I stand with tears on my face, he with tears in his eyes. I can feel his hand softly brush away my tears. I see his encouraging smile, urging me to smile too. We continue to walk to the corner where he’ll leave me to walk on alone to the bus station and the bus which will take him out of my life. He reassures me that soon, we’ll be together again. It wasn’t supposed to end like that. Some people get a second chance at happiness.

Illustrated with facsimile reproductions of Cash's own handwritten pages, Forever Words is a remarkable addition to the canon of one of America's heroes. His music is a part of our collective history, and here he demonstrates the depth of his talent as a writer. Book excerpt: Johnny and Me is a true story about my childhood experiences growing up in the northwest side of Chicago with John Wayne Gacy. This story details the everyday life experiences in my and Johnnys homes. Details of our families are in the book along with the understanding of each of our parents as they raised us in the 1940s and 1950s. Many of these stories included are of my personal life before Johnny came on the scene in order to let the reader understand my point of view as my life unfolded. I have tried to show you the Johnny that I remember as a childhood friend and I hope that I have been as accurate as I can be on this subject. Various moments of joy, anger, and fear are shared between the two of us as we tried to have a normal childhood in the midst of anxiety and confusion that was brought on by our fathers abuse of alcohol and demanding personalities. The story portrays how our environments molded our characters and helped us to make choices in our adult lives. Details regarding our reactions to everyday events supply hints of how Johnny and I would function in our separate social worlds as we matured. Johnnys possessive nature is described as we went playing normal childhood games and making new friends. His religious experiences are mentioned and a complete description of his controlling personality is shared as one of Johnnys ways to cope with his surroundings. Other details of Johnnys life are revealed such as his early desire to be in the spotlight of social applause. The book concludes with my personal emotions about a friend whose life went the wrong way. His childhood, along with my own, could have been different.

What else could possibly go wrong? The people of Stony Ford have everything to lose, which is why they band together to save their sleepy town from folding up shop. With the lack of jobs and lack of money, it is time to be neighborly. With the remnant of death and lost youth floating over the rolling hills, its time to share compassion and hope. But is it possible to bring spirit back to Stony Ford, when everything seems so lost? Its been said that the Promised Land lies on the other side of a wilderness. Stony Ford has wandered in the wilderness long enough. The townspeople now seek their Promised Land in order to bring life back to the town they love. Book excerpt: Forever at the Finish Line tells the remarkable and inspiring story of Daniel Mitrovich, a runner from San Diego, who had a goal of putting a life-size statue of New York Marathon founder Fred Lebow in Central Park. New York’s Parks Commissioner Henry Stern said “It will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than to put a statue in Central Park.” It would not be easy for someone that lacked financial backing and who wasn’t even a New Yorker to make this happen. But with the faith and blessing of Fred Lebow, the support of his family, and his own personal determination, he knew it would happen. His journey involved crossing the continent many times, securing the support of some of the most famous runners of our time, including Joan Benoit Samuelson, Grete Waitz, Alberto Salazar, Bill Rodgers, and Carl Lewis. He would ultimately gain the endorsements of some of the most powerful political people of our time: Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush and William Jefferson Clinton, Governor Andrew Cuomo, US Senators Alan K. Simpson and Al D’Amato, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and thirteen members of Congress. Daniel Mitrovich’s personal story will show you if you pursue a dream with the right intent you will be “Forever at the Finish Line.”

Book excerpt: Is there really such a thing as 'hearing your calling?' It has been said that we all have one. If so, will we know when our calling has arrived, even more importantly, will we know how to deal with it. There is also a saying that you are a product of your environment. If that is the case, does that mean if you are raised in an environment that is associated with a lot of violence such as gangs, shooting and killings that will be your destiny also, some say that is the case. In this story, Jaw-long and Frank, (both products of their environment), had been involved in the gangs, shootings and killings, will crush that saying, and will prove all the nay-sayers wrong. And along with their family and friends they will hear their calling, and they will succeed in fulfilling it. And any person or persons, that try to interfere or derail what they are trying to do, or messes with their family, will regret it. Jaw-long escapes the Chinese Mafia. Jaw-long, a master ninja assassin, and his best friend Tao are sitting in a warehouse discussing getting out of the Chinese Mafia. The problem is, the only way out is death for you and your family. Unbeknownst to them, Yingpei Fong, who resented Jaw-long, and is the son of the leader of the Chinese Mafia, was hiding in the shadows listening. After they discovered his presence, he tried to run to inform his father, and Jaw-long caught up to him. A fight ensued, Yingpei was killed and panic takes over Jaw-long and Tao. Jaw-long concluded that now is a better time than ever to escape the Chinese Mafia, so he disappears. Jaw-long meets with Frank in America, and an unbreakable bond is formed. Jaw-long, his wife and son, now lives with Frank, his wife and their three kids. They consider themselves family not friends and they have a very strong spiritual bond. The fact that they are different races is not a factor at all. Along with their friends, they now own the largest martial arts school in the area, as well as, a very successful clothing store. The Chinese Mafia catches up to Jaw-long more than twenty years later and wants him dead. But they would have to go through his family in America to get to him. Then Chinese Mafia discovers Jaw-long is alive and well and come for him in America. While Jaw-long and Frank are away, the Chinese Mafia attacks their martial arts school, killing a family member and seriously injuring three others. Frank's wife is poisoned while Jaw-long's wife is kidnapped and taken back to China. The Chinese Mafia has made a huge mistake, as they will soon find out; you don't mess with their family.

Book excerpt: Having been effectively silenced by her illness for many years, Janes ability to communicate was restored in 2011, through technological advances that enabled her to speak via a computer, using very slight movements of her chin. The assistive technology Jane received changed her life dramatically and gave her real hope for the final five years of her life. Being able to communicate again in writing, after so many years, meant everything to Jane. In the midst of losing her voice, her hearing, and the use of her arms and hands, Jane decided to write a memoir: her story, in her own words. Forever Yours had been the inscription Jane and her husband Alan had chosen for their engagement rings back in 1977. Janes book was to be a love story but with a twist. Together, and in faith, Jane and Alan were to learn that the deepest joy can come from the darkest of places, including in times of trial and pain.

Book excerpt: First Place 4 Health has helped tens of thousands of people lose weight and bring balance to the four core areas of their lives: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In this new title from Carole Lewis, First Place 4 Health’s national director, readers are challenged to “give God a year” to change them from the inside out. Change will happen over the course of 12 months, but the right changes only happen when we set the right goals and take the right steps to achieve them. Written with Carole’s signature warmth and humor, the book invites readers to dream big about the changes they long for in their lives and then offers practical, biblical, step by step guidance for how to see those dreams made into reality. In a culture of “right now,” a year may seem like an eternity. A year in the hands of God, however, means change that will last eternally.

Book excerpt: When Johnny Cash died in September 2003, the world mourned the loss of the greatest country music star of all time. I Walked the Line is the life story of Vivian Cash, Johnny's first wife and the mother of his four daughters. It is a tale of long-kept secrets, lies revealed, betrayal and, at last, the truth. Johnny and Vivian were married for nearly fourteen years. These years spanned Johnny's military service in Germany, his earliest musical inclinations, their struggling newlywed years, Johnny's first record deal with Sun Records (alongside Elvis Presley), his astounding rise to stardom, and his well-known battles with pills and the law. Vivian decided that, near the end of her life and with backing from Johnny, she should tell the whole story, even the parts at odds with the iconic Cash family image such as Johnny's drug problems; Vivian's confrontation with June Carter about her affair with Johnny and, most sensationally, the Cash family secret of June's lifelong addiction to drugs and the events leading up to her death. Also revealed are unpublished love letters between the couple, family photographs and artefacts. I Walked the Line is a powerful memoir of joy and happiness, injustice and triumph and is an essential read for all Cash fans.

Abby seems to be the only one committed to finding the truth and decides to stop listening to everyone before she ends up at the morgue. And since Kimberly harbors a deep-seated dislike of gold-diggers and the whole distasteful state of affairs, the feisty young heiress already despises the worthy suitor she encounters at Sherring Cross Estate: Lachlan MacGregor, the dashing, newly impoverished Laird of Clan MacGregor. A tryst with the handsome, haughty Lachlan seems dubious, especially since the rogue has designs on the married Duchess of Wrothston. But strange turns and outrageous circumstances promise to lead a woefully mismatched pair to a wildly unexpected destination—where a hard, resisting heart can open to the true glories of love.
