Book excerpt: This book having been years in the making is a remarkable testimony of God's Amazing grace and saving power! A one hundred percent true account of a transition out a backslidden state of a gun-toting life of crime and addiction, to a "fiery love affair" with Jesus and a strong commitment to advancing His Kingdom. From sacrificial giving, mentoring, volunteer work, and evangelizing, I am no longer a prisoner of the state of Alabama, but a "prisoner of The Lord." My only desire for this book is that it reaches those it has been ordained to reach for the Kingdom of God. God has commissioned me to take this message of hope where it is needed most. To a lost and dying world. Jesus has done the impossible in and through me. He's transformed me from a dope dealer to "hope dealer."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A riveting, true crime story chronicling a life of crime, drugs, money, sex and near-death experiences, which ultimately led to an incredible transformation and surrender to Jesus Christ. It's an eye-opening story about the miraculous power of God to transform lives from darkness to light, hatred to love, and His wonder working power to cleanse the vilest soul from sin. This is the story of my life from darkness to light. Herein is expressed my whole life's quest in the world and how I found peace with myself and others. It is my hope that someone will take a chapter out of my book and make their life more impeccable. What I wrote in this book is authentic, so I ask readers to pay close attention to what I've written. I was once a young gangster - heartless and ruthless. I didn't know if I was coming or going and I was void of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. I didn't know Jesus Christ and wasn't interested in knowing Him, because my earthly father, the devil, the great dragon, possessed my mind and body with all manner of unrighteousness and kept telling me that I was not worthy of Jesus' love because I was a sinner destined for hell. One day the Holy Spirit starting working and brought me to Romans 3:23 that proclaimed - "FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD". The Spirit also led me to a scripture in Psalms 51:5 - "BEHOLD, I WAS SHAPED IN INIQUITY AND IN SIN DID MY MOTHER CONCIEVE ME." Being void of understanding and wisdom, I didn't know the creative energy of the Grand Architect and Master Builder of the universe and all mankind. The devil had me trapped and he became the god of my life. He used me to carry out his dirty work in this world, but God changed my life and made me a brand-new man, who now walks in the light of the Creator. I implore each reader, especially the youth in the street, to pay close attention to what I have to say. My prayer is that my experience in the world, a life of crime, my transformation and the choice I made to walk with Christ, will inspire someone to make the right choice and get a chance to make a positive change in their own life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In More God, Less Crime renowned criminologist Byron R. Johnson proves that religion can be a powerful antidote to crime. The book describes how faith communities, congregations, and faith-based organizations are essential in forming partnerships necessary to provide the human and spiritual capital to effectively address crime, offender rehabilitation, and the substantial aftercare problems facing former prisoners. There is scattered research literature on religion and crime but until now, there has never been one publication that systematically and rigorously analyzes what we know from this largely overlooked body of research in a lay-friendly format. The data shows that when compared to current strategies, faith-based approaches to crime prevention bring added value in targeting those factors known to cause crime: poverty, lack of education, and unemployment. In an age of limited fiscal resources, Americans can’t afford a criminal justice system that turns its nose up at volunteer efforts that could not only work better than the abysmal status quo, but also save billions of dollars at the same time. This book provides readers with practical insights and recommendations for a faith-based response that could do just that.

Book excerpt: The story portrays a remarkable change that took place, in the life of David when he was 20 years old, on the night of the 16th January 1970. His brother Michael was left untouched. This story was originally published under the title Converted on LSD but this edition has been specially written for prison inmates. These brothers influenced each other during, the 50’s & 60’s, and resulted in both David and Michael serving time in prison. David was sent to Dover Borstal, and Michael Maidstone Prison, for charges of malicious wounding, and carrying a firearm without a license. The story speaks in detail, of all the significant events in David’s life, from being a child through to the time of his conversion to Christ, and then recounts the consequent difficulties that he experienced, as he tried to follow the way of Christ. This led David to make a confession to the Police about his 24 crimes, and the recovery of much stolen property. The story appeared as news headlines in the Bucks Herald on 11th February, 1971 and led to a remarkable conditional discharge. It was believed, by many of Aylesbury’s criminal world, that Dave had gone mad after taking LSD, or the story was an ingenious plan devise by David to prevent him from being sent to prison again, for crimes against society. This was not the case as the story will tell.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the most infamous criminal proceeding in history--the trial of Jesus of Nazareth--have to tell us about capital punishment in the United States? Jesus Christ was a prisoner on death row. If that statement surprises you, consider this fact: of all the roles that Jesus played--preacher, teacher, healer, mentor, friend--none features as prominently in the gospels as this one, a criminal indicted and convicted of a capital offense. Now consider another fact: the arrest, trial, and execution of Jesus bear remarkable similarities to the American criminal justice system, especially in capital cases. From the use of paid informants to the conflicting testimony of witnesses to the denial of clemency, the elements in the story of Jesus' trial mirror the most common components in capital cases today. Finally, consider a question: How might we see capital punishment in this country differently if we realized that the system used to condemn the Son of God to death so closely resembles the system we use in capital cases today? Should the experience of Jesus' trial, conviction, and execution give us pause as we take similar steps to place individuals on death row today? These are the questions posed by this surprising, challenging, and enlightening book

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As soon as the door shut hard behind us, I felt different inside. No longer an 18-year-old kid with twenty scholarship offers to play football, no longer a son, a boyfriend. No longer anything but what I'd be known as from here on out, which was number 98463. This was the first of four prison sentences that I would serve. Jail had taught me nothing other than how to commit more crimes. All the years I've spent in prison were with the mindset that anyone who sought God was weak. I had reverence for religion, but not the people. I was a persecutor of Christians, Catholics, Muslims; of all who spoke of God, yet I called myself a spiritualist. I knew there was something out there, but whatever it was, it had no use for me and I had none for it. I blamed God for my life of misery and pain. I always thought of the line from Milton's Paradise Lost as my motto, "I'd rather rule in hell than serve in heaven." And that's what I did. Until one day, when I died.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently a growing number of Christians have actively promoted the concept of "restorative justice" and attempted to develop programs for dealing with crime based on restorative principles. But is this approach truly consistent with the teaching of Scripture? To date, very little has been done to test this claim. Beyond Retribution fills a gap by plumbing the New Testament on the topics of crime, justice, and punishment. Christopher Marshall first explores the problems involved in applying ethical teachings from the New Testament to mainstream society. He then surveys the extent to which the New Testament addresses criminal justice issues, looking in particular at the concept of the justice of God in the teachings of Paul and Jesus. He also examines the topic of punishment, reviewing the debate in social thinking over the ethics and purpose of punishment -- including capital punishment -- and he advocates a new concept of "restorative punishment." The result of this engaging work is a biblically based challenge to imitate the way of Christ in dealing with both victims and offenders. - Publisher

Book excerpt: There are four ways to die, and only one of them requires an intruder. Suicides, accidental, and natural deaths can occur without any evidence from outside the room. But murders typically involve suspects external to the crime scene. If there’s evidence of an outside intruder, homicide detectives have to prepare for a chase. Intruders turn death scenes into crime scenes. Join J. Warner Wallace, former atheist, seasoned cold-case detective, and popular national speaker as he tackles his most important case ... with you on the jury! With the expertise of a cold-case detective, J. Warner examines eight critical pieces of evidence in the “crime scene” of the universe to determine if they point to a Divine Intruder. If you have ever wondered if something (or someone) outside the natural realm created the universe and everything in it, this is the case for you.
