Book excerpt: The choices put before us this year by the two major parties make George Bush look like George Washington by comparison ndash; especially with regard to the Constitution. It is because of my strong belief in the Constitution that I am urging Americans this year not to vote for either major-party candidate ndash; because neither Barack Obama nor John McCain understand, appreciate and revere the charter that serves as the very basis for our unique form of government. It's time for a real protest against a broken and corrupt American political system. It's not a time for choosing the lesser of two evils. That won't fix our country's leadership crisis. It's time for resistance. It's time for rebellion. It's time for radicalism. It's time to start saying no to the bad choices we are being handed by the system. It's time to change from compliance to government to a spirit of obedience to higher to God and the Constitution that limits the authority of government. And it's time to translate this into the political arena.

Book excerpt: America has a problem. Conservatives aren't helping their kids mature past that arrested development phase also known as liberalism! In this groundbreaking book, noted speaker Reb Bradley proves that societal pressures and foolish child-raising theories that have gone mainstream are preventing parents from developing in their kids the key ingredients of maturity, including self-control. Too many children are becoming adults who are ruled purely by magical thinking, passions, emotions and desires -- the hallmarks of the liberal mindset. It's up to parents to turn their baby Bolsheviks into good citizens by helping their kids mature past their infantile liberal stage. Reb Bradley shows how.

Book excerpt: You may come to the same conclusion another reader came to when I was in the early process of simply sending my stories out to gauge the interest of a potential book. She said, "You have led a charmed life." My first reaction was, "Are you nuts?" The fact is, although I grew up differently than almost all of you, I haven't had a charmed life, believe me. That sounds like in some way I have been "lucky" that I haven't experienced hardships, pain, or defeat. Nothing could be further from the truth. But I will tell you what is true, I have had a blessed life. Through it all, the Lord has kept me above my trials and tribulations, even when I didn't believe He was there. Through disappointment, death, disease, He was there. I truly believe that we all have choices to make in life. You can allow disappointments and discouragement in life to make you bitter, or you can use them to make you better. That's why I titled this book Sunny Side Up. It's how you view your circumstances and how you use them that make us who we are. To me, it's always been that simple, and before you ask, no, I am not a Southern version of Tony Robbins. I am just telling you the way I see it. So with that being said, I hope you will find some of these short stories humorous. I hope a few of them will give you pause to appreciate your blessings and one or two that will tug at your heartstrings to encourage you to be a better friend and neighbor. I know that some of these stories, if not all, will seem far-fetched or unbelievable to many of you, but like I said, I grew up differently than most of you, and my experiences in this life, to say it bluntly, are unbelievable in themselves. But this book really isn't about me at all; I am just a storyteller. I love telling stories about characters with character, and there are plenty of both in the stories before you. And before I forget, on behalf of my German shepherd Sadie and my black Lab Doc and myself, thank you for buying this book. We greatly appreciate it.

Many people have one foot in both worlds. If you are in limbo, awake... or want to be, this book was made to serve YOU. ***** What you have before you is a masterpiece spawn to pioneer the New Renaissance on “New Earth” in this era of the 21st century Golden Age. Despite a wee bit of irreverent sass, this book is meant to be earnestly undertaken. Bold predictions are made, for the future of our civilization. ***** The mass devastation we currently see taking place on the world stage: war, division, conflict, corruption; crime, injustice, poverty, illness, disease; pollution, wildfires, twisters, death, destruction & disaster... is all just the PURGING of a long lineage of UN-grace, if you will. This is the stage in human evolution where everything is coming to a head on purpose, to be cleared or burned into the fire of transmutation, so PEACE can be possible. Man's turning point, is GOD'S TURN. ***** Note: This book is the final installment of "Thee Trilogy of the Ages" series, which is more like a collection, so the books can be read in any order. ***** ”Wel--come--to--your---life, there’s no turning back.” ***** BookonFire Press~In Love We Trust Self-empowerment/Soul Mastery/Higher Learning/Social Justice/Transformation/Ahimsa/America

Book excerpt: The Essence® bestselling author delivers a wildly entertaining tale of colliding hearts, romantic adventures, and hard truths about the bumpy road to love. Twenty-four-year-old single mom Shonda Robinson may not be the wisest woman around—and she’s definitely not the most discreet—but she knows a good thing when she’s got it. That good thing is her love for Malik Moore, and she intends to keep it—at all costs. But she’s not alone. In addition to having a good job, and knowing just how to show Shonda a good time, Malik also has a pregnant fiancée. He may be in love with his baby-on-the-way, but Shonda is sure he doesn’t feel the same about his bride-to-be. And with a wedding in the works, Shonda is seriously considering causing some trouble of her own. Pregnant with her second child, Kimberly Vanessa Brown has got a career, a college degree—and enough common sense to know that her boyfriend of three years, Malik, isn’t ready for fatherhood. Until he surprises her with a marriage proposal—in a jewelry store, no less. Now it seems that Kim has got her man too. At least for the moment. Despite his honorable intentions, Malik can’t seem to stay clear of Shonda, the shapely new receptionist at his office. Once his resolve finally crumbles, so does his heart—and maybe his future. What follows is an emotional roller coaster ride of changing plans, changing partners—and a surprising change of heart—as three people wrestle with what’s right, what’s wrong . . . and what’s real. “Three very interesting characters whose fate ends with a twist.” —Booklist

Book excerpt: A dark relationship evolves between a high schooler and her English teacher in this breathtakingly powerful memoir about a young woman who must learn to rewrite her own story. “Have you ever read Lolita?” So begins seventeen-year-old Alisson’s metamorphosis from student to lover and then victim. A lonely and vulnerable high school senior, Alisson finds solace only in her writing—and in a young, charismatic English teacher, Mr. North. Mr. North gives Alisson a copy of Lolita to read, telling her it is a beautiful story about love. The book soon becomes the backdrop to a connection that blooms from a simple crush into a forbidden romance. But as Mr. North’s hold on her tightens, Alisson is forced to evaluate how much of their narrative is actually a disturbing fiction. In the wake of what becomes a deeply abusive relationship, Alisson is faced again and again with the story of her past, from rereading Lolita in college to working with teenage girls to becoming a professor of creative writing. It is only with that distance and perspective that she understands the ultimate power language has had on her—and how to harness that power to tell her own true story. Being Lolita is a stunning coming-of-age memoir that shines a bright light on our shifting perceptions of consent, vulnerability, and power. This is the story of what happens when a young woman realizes her entire narrative must be rewritten—and then takes back the pen to rewrite it.
