Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The M1917 Enfield, formally named "United States rifle, cal .30, Model of 1917" was an American modification of the British .303 caliber P14 rifle developed and manufactured from 1917-1918. The Enfield rifle was noted for several design features. It was designed with a rear receiver aperture sight, protected by sturdy "ears," a design that proved to be faster and more accurate than the typical mid-barrel sight. Future American rifles, such as the 1903-A3 Springfield, M1 and M1 Carbine would all use such receiver sights. The M1917 sight was situated on an elongated receiver bridge, which added weight to the action, as well as lengthening the bolt. The M1917 action proved very strong, and was used as the basis for a variety of commercial and gunsmith-made sporting rifles in standard and magnum calibers between the world wars and after. Today, the Enfield is used as a ceremonial and drilling rifle. For battle purposes, the Danish still use the M1917 as a service weapon due to the high reliability of the bolt-action rifle in harsh conditions. Created in 1942, this field manual reveals a great deal about the M1917's design and capabilities. Intended as a field manual for operation and maintenance, it details gun assembly, marksmanship techniques, accessories, and much more. Originally labeled restricted, this manual was declassified long ago and is here reprinted in book form. Care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text.

This book was released on 2019-02-06 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication, Field Manual FM 1-05 Religious Support January 2019, is a key integrating publication that links the doctrine for the Chaplain Corps with Army and joint doctrine. FM 1-05 provides operational guidance for commands and religious support personnel at all echelons and forms the foundation for all United States Army Chaplain Center and School curricula. This manual contains four chapters. Chapter 1 describes religious support foundations, including the historical precedents for the Army Chaplain Corps as well as its roles, missions, and functions. Chapter 2 delineates the current operational environment, including the requirement to provide religious support across the range of military operations. Chapter 3 details the execution of religious support at the different echelons of command within our Army. Chapter 4 depicts planning for religious support across the conflict continuum using the operations process. The principles of Army religious support doctrine presented in this manual enable chaplains and religious affairs specialists to apply creative, flexible, and innovative approaches to specific missions and operational environments. Chaplains and religious affairs specialists serving in a joint force land component command or a joint task force should refer to JP 3-0, Joint Operations, JG 1-05, Religious Affairs in Joint Operations, and other joint planning publications for further guidance. FM 1-05 is nested with JP 3-0 and JG 1-05. The Army is the principal land force, organized, trained, and equipped to conduct prompt and sustained operations on land. The Army is responsible for deploying forces at any time, in any environment, against any adversary and must be able to operate for extended periods across the range of military operations. In order to support the free exercise of religion within the Army, chaplain sections and unit ministry teams must be able to function within operational environments possessing a full range of threats. Chaplain sections and unit ministry teams sustain Soldiers across the range of military operations; from military engagement, security cooperation, and deterrence, to crisis response and limited contingency operations, to large-scale combat operations. Everything the Army does for our nation is done by Soldiers who are supported by their Family members. The principles of Army religious support doctrine presented in this field manual enable chaplain sections and unit ministry teams to apply creative, flexible, and innovative approaches to specific missions and operational environments as it supports the Soldier and Family. Chaplains have served in the U.S. Army since the first days of the American Revolution and many have died in combat. These chaplains represented more than 120 separate denominations and faith groups from across America. Seven chaplains have been awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty. Many chaplains and religious affairs specialists have received other medals for valor. The personal needs of Soldiers, the mission at hand, their own faith, and emerging religious support doctrine, guided these chaplains and religious affairs specialists as they met the goal to uphold the free exercise of religion guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 3.5-inch rocket launcher, also known as the super bazooka, was introduced in early 1950 and saw considerable action throughout the Korean War. The success of the powerful German Panzerschreck 88mm anti-tank rocket caused the United States to completely rethink the bazooka at the close of World War II. Based on the Panzerschreck's design, the M20 was significantly larger than the 2.36-inch bazooka of WWII.Though bearing a superficial resemblance to the Nazi weapon, the M20 had greater effective range, power and accuracy. The M20 was a two-piece, smooth-bore weapon weighing only twelve pounds with an assembled length of sixty inches. It fired a "shaped charge" that concentrated the force of the explosion on a very small area, thus allowing the projectile to penetrate armor plate as thick as eleven inches. It boasted a range of up to 900 yards. In addition to the M20 model, the Army produced further developments designated M20A1/A1B1 and M20B1. Similar to the M20, they boasted various simplified components including latch assemblies, and in the case of the M20B1 aluminum barrels. Created in 1961, this field manual reveals a great deal about the 3.5-inch rocket launcher M20A1 and M20A1B1's design and capabilities. Intended as a manual for those charged with operation and maintenance, it details many aspects of its controls, ammunition and sighting equipment. Originally labeled restricted, this manual was declassified long ago and is here reprinted in book form. Care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Army sniper is a specially selected volunteer highly trained in advanced marksmanship and Fieldcraft skills. He can support special operations missions and is able to engage selected targets from concealed positions at ranges and under conditions that are not possible for the normal rifleman. The sniper's skill acts as a force multiplier, where the mission is two-fold: (1) to eliminate high-value tactical targets on the battlefield, and (2) act as observer gathering intelligence. Field Manual 23-10 provides doctrinal guidance on the mission, personnel, organization, equipment, training, skills, and employment of the Sniper. This manual is intended for use by commanders, staffs, instructors, and soldiers at training posts, United States Army schools, and units. FM 23-10 addresses three distinct audiences: Commanders. It provides specific guidance on the nature, role, candidate selection, organization, and employment of sniper personnel. Trainers. It provides a reference for developing training programs. Snipers. It contains detailed information on the fundamental knowledge, skills, and employment methods of snipers throughout the entire operational continuum."
