Download or read book The Book of Bok written by Neil Armstrong and published by Wren & Rook. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First man on the Moon Neil Armstrong reveals the adventure of the first Moon landing, and how the Earth and the Moon came to be, in this unique non-fiction picture book. A young boy sits up in bed and gazes at the distant Moon through his window. He wonders if, one day, a human will stand on its surface and look back at the Earth. But Earth is already being studied from the Moon. An all-seeing Moon rock of almost impossible age, called Bok, has been looking down at our blue and green planet for millennia. Geologists - people who study rocks - have a saying: 'Rocks remember'. During his time, Bok has witnessed some truly wondrous things. Created in the Earth-shattering collision 4.5 billion years ago that led to the formation of the Moon, he has seen stars burst into being and meteors streak through the solar system. He has seen his own Moon surface be transformed with craters, and he has watched a fiery, volcanic planet transform into the haven we know today - as mountain ranges rose up, oceans appeared and dinosaurs roamed the Earth. And he found himself rudely awoken one early lunar morning by a strange creature picking him up and throwing him into a box. That is how Bok and Neil Armstrong first met, and this is their (true) story.
Book Synopsis From the Earth to the Moon, and a Trip Around It by : Jules Verne
Download or read book From the Earth to the Moon, and a Trip Around It written by Jules Verne and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-12-24 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jules Verne was an incredible visionary. His two stories regarding the first attempts by man to leave the surface of the Earth, travel across a vast distance and visit our satellite were incredible for the time in which they were written. But, even more so in that Verne predicted that Florida in the United States would be the point of takeoff and that three men would take part in the journey. There are many other surprises in store for the reader, and though Verne was incorrect on a few details it is almost as if he had visited his future and witnessed the events. This is a combination of the two stories detailing the trip and the return to our planet. Eighty illustrations accompany the text. This is a fine translation of Verne's original French writings with only minor interference by several editors over the years to standardize spellings and correct a few obvious typos.

He is the second most translated author in the world (after Agatha Christie). Some of his books have also been made into live-action and animated films and television shows. Verne is often referred to as the "Father of Science Fiction", a title sometimes shared with Hugo Gernsback and H. G. Wells.-wikipedia

This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 1189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Earth to the Moon (French: De la Terre à la Lune, 1865) is a humorous science fantasy novel by Jules Verne and is one of the earliest entries in that genre. It tells the story of the president of a post-American Civil War gun club in Baltimore, his rival, a Philadelphia maker of armor, and a Frenchman, who builds an enormous sky-facing Columbiad space gun and launch themselves in a projectile/spaceship from it to a Moon landing. The story is also notable in that Verne attempted to do some rough calculations as to the requirements for the cannon and, considering the comparative lack of any data on the subject at the time, some of his figures are surprisingly close to reality. However, his scenario turned out to be impractical for safe manned space travel since a much longer muzzle would have been required to reach escape velocity while limiting acceleration to survivable limits for the passengers.Includes a Biography of the Author
