Book excerpt: Is the glass half-empty or half-full? This book takes an expanded look at the proverbial question and challenges the traditional approach that the answer must be one or the other. In thinking that the glass is half-empty, we accept the pessimistic perspective that there isn’t enough “stuff,” that maybe this is all there is. This is a disempowering way to look at life and creates a vicious cycle of limiting beliefs of doubt, worry, disappointment, and fear. Conversely, if we look at the glass as half-full, we take an optimistic perspective that we've got something good going, life is grand. Yet, there is that lingering sense that something may still be missing. What is presented in this book is something different. How about looking at the glass as always full? In Full Glass Living, the author shares her life journey through emotional sensitivity and a mood disorder to adopt an enlightened perception of both the water and space being vitally important to sustain life. Full Glass Living: 28 Days to Dump Limiting Beliefs is about how we can use tools to influence and empower ourselves. The thing is we don’t do it all alone.

Book excerpt: An astonishing novel that seizes the heart, and sets age-old conflicts against modern life. All the Living has the timeless quality of a parable, evoking a time and place with such beauty and power that it is unforgettable. It’s a hot, dry summer and a young woman travels to Kentucky with her lover, Orren, to the isolated tobacco farm he has inherited after his family dies in a terrible accident. As he works through the drought, Aloma struggles to find her way in a combative, erotically charged relationship with this taciturn man. Her growing friendship with a local charismatic preacher further complicates her sense of lonely dissatisfaction as she grapples with the eternal question of whether it is better to fight for freedom or submit to desire. Excerpt: At first she could see his figure only as a dark shape and the sun firing on the watch on his right arm as he turned the wheel. Then when he was finally before her, braking and leaning in slightly under the shade of the visor to pull the keys from the ignition, she found the broad contours of his face and the color of his skin, much browner than the last time she had seen him, the day after the funeral three weeks ago when he came down to the school and sat beside her and set a question to her. He said, You’ll come up? And she said, Yes, yes. And it don’t matter if it’s all out of order like it is? And she shook her head and took his blanched face in her hands and kissed him, and that had struck her later as an odd reversal, he usually being the one to reach out and pull her to him.

Book excerpt: For seventeen years I lived in Americas first housing projects. Ive witnessed in full contrast the struggles of living in poverty the drugs and the everyday violence. Statistics read that I would never see the year two thousand because of "Black on black crime". In the nineteen eighties throughout the mid nineties, seven out of ten African American males were dying because of Black on Black crime. My story is one that is rarely told or heard coming from the projects, in the voice of a precarious child to a dysfunctional teenager, and a spiritually broken young man. As people we love to reminisce and we all have those memories that are forever burned into our mind. Some memories make us feel emotional either happy or sad. Then some people are witnesses to some things in life and those memories haunt them. I'm a witness and those memories are now a part of my testimony in a unique read titled "Almost A Failure, my life without Jesus Christ. My proposed title Almost a Failure will take the reader inside my life and my family. This book will give inspiration and spiritual motivation to the young adults, teens, and the adults from my generation and those who love to read real life testimonies. I also discuss two controversial topics. The hip-hop industry and politics and religion, my endeavors in the music business and how politics and religion affect the way we live in Black America.

At the age of forty-seven the author’s worst time dragged her into a whirlpool of self-pity. While suicide was knocking on her door, God sent an angel to save her life. God seems to delight in choosing unlikely saviors; Moses the stutter and Noah the alcoholic are two. The angel God sent to this author was a quadriplegic named Angelina Ayudar. With perfect timing, Angelina threw a lifesaver into the whirlpool that was taking the author down. After working a few months with Angelina, the author realized that this quadriplegic was living the fulfilled life the author craved. Little by little Angelina taught the author how to live a spirit-filled life, and this has made all the difference. The characters in the book have been given anonymous names in order to protect everyone involved. The events in this book occurred over twenty years ago, and many of the characters are deceased, including Angelina and Silass. Everything in this book is as true as the author’s twenty-year-old memory can make it.

Book excerpt: The Seven Motivations of Life helps you to answer big questions in your life, such as: who am I and how can I lead myself and others more effectively? This book predicts human behaviours while giving clear and practical ways to be more effective both professionally and personally. It defines the key characteristics of 'being human' while shedding light on common life experiences. This theory gives major and sometimes surprising insights into being human and humanity. It identifies the four, and only four ways, to lead and it fully explains the empirical results of what makes a great leader which were identified by Jim Collins in his bestselling book: GOOD TO GREAT. In many ways, Collins' book provides the facts while this book provides the theory. For instance, Graham Robertson (VP & MD, McCormick Foods Australia) commented: 'A fascinating book...so simple in concept yet so powerful in its application to leadership learning and development...this book is a fantastic read'
