work and his person. Unlike the European schools of criminology, which sought to locate deviant behaviour within the deep structures of the economy, Sutherland eschewed such explanations in favour of proximate and observable causes. He located the sources of crime in the association and interaction of specific groups of people. For Sutherland, crime as a way of life results from an individual's attachment to criminals for whom criminal acts are a measure of success no less than a way of life. In a series of publications, Sutherland expanded the horizons of the classic "Chicago School" of interactionists, and in the process founded criminology as a separate area of research while locating it firmly within sociology. As the authors show, Sutherland's work was inspired by strong moral concerns and a sense of the needs of society for social order without falling prey to either blaming the victim or pandering to sentiment about the joys of criminal life. In this sense, he is a model of the sociological tradition long deserving of the biography acknowledging his role as a master and pioneer. Yet Gaylord and Galliher have written more than an intellectual biography. They take seriously the need to fit Sutherland and his "theory of differential association" into a social and historical context. They are also aware and critically straightforward about the limitations of Sutherland's work in criminology, but place both his achievements and their limitations in a fully developed analytical context.

Download or read book Wolfgang Laib written by Klaus Ottmann and published by Hatje Cantz Pub. This book was released on 2000 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wolfgang Laib's breathtaking and quietly beautiful artwork draws on the ritual life he leads in and with nature and its processes of becoming and forgetting. His works are composed of purely natural materials, collected and processed by the artist himself in the 70s, he created his first milk stone, and then moved on to sifting pollen into "color miracles" or piling it into "insurmountable mountains"; in the 80s, he began to incorporate rice into his pieces; and towards the end of the decade he began working in beeswax. This gorgeous retrospective of his work -- with texts by Klaus Ottman and Margit Rowell, and interview between the artist and Harold Szeeman -- offers us a key to fully appreciating his complex and transcendent body of work.
