Book Synopsis Geology and Metallogeny of the Stewart Mining Camp, Northwestern British Columbia by : Dani J. Alldrick
Download or read book Geology and Metallogeny of the Stewart Mining Camp, Northwestern British Columbia written by Dani J. Alldrick and published by Province of British Columbia, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. This book was released on 1993 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents the geological setting of the mining camp and geologic features of the major mineral deposit types. New ideas about the tectonic setting and metallogenic history of the district are also presented. The area lies near the eastern margin of the Coast Mountains at the head of the Portland Canal, a fiord 115 kilometres long, which marks the southeastern boundary between the Alaska Panhandle and northwestern British Columbia.
Book Synopsis Geologic Modeling and Mapping by : Andrea Förster
Download or read book Geologic Modeling and Mapping written by Andrea Förster and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a compendium of papers on the subject, as noted in the book title, of modeling and mapping. They were presented at the 25th Anniversary meeting of the International Association for Mathematical Geology (IAMG) at Praha (Prague), Czech Republic in October of 1993. The Association, founded at the International Geological Congress (IGC) in Prague in 1968, returned to its origins for its Silver Anniversary celebration. All in all 146 papers by 276 authors were offered for the 165 attendees at the 3-day meeting convened in the Hotel Krystal. It was a time for remembrance and for future prognostication. The selected papers in Geologic Modeling and Mapping comprise a broad range of powerful techniques used nowadays in the earth sciences. Modeling stands for reconstruction of geological features, such as subsurface structure, in space and time, as well as for simulation of geological processes both providing scenarios of geologic events and how these events might have occurred. Mapping stands for spatial analysis of data, a topic that always has been an extremely important part of the earth sciences. Because both modeling and mapping are used widely in conjunction, the book title should reflect the close relation of the subjects rather than a division. Here, we bring together a collection of papers that hopefully contribute to the growing amount of knowledge on these techniques.

Book Synopsis Geomathematics: Theoretical Foundations, Applications and Future Developments by : Frits Agterberg
Download or read book Geomathematics: Theoretical Foundations, Applications and Future Developments written by Frits Agterberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a wealth of geomathematical case history studies performed by the author during his career at the Ministry of Natural Resources Canada, Geological Survey of Canada (NRCan-GSC). Several of the techniques newly developed by the author and colleagues that are described in this book have become widely adopted, not only for further research by geomathematical colleagues, but by government organizations and industry worldwide. These include Weights-of-Evidence modelling, mineral resource estimation technology, trend surface analysis, automatic stratigraphic correlation and nonlinear geochemical exploration methods. The author has developed maximum likelihood methodology and spline-fitting techniques for the construction of the international numerical geologic timescale. He has introduced the application of new theory of fractals and multi fractals in the geostatistical evaluation of regional mineral resources and ore reserves and to study the spatial distribution of metals in rocks. The book also contains sections deemed important by the author but that have not been widely adopted because they require further research. These include the geometry of preferred orientations of contours and edge effects on maps, time series analysis of Quaternary retreating ice sheet related sedimentary data, estimation of first and last appearances of fossil taxa from frequency distributions of their observed first and last occurrences, tectonic reactivation along pre-existing schistosity planes in fold belts, use of the grouped jackknife method for bias reduction in geometrical extrapolations and new applications of the theory of permanent, volume-independent frequency distributions.
