This book was released on 2020-06-12 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metals are used at an extremely high rate in the industrial and manufacturing fields. Exemplary properties including strength and ductility have made this material highly dynamic; however, the risk of corrosion remains a vital issue. The study of corrosion prevention has attracted interest from researchers and professionals as new technologies are emerging that can assist in the prevention of material destruction. However, research is lacking on the application of these protective technologies within specific fields. New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control provides emerging research exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of protective methods against corrosion and the implementation of these techniques within a wide span of professional disciplines. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as molecular modeling, surface treatments, and biomaterials, this book is ideally designed for engineers, industrial chemists, material scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians, practitioners, and students seeking current research on the technological advancements in corrosion protection in various professional scopes.

Book Synopsis Evaluation of Corrosion Protection Methods for Reinforced Concrete Highway Structures by : Jennifer L. Kepler
Download or read book Evaluation of Corrosion Protection Methods for Reinforced Concrete Highway Structures written by Jennifer L. Kepler and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1970s, research projects and field studies have been conducted on different methods for protecting reinforced concrete bridges from corrosion damage. The methods include alternative reinforcement and slab design, barrier methods, electrochemical methods, and corrosion inhibitors. Each method and its underlying principles are described, performance results of laboratory and/or field trials are reviewed, and systems are evaluated based on the results of the trials. Using performance results from the studies and costs obtained from transportation agencies, an economic analysis is used to estimate the cost of each system over a 75-year economic life using discount rates of 2%, 4% and 6%.
Book Synopsis Corrosion Protection by : Yash Paul Virmani
Download or read book Corrosion Protection written by Yash Paul Virmani and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recognizing the burden that reinforcing steel corrosion imposes on natural resources, the Federal Highway Administration established Corrosion Protection for Concrete Bridges as one of the high-priority areas (HPAs) in its Structures Research Program. This report summarizes the progress made through research efforts conducted under these programs. The results presented cover (A) corrosion control in new concrete constructions (adequate concrete cover, quality concrete, rebar coatings, corrosion inhibiting admixtures, and corrosion protection of prestressed concrete bridge members) and (B) corrosion control for rehabilitation of existing concrete structures (conventional rehabilitation methods, cathodic protection, and electrochemical removal of chloride).

Book Synopsis Corrosion Control for Offshore Structures by : Ramesh Singh
Download or read book Corrosion Control for Offshore Structures written by Ramesh Singh and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A variable game changer for those companies operating in hostile, corrosive marine environments, Corrosion Control for Offshore Structures provides critical corrosion control tips and techniques that will prolong structural life while saving millions in cost. In this book, Ramesh Singh explains the ABCs of prolonging structural life of platforms and pipelines while reducing cost and decreasing the risk of failure. Corrosion Control for Offshore Structures places major emphasis on the popular use of cathodic protection (CP) combined with high efficiency coating to prevent subsea corrosion. This reference begins with the fundamental science of corrosion and structures and then moves on to cover more advanced topics such as cathodic protection, coating as corrosion prevention using mill applied coatings, field applications, and the advantages and limitations of some common coating systems. In addition, the author provides expert insight on a number of NACE and DNV standards and recommended practices as well as ISO and Standard and Test Methods. Packed with tables, charts and case studies, Corrosion Control for Offshore Structures is a valuable guide to offshore corrosion control both in terms of its theory and application. - Prolong the structural life of your offshore platforms and pipelines - Understand critical topics such as cathodic protection and coating as corrosion prevention with mill applied coatings - Gain expert insight on a number of NACE and DNV standards and recommended practices as well as ISO and Standard Test Methods.
