Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For this very special little girl Where do we go when we die? We go to heaven, to become an angel and live in God's glorious gardens. It's a magical spellbinding place, where all our loved ones have gone before us. In this story/activity book you can also place your loved ones in your chosen garden. I wrote this book as a treasured gift for my granddaughter, Scarlett Rose, after flying from the UK to Australia to help bring her into the world. The heartache I felt on fl ying back home inspired me to put pen to paper and my book began. But it hasn't been easy. By choice, I had a poor education. At school I was always a huge personality in the playground, but a daydreamer in the classroom. Then it was university - haha! I went to the university of life, where my mother was my number one teacher. Since the beginning, my family has grown and so has my book. It's been a pleasurable challenge to write. Some days I've cried with a great big belly laugh and others I've cried with the depth of emotional love I felt deeply from my soul for my family, friends and acquaintances who have inspired the characters in the book. I was soon to hit a huge obstacle with this book: learning to illustrate! But I got there. The most important lesson I have learnt is to believe in yourself, have faith, what's meant for you in this life doesn't pass you by. It's a big world out there, full of wonderful opportunities that are all within reach. So if you're missing a loved one like myself, don't let your grievance grow, live your life and be happy with a positive thought: no one is promised a tomorrow, but they say God offers a promises to us all of eternal angelic life in heaven. Read on! Guardian angels In every adult there's a child, In every child there's imagination, In imagination there is love, positivity, In mine, I found a magical wonder world -- real or nostalgic? For me, I believe it's true.

From childhood through adolescence and into adulthood we all find ourselves wearing different hats. This is a fascinating story of the different hats worn by a young girl who had a very demanding, and at times, difficult life. She shares her experiences up to the present day and encourages the reader to reflect on the question, "Have you found your perfect hat, or are you still searching for it?"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mr. Hatfield with all of his years of experience in marriage, parenting, family, missions and in the Church pulls no punches in calling Christ's Bride to return to His Truth (God's revealed Law-Word) regarding discipleship (men and women of faith and grace) in Manhood and Womanhood, outrageously successful spousal relations, parenting with training in romance, sexual satisfaction, love and marriage! He is calling all believers, especially men, to confession and repentance and to receive, understand and apply these Truths in the Power of the Holy Spirit as the only acceptable response in which God will revive and reform the Family and the Church in the 21st Century! Not for the weak-kneed, weak-minded or humanistically influenced, this is for Christ's Bride as we prepare for and anticipate His return! These applications of God's revealed Law-Word and His uncommon common sense in the lives of America's postmodern Christian culture and especially the promise of duplicating of these successes for love and marriage in our children, is exciting and challenging to the point of precedent setting magnitudes. The reader will experience riveting and exciting challenges to the status quo of our present day Christian culture. "Based on interviews with more than 1000 adults nationwide, the survey discovered that less than one out of every five adults believes that children under the age of 13 are being "superbly" or "pretty well" prepared for life emotionally, physically, spiritually, intellectually or physically. Fewer than one out of every twenty adults believes that America's youngsters are receiving above average preparation in all five of those areas of life." Americans Agree: "Kids Are Not Being Prepared for Life," The Barna Group-October 26, 2004 The couples, who discover the answers to the moral morass of our postmodern Christian culture, are those who know that the future of their children is in jeopardy and that we are in a war for the control of that future! Sadly, the statistics of broken homes, divorces, adultery, domestic violence, drugs and promiscuity - to mention only some of the ills of our culture - are almost equally divided between "Christian" families and non-Christian families. This is unacceptable as a comparison and must change. Consequently, fathers and mothers of faith and grace are those - who are and or who will experience - God's promise of victory over these fruits of our fallen nature and live a marriage experience that captures the best of God's gifts of love, sex and romance in marriage. Daddy's Little Girl and Mommy's Little Boy brings us clear evidence of just how America's Christian couples can have this victory in their marriage and how to duplicate this success in their sons and daughters.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cuba: Another Side of the Story is a memoir of how life changed for many children growing up in a country slowly dying under constant political conflict. The story is told in three parts: Part I “Before Castro,” Part II “Life under Castro,” Part III “Life in Exile.” This book creates a vivid sense of time and place through childhood memories of pre- and post-Castro Cuba, from 1945 to 1967. The forty two stories, told through the voice of a child, highlight moments of injustice in the eyes of a young girl who does not understand why the world around her is so strange. Her nanny, a poor black woman, shaped her soul and showed her the other side of the story, the story of the poor who are voiceless in a world where only those who can afford to pay for elite private schools can get ahead in life. This nanny becomes the spiritual guide who enables a very sensitive young child to navigate in a confusing world. Every one of the 42 stories focuses on a moment where the child relives memories of what she witnessed growing up. The first story is dedicated to Nana, the person whose memory guides her to write her life story. The title of the stories clearly describe how Nana influenced the author and helped her see the other side of the story. “El Barrio” describes a neighborhood where the rich, middle class and the poor lived in close proximity, a reflection of what Cuban society was in the 1950’s-“Everyone lived under the same sun, moon and stars but our worlds were very different.” The chapter about “Sunday Mass” describes the well-dressed parishioners who every Sunday walked through the park next to the Church and ignored the beggars who held their arms out, palms up, hoping to get a nickel or dime. “I don’t think the beggars got any of the money the priests collected every Sunday because they came back every Sunday. I never understood why God didn’t take care of everybody the same way.” Religious conflict plus the rich versus poor struggles are present throughout the book. Castro started his revolution claiming he wanted to help the poor. In the end, everyone, including the poor, were deceived by a charismatic man who understood what the poor wanted to hear, a promise of equality for all. His communist doctrine doomed the possibility of ever achieving equality for all. During Sunday Mass the priests would often remind poor parishioners how much God loved the needy by quoting verses like, “Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the Kingdom of God,” or “For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” Religion and poverty seem to be two themes that prevail throughout this book, expressed clearly by the voice of the author who puts into words her thoughts by writing, “I never understood why God didn’t take care of everybody the same way.” The stories “The Day the Old Cuba Died“ and “The Bay of Pigs Invasion” describe the days leading to the failed attempt by Cuban exiles to get rid of the Castro regime. All hope and dreams died. The only dream left was to find a way to leave the island. The chapter “Adios Cuba” is a vivid memory of what it means to become a political exile. “Exile is more than a change of address, it is a spiritual displacement.” This book is not a research study about Cuban maids, family, religion or politics; it is a story about a young child and the life of her nanny and maids who allowed her to enter their world, a world that many don’t dare to acknowledge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of World War II, the young girl had no idea she was the answer to a dying old man's prayer when along came a soldier into her life. Whether it was the power of the unknown prayer or the persistence of the soldier, that chance meeting changed her life into a roller coaster ride that was filled with fun and zany antics. Along Came a Soldier is a page turner in the style of June Harman Betts' first two books, Father Was A Caveman and We Were Vagabonds. It recreates the life of an American family immediately following World War II into the turbulent years of the Vietnam War. COMMENTS FROM ACTUAL READERS: I enjoyed June Harman Betts' articles in our local paper for years. Needless to say, I was thrilled to hear that she had written a book. AND WHAT A READ! ...As she did so well in her newspaper articles, she takes us to a place of memories, romance, heart-filled times of joy and sorrow-all while sharing the still unwinding story of our greatest generation. Dianne Cline, Denison University ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As June Harman Betts pens the true story of the family's history, one becomes riveted by the highlights and heartbreaks of this intriguing family. The reader is drawn into the family's history with her ability to bring back memories of the reader's own bygone days through her vivid description of the various areas of the country where the family lived. One looks forward to her third book as she continues to weave her story with the young girl's marriage to a young soldier and their life together. James Ritchey, Newark, Ohio ...Father Was A Caveman was so great, especially when it described days of long ago. I enjoyed it so much and also the sequel, We Were Vagabonds. June Harman Betts is a wonderful author. I could not put the book down. Even though I read it from the library in Petersburg, West Virginia, I had to order my own copy for future generations. All we have to do is tap an icon on our smartphones or tablets or click a button on the Internet and we have instant access to social networks, news, weather, music, games, TV, and movies. E-mail and push notifications keep us constantly informed and track our friends’ every status update. We don’t miss a thing. Or do we? Have we become so connected that we’re disconnected from what’s actually important? Is it really so hard to communicate with an unseen God when we text, tweet, and e-mail people we cannot see? Could it be that we’re not hungry for Him—we’re simply too full from gorging ourselves at a media smorgasbord? Heather Marie Thompson challenges us to take a few moments every day for the next 30 days to think about what truly matters in life. Jesus needs us to connect with Him so that He can save us, but there’s no app for that.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally released in 2019, this 2023, revised 2nd edition replaces the original book with improved grammar, formatting, and story-telling. The original was my first book as an author; however, since releasing 'A Father's Daughter', I authored more books, which were better written, and 'A Father's Daughter', deserved to be upgraded to do it justice. The story is emotional, traumatising, uplifting, and involves a roller-coaster of emotions, and it is one of my best books. - Stephen Bradley-Waters 'The story is beautifully written.... one of love between a father and daughter. No matter the struggle, the father continued to battle everything to get his child back to the life she loved... I recommend this book to everyone. It's in my top 5 reads.' - Goodreads reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In this heartbreaking true story, the abduction of his daughter has a father on an emotional and difficult journey through Family Court in pursuit of justice. The battle is bitter and brutal, with the child stuck in the middle of a heartless and inept UK legal system. Constant and baseless accusations from the mother further derail proceedings, causing delays and torment for their daughter. This story is about courage, angst, perseverance, selfishness, love, and pain. Two sides rival for the residency of their daughter. One trying to bring her back home to the life she adores. The other is starting a new life in an unfamiliar location many miles away from family and friends. Readers are passionate about A Father's Daughter: 'A book that takes you on a heartfelt journey that only a parent can imagine... the only important thing to the author is seeing his daughter be happy... would definitely recommend.' - Amazon UK reviewer, 5 stars 'A Father's love is a mighty thing... This is a story of a father fighting the world for his daughter. It's traumatic and sad to see the story plan out... A great read' - Goodreads reviewer, 5 stars 'While reading this detailed memoir I felt as though I was right there as the events unfolded... Blindsided and accused Stephen never loses hope' - Goodreads reviewer, 4 stars 'This is a true story, straight from the heart... It was interesting to hear the story from the dad’s point of view... He is simply a doting dad who wants what is best, both practically and emotionally for his child and is prepared to sacrifice his own quality of life to achieve this... To anyone experiencing a similar situation, whether male or female, I would definitely recommend you read this.' - Goodreads reviewer, 4 stars 'A truly tear-jerking insight into the authors' life' - Goodreads reviewer, 4 stars.
