Book Synopsis A More Beautiful Question by : Warren Berger
Download or read book A More Beautiful Question written by Warren Berger and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To get the best answer-in business, in life-you have to ask the best possible question. Innovation expert Warren Berger shows that ability is both an art and a science. It may be the most underappreciated tool at our disposal, one we learn to use well in infancy-and then abandon as we grow older. Critical to learning, innovation, success, even to happiness-yet often discouraged in our schools and workplaces-it can unlock new business opportunities and reinvent industries, spark creative insights at many levels, and provide a transformative new outlook on life. It is the ability to question-and to do so deeply, imaginatively, and “beautifully.” In this fascinating exploration of the surprising power of questioning, innovation expert Warren Berger reveals that powerhouse businesses like Google, Nike, and Netflix, as well as hot Silicon Valley startups like Pandora and Airbnb, are fueled by the ability to ask fundamental, game-changing questions. But Berger also shares human stories of people using questioning to solve everyday problems-from “How can I adapt my career in a time of constant change?” to “How can I step back from the daily rush and figure out what really makes me happy?” By showing how to approach questioning with an open, curious mind and a willingness to work through a series of “Why,” “What if,” and “How” queries, Berger offers an inspiring framework of how we can all arrive at better solutions, fresh possibilities, and greater success in business and life.

Book Synopsis Stupid Questions by : Philippe Corentin
Download or read book Stupid Questions written by Philippe Corentin and published by Firefly Books. This book was released on 2018-09 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You would think it's obvious. Who hasn't heard "Well, that's a stupid question"? This inviting little book will amuse children who enjoy silliness and we don't think there is one that doesn't. Amusing illustrations of 23 scenarios pulled from real life and from, we'll call it, exaggerated real life. And what child, and adult, doesn't exaggerate from time to time? Are you in a hurry? says the person behind the bathroom door. Too sick for school? Dad asks the spotted green child. Is it too hot? Mom asks the person in the shower. You don't like it? Mom asks from underneath a plate of spaghetti. Some are possible. A few are probable. But most are definitely impossible, except in a child's imagination. So that means they are most certainly funny.

Book Synopsis Jewish Biblical Legends by : Joel S. Allen
Download or read book Jewish Biblical Legends written by Joel S. Allen and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book introduces Christian readers of the Bible to the otherworldly way in which the rabbis of ancient times interpreted sacred texts. You will discover how the rabbis sought to keep their congregations engaged by telling tales, parables about the Bible. Sometimes they made up whole new background stories that do not appear in Scripture but shed light on it. They were gifted storytellers, and sometimes--almost like Doc in Back to the Future--crazy but brilliant inventers. And like Marty McFly, we can climb into this literary DeLorean and speed back to a time when sages saw things in Scripture that we could never see. Their interpretive insights were based upon immense knowledge of what we call the Old Testament. This knowledge they employed to keep the congregations engaged and informed. They may end up doing the same for us if we listen to what they have to teach us."

They refused her right to lead, yet the guild was solidly behind her. Leaving the great hall with her as un-inaugurated leader, a rift had been caused between the elves. Book Synopsis Mathematical Encounters of the Second Kind by : Philip J. Davis
Download or read book Mathematical Encounters of the Second Kind written by Philip J. Davis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of years ago, Harriet Sheridan, then Dean of Brown University, organized a series oflectures in which individual faculty members described how it came about that they entered their various fields. I was invited to participate in this series and found in the invitation an opportunity to recall events going back to my early teens. The lecture was well received and its reception encouraged me to work up an expanded version. My manuscript lay dormant all these years. In the meanwhile, sufficiently many other mathematical experiences and encounters accumulated to make this little book. My 1981 lecture is the basis of the first piece: "Napoleon's Theorem. " Although there is a connection between the first piece and the second, the four pieces here are essentially independent. The sec ond piece, "Carpenter and the Napoleon Ascription," has as its object a full description of a certain type of scholar-storyteller (of whom I have known and admired several). It is a pastiche, contain ing a salad bar selection blended together by my own imagination. This piece purports, as a secondary goal, to present a solution to a certain unsolved historical problem raised in the first piece. The third piece, "The Man Who Began His Lectures with 'Namely'," is a short reminiscence of Stefan Bergman, one of my teachers of graduate mathematics. Bergman, a remarkable person ality, was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1939.
