Book Synopsis Algorithm-Driven Truss Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing by : Christian Reintjes
Download or read book Algorithm-Driven Truss Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing written by Christian Reintjes and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-01 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques allow the manufacture of complex-shaped structures the combination of lightweight construction, topology optimization, and AM is of significant interest. Besides the established continuum topology optimization methods, less attention is paid to algorithm-driven optimization based on linear optimization, which can also be used for topology optimization of truss-like structures. To overcome this shortcoming, we combined linear optimization, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), numerical shape optimization, and numerical simulation into an algorithm-driven product design process for additively manufactured truss-like structures. With our Ansys SpaceClaim add-in construcTOR, which is capable of obtaining ready-for-machine-interpretation CAD data of truss-like structures out of raw mathematical optimization data, the high performance of (heuristic-based) optimization algorithms implemented in linear programming software is now available to the CAD community.

Book Synopsis Computational Structural Analysis and Finite Element Methods by : A. Kaveh
Download or read book Computational Structural Analysis and Finite Element Methods written by A. Kaveh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graph theory gained initial prominence in science and engineering through its strong links with matrix algebra and computer science. Moreover, the structure of the mathematics is well suited to that of engineering problems in analysis and design. The methods of analysis in this book employ matrix algebra, graph theory and meta-heuristic algorithms, which are ideally suited for modern computational mechanics. Efficient methods are presented that lead to highly sparse and banded structural matrices. The main features of the book include: application of graph theory for efficient analysis; extension of the force method to finite element analysis; application of meta-heuristic algorithms to ordering and decomposition (sparse matrix technology); efficient use of symmetry and regularity in the force method; and simultaneous analysis and design of structures.

Book Synopsis AI-Based Optimized Design of Structural Frames by : Won‐Kee Hong
Download or read book AI-Based Optimized Design of Structural Frames written by Won‐Kee Hong and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-10-16 with total page 607 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces an auto‐design‐based optimization for building frames using an artificial neural network (ANN)‐based Lagrange method and novel genetic algorithm (GA). The work of great mathematician Joseph‐Louis Lagrange and ANNs are merged to identify parameters that optimize structural frames of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames subject to one or more design constraints. New features for enhancing conventional GA are also demonstrated to optimize structural frames. New features for optimizing multiple design targets of the building frames are highlighted, while design requirements imposed by codes are automatically satisfied. Chapters provide readers with an understanding of how both ANN‐based and novel GA‐based structural optimization can be implemented in holistically optimizing designated design targets for building structural frames, guiding readers toward more rational designs that is consistent with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. ANN‐based holistic designs of multi‐story frames in general and reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames in particular, are introduced. This book suits structural engineers, architects, and graduate students in the field of building frame designs and is heavily illustrated with color figures and tables.
Book Synopsis Data Governance for Managers by : Lars Michael Bollweg
Download or read book Data Governance for Managers written by Lars Michael Bollweg and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-13 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professional data management is the foundation for the successful digital transformation of traditional companies. Unfortunately, many companies fail to implement data governance because they do not fully understand the complexity of the challenge (organizational structure, employee empowerment, change management, etc.) and therefore do not include all aspects in the planning and implementation of their data governance. This book explains the driving role that a responsive data organization can play in a company's digital transformation. Using proven process models, the book takes readers from the basics, through planning and implementation, to regular operations and measuring the success of data governance. All the important decision points are highlighted, and the advantages and disadvantages are discussed in order to identify digitization potential, implement it in the company, and develop customized data governance. The book will serve as a useful guide for interested newcomers as well as for experienced managers.
