Climatological, culvert temperature, ground temperature and hydrologic data were collected at Grenac, Steele and Flume Creeks near Fairbanks, Alaska, to extend understanding of icing phenomena. Field trials were conducted at Bear Creek, Grenac Creek, Steele Creek, Moose Creek and Gakona Spring to test three expedient techniques for controlling icing: electric heating cables, channel improvement and channel covers.
