Book Synopsis Re-Engineering Software by : Roy Rada
Download or read book Re-Engineering Software written by Roy Rada and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-01-26 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creating software of any kind is an enormously expensive proposition, whether for internal use or commercial application. The range of activities involved in engineering and creating software are mind-boggling in complexity. Yet, every time new software is developed, most programmers start from scratch without considering what might be re-used or salvaged from existing programs. Re-Engineering Software addresses the principles, approaches, support systems, underlying methodologies, and real case examples for re-using (and thus building on) previously existing software.
Book Synopsis All Source Positioning, Navigation and Timing by : Rongsheng (Ken) Li
Download or read book All Source Positioning, Navigation and Timing written by Rongsheng (Ken) Li and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book on the topic of all source positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) and how to solve the problem of PNT when the most widely-used measurement source available today, the GPS system, may be come unavailable, jammed or spoofed. Readers learn how to define the system architecture as well as the algorithms for GPS-denied and GPS-challenged PNT systems. In addition, the book provides comprehensive coverage of the individual technologies used, such as celestial navigation, vision-based navigation, terrain referenced navigation, gravity anomaly referenced navigation, signal of opportunity (SOO) based PNT, and collaborative PNT. Celestial Navigation is discussed, with stars and satellite used as reference, and star-tracker technology also included. Propagation based timing solutions are explored and the basic principles of oscillators and clocks presented. Initial alignment of strap-down navigation systems is explored, including initial alignment as a Kalman filter problem. Velocimeter/Dead reckoning based navigation and its impact on visual odometry is also explained. Covering both theoretical and practical issues, and packed with equations and models, this book is useful for both the engineering student as well as the advanced practitioner.

Book Synopsis Software Reuse: Methods, Techniques, and Tools by : Cristina Gacek
Download or read book Software Reuse: Methods, Techniques, and Tools written by Cristina Gacek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-01 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a result of the open-source movement there is now a great deal of reusable software available in the public domain. This offers significant functionality that commercial software vendors can use in their software projects. Open-source approaches to software development have illustrated that complex, mission critical software can be developed by distributed teams of developers sharing a common goal. Commercial software vendors have an opportunity to both learn from the op- source community as well as leverage that knowledge for the benefit of its commercial clients. Nonetheless, the open-source movement is a diverse collection of ideas, knowledge, techniques, and solutions. As a result, it is far from clear how these approaches should be applied to commercial software engineering. This paper has looked at many of the dimensions of the open-source movement, and provided an analysis of the different opportunities available to commercial software vendors. References and Notes 1. It can be argued that the open-source community has produced really only two essential 9 products -- Apache (undeniably the most popular web server) and Linux although both are essentially reincarnations of prior systems. Both are also somewhat products of their times: Apache filled a hole in the then emerging Web, at a time no platform vendor really knew how to step in, and Linux filled a hole in the fragmented Unix market, colored by the community s general anger against Microsoft. 2.Evans Marketing Services, Linux Developers Survey, Volume 1, March 2000.

Download or read book Software Reuse written by Carma McClure and published by Wiley-IEEE Computer Society Press. This book was released on 2001-07-11 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reuse is one of the simplest and oldest concepts in programming - and one that is often underutilized. When implemented purposefully and correctly, reuse can save time and money as well as create an inventory of valuable and reusable software assets. Dr. Carma McClure, one of the principal writers of the IEEE's Software Reuse Standard 1517, provides clear, concise, and applied information to make effective software reuse a reality. This book provides specific instructions for implementing reuse within the context of the IEEE/EIA Standard 12207 - Standard for Information Technology ? Software Life Cycle Processes. This new guide aids the reader in interpreting the meaning of the standard, implementing the standard, and applying the standard. Like IEEE Std. 1517, this book is written for both managers and technical personnel involved in acquiring, supplying, or developing software applications and systems or reusable assets.
