Ce document traite de la définition, le développement et l'évaluation des techniques permettant de mettre en œuvre de d'utiliser efficacement le rejet par priorités afin d'améliorer la performance de la diffusion vidéo. Nous étudions deux lignes : dans la première, nous proposons l'algorithme RIO-Adaptatif qui cherche à simplifier la configuration des routeurs et à maintenir le délai dans un intervalle borné. Dans la seconde, nous proposons des stratégies d'intégration entre la vidéo H.264 et le réseau AF cherchant à réduire la dégradation visuelle, spécialement dans le contexte des réseaux UMTS. L'étude est faite avec une nouvelle méthode d'évaluation de qualité basée sur des réseaux de neurones.

Furthermore, the availability of low bit rate video and audio applications (e.g., H.263 and G.728) and the proliferation of pervasive devices create a new demand for wireless multimedia communication systems. After a decade or more of research and development in multimedia networking, the research community has learned a number of lessons. First, increasing the capacity of the “best effort” networks and services does not provide an effective and permanent solution for offering a guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). Second, the integration of service and network management is a key element in providing end to end service management. Third, management techniques for Internet multimedia services must be scalable and adaptive to guarantee QoS and maintain fairness with optimal network resource.

This book describes different methods to investigate users' QoE from the viewpoint of technical and non-technical parameters using multimedia services. It discusses the subjective methods for both controlled and uncontrolled environments. Collected datasets are used to analyze users' profiles, which sheds light on key factors to help network service providers understand end-users' behavior and expectations. Important adaptive video streaming technologies are discussed that run on unmanaged networks to achieve certain QoS features. The authors present a scheduling method to allocate resources to the end-user based on users' QoE and optimizes the power efficiency of users' device for LTE-A.
