Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Vietnam to the Southern Strategy, from the opening of China to the scandal of Watergate, Pat Buchanan—speechwriter and senior adviser to President Nixon—tells the untold story of Nixon’s embattled White House, from its historic wins to it devastating defeats. In his inaugural address, Nixon held out a hand in friendship to Republicans and Democrats alike. But by the fall of 1969, massive demonstrations in Washington and around the country had been mounted to break his presidency. In a brilliant appeal to what he called the “Great Silent Majority,” Nixon sent his enemies reeling. Vice President Agnew followed by attacking the blatant bias of the media in a fiery speech authored and advocated by Buchanan. And by 1970, Nixon’s approval rating soared to 68 percent, and he was labeled “The Most Admired Man in America”. Them one by one, the crises came, from the invasion of Cambodia, to the protests that killed four students at Kent State, to race riots and court ordered school busing. Buchanan chronicles Nixon’s historic trip to China, and describes the White House strategy that brought about Nixon’s 49-state landslide victory over George McGovern in 1972. When the Watergate scandal broke, Buchanan urged the president to destroy the Nixon tapes before they were subpoenaed, and fire Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox, as Nixon ultimately did in the “Saturday Night Massacre.” After testifying before the Watergate Committee himself, Buchanan describes the grim scene at Camp David in August 1974, when Nixon’s staff concluded he could not survive In a riveting memoir from behind the scenes of the most controversial presidency of the last century, Nixon’s White House Wars reveals both the failings and achievements of the 37th President, recorded by one of those closest to Nixon from before his political comeback, through to his final days in office.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last thirty years, many people who have heard my life’s testimony suggested that I write this book. The book starts off with my verbally and emotional abusive relationship with my father that eventually caused me to accept atheism and to run away from home at the age of fourteen. I went to Hell’s Kitchen in New York City and joined a local gang, the Park Rats. The middle section shows my association with The Genovese Mafia due to work provided in the trucking industry as a driver, which eventually led to my managing two trucking companies. Management also included dealing with the many problems with the Teamsters Union over the years, and there are stories about my criminal activities throughout that time, including, but not limited to, my close relationship with the Genovese Mafia underboss. The third and last section explains how God provided a miracle for me while in the process of the reconstruction of a church in San Diego, CA. That miracle sent me on a search for God. I explain how God changed my life and used me to draw others to Him.

Book excerpt: THE GREATEST OF ALL IMPOSTORS... ...Once the purpose of using love to realize an objective has been satisfied, it is no longer of use. Exposed are a conniving ingenuity and an extraordinary capacity to deceive... ...Helen, of course, was much too experienced to allow anyone to walk all over her. Cathy at one time told Helen, "Your ninety years old Helen, you need to straighten up..." ...Further, while stealing from Helen he allowed her to be verbally abused and physically assaulted by his partner. He saw nothing wrong that his own sister, a ninety one year old widow, was being assaulted by a person one hundred fifty pounds heavier and twenty three years younger... ... We have seventy years, and if we are strong we get eighty. Just how strong and blessed is Helen to reach ninety two. Her remaining years may be spent peacefully or in pain and sorrow. Only God knows how many more years she has and how they will be spent. We hope she, at least, reaches one hundred if not more... ----from Shame and Virtue

Book excerpt: Byron Smith moved back to his family home in Little Falls, Minnesota, to care for his elderly mother and enjoy a quiet retirement from the US State Department. On Thanksgiving Day 2012, Byron shot and killed two teens who broke into his home by breaking a bedroom window. It was the sixth burglary in less than six months. Previous burglaries included over fifty thousand dollars in gold, cash, jewelry, and his Vietnam medals. He feared for his life as each burglary became more violent, and the fear that he would be killed by his own guns intensified. With his training in security, he installed cameras and recorders and locked and dead bolted every door and window to his home to prevent entry. Prescription drug bottles were found in the teen’s car from another home they had broken into the night before. Byron was convicted of first-degree murder in April of 2014 after an unusual trial and sentenced to life in prison. Before the trial, he lived with his neighbors, John and Kathy Lange and their fifteen-year-old-son, Dilan. This story is an intimate insight into this family’s friendship and support of Byron while this incident became national news. A Dateline episode, “12 Minutes on Elm Street,” aired in May of 2014, only depicted a small portion of the real story. This book reveals facts that were not allowed in the trial and how the ripple effect of our nation’s drug epidemic caused a US veteran to be imprisoned by his own fear.
