This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frontiers in Magnetism of Reduced Dimension Systems presents a definitive statement of our current knowledge and the state of the art in a field that has yet to achieve maturity, even though there are a number of potential applications of thin magnetic films and multilayers, such as magnetic sensors, data storage/retrieval media, actuators, etc. The book is organized into 13 chapters, each including a lecture and contributed papers on a similar subject. Five chapters deal with theoretical descriptions of electron transport phenomena, relaxation processes, nonlinear paramagnetic interactions, phase transitions and macroscopic quantum effects in magnetic films and particles. The description of different characterization techniques occupies an important place in the book. Separate chapters are dedicated to magnetic resonances (FMR, SWR, NMR), magneto-optical spectroscopy, controlling chaos, magnetoelastic phenomena and magnetic resonance force microscopy. A further chapter gives a detailed review, spread over a number of papers, of materials in current use in information storage devices.
Book Synopsis Magnetism and Structure in Systems of Reduced Dimension by : Robin F.C. Farrow

This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers presented at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "Magnetism and Structure in Systems of Reduced Dimension", held at l'Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargese - U.M.S. - C.N.R.S. - Universite de Corte Universite de Nice Sophia - Antipolis during June 15-19, 1992. The ordering of papers in the volume reflects the sequence of papers presented at the workshop. The aim was not to segregate the papers into rigidly defmed areas but to group the papers into small clusters, each cluster having a common theme. In this way the parallel, rather than serial, development of areas such as preparation of films, magnetic and structural characterization was highlighted. Indeed the success of the field depends on such parallel development and is assisted by workshops of this nature and the international collaborations which they foster. The organizers and participants of the NATO workshop express their thanks to Mme. Marie-France Hanseier and the staff at l'Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargese U.M.S. - C.N.R.S. - Universite de Corte - Universite de Nice Sophia - Antipolis for making the workshop and local arrangements a memorable success. Warm thanks are also expressed to Varadachari Sadagopan and Pascal Stefanou for their encouragement and help in making the workshop a reality. We are also grateful to Kristl Hathaway, Larry Cooper and Gary Prinz for advice in developing the workshop program.

Book Synopsis Magnetism, Nanosized Magnetic Materials by : Joel S. Miller
Download or read book Magnetism, Nanosized Magnetic Materials written by Joel S. Miller and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2001-12-31 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetic behaviour, once thought to be mature, has gained a new momentum as it is being expanded by contributions from molecular chemistry, materials sciences to solid state physics. The spectrum spans molecule-based - organic, inorganic, and hybrid - compounds, metallic materials as well as their oxides forming, for example, thin films, nanoparticles, nanowires. New phenomena are explored that open promising perspectives for commercially applied "smart" materials. As a depository of contemporary knowledge on key topics related to magnetism, this open series of volumes provides a much-needed comprehensive overview of this growing interdisciplinary field. The topical reviews are written by the foremost scientists in the area, and the trends and recent advances are explained in a clear and detailed manner with a focus on the correlations between electronic structure and magnetic properties. The balance between theory and experiment within this series will guide advanced students and specialists in evaluating experimental observations and will serve as a basis for the design of new magnetic materials. This is a unique reference work, indispensable for everyone concerned with the phenomena of magnetism!

Book Synopsis Magnetization Oscillations and Waves by : A.G. Gurevich
Download or read book Magnetization Oscillations and Waves written by A.G. Gurevich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-17 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by two well-known researchers in the field, this useful reference takes an applied approach to high frequency processes including oscillations and waves in ferromagnets, antiferromagnets, and ferrimagnets. Problems evaluated include ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic resonances, spin waves, nonlinear processes, and high frequency manifestations of interactions between the magnetic system and other systems of magnetically ordered substances as elastic waves and charge carriers. Unlike previous monographs on this subject, which are highly theoretical and written for very advanced readers, this book requires only an average college background in mathematics and experimental physics. It will be a valuable addition to the library of engineers and scientists in research and development for communications applications, and scientists interested in nonlinear magnetic phenomena. It also serves as an excellent introduction to the topic for newcomers in the field. Magnetization Oscillations and Waves not only presents results but also shows readers how to obtain them; most formulas are derived with so many details that readers can reproduce them. The book includes many summaries and tables and detailed references to significant work in the area by European researchers.
