Download or read book Phenomenology of Two Higgs Doublet Models with Flavor Changing Neutral Currents written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive phenomenological analysis of a two Higgs doublet model, with flavor changing scalar currents at the tree level, called model III, is presented. Constraints from existing experimental information especially on?F=2 processes are systematically incorporated. Constraints emerging from rare B-decays, Z → b{anti b}, and the?-parameter are also examined. Experimental implications for ee (?+?) → t{anti c} + {anti t}c, t → c?(Z, g), D°-{anti D}°, and B{sub s}°-{anti B}{sub s}° oscillations, and for e+e (Z) → b{anti s} + {anti b}s are investigated and experimental effort towards these is stressed. They also emphasize the importance of clarifying the experimental issues pertaining to Z → b{anti b}.

Download or read book Signals from Flavor Changing Scalar Currents at the Future Colliders written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a general phenomenological analysis of a class of Two Higgs Doublet Models with Flavor Changing Neutral Currents arising at the tree level. The existing constraints mainly affect the couplings of the first two generations of quarks, leaving the possibility for non negligible Flavor Changing couplings of the top quark open. The next generation of lepton and hadron colliders will offer the right environment to study the physics of the top quark and to unravel the presence of new physics beyond the Standard Model. In this context we discuss some interesting signals from Flavor Changing Scalar Neutral Currents.
Book Synopsis Renormalization Group Constraints on the Two-Higgs Doublet Model by :
Download or read book Renormalization Group Constraints on the Two-Higgs Doublet Model written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We examine the constraints on the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) due to the stability of the scalar potential and absence of Landau poles at energy scales below the Planck scale. We employ the most general 2HDM that incorporates an approximately Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson with a flavor-aligned Yukawa sector to eliminate potential tree-level Higgs-mediated flavor-changing neutral currents. Using basis independent techniques, we exhibit regimes of the 2HDM parameter space with a 125 GeV SM-like Higgs boson that is stable and perturbative up to the Planck scale. Implications for the heavy scalar spectrum are exhibited.
Book Synopsis Perspectives On Higgs Physics Ii by : Gordon Kane
Download or read book Perspectives On Higgs Physics Ii written by Gordon Kane and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-12-04 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Standard Model of particle physics is extremely successful in describing nature. It is, however, incomplete in one major way: the masses of gauge bosons and fermions enter the Standard Model through the Higgs mechanism. That is completely satisfactory technically, but it is not understood physically. We do not yet know what nature really does to give mass to particles. Understanding Higgs physics is necessary in order to complete the Standard Model, and to learn how to extend it and improve its foundations. This book is a collection of current work and thinking about these questions by active workers. It speculates about what form the answers will take, as well as updates and extends previous books and reviews. Some chapters emphasize theoretical questions, some focus on connections with other areas of physics, and some discuss how we can get data to uncover nature's solution. This second edition adds information and insights from the last five years, including the recent indirect but statistically significant evidence for the existence of a Higgs boson from precision measurements. It contains contributions from Blondel, Quiros, Haber, Pokorski, Dawson, Janot, Mrenna, Gunion, Ibanez, Ross, Bigi, Carena, Wagner, Georgi, Chanowitz, Yuan, Hill, and others.
Book Synopsis Lectures on LHC Physics by : Tilman Plehn
Download or read book Lectures on LHC Physics written by Tilman Plehn and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-05 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the discovery of the Higgs boson, the LHC experiments have closed the most important gap in our understanding of fundamental interactions, confirming that such interactions between elementary particles can be described by quantum field theory, more specifically by a renormalizable gauge theory. This theory is a priori valid for arbitrarily high energy scales and does not require an ultraviolet completion. Yet, when trying to apply the concrete knowledge of quantum field theory to actual LHC physics - in particular to the Higgs sector and certain regimes of QCD - one inevitably encounters an intricate maze of phenomenological know-how, common lore and other, often historically developed intuitions about what works and what doesn’t. These lectures cover three aspects to help understand LHC results in the Higgs sector and in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model: they discuss the many facets of Higgs physics, which is at the core of this significantly expanded second edition; then QCD, to the degree relevant for LHC measurements; as well as further standard phenomenological background knowledge. They are intended to serve as a brief but sufficiently detailed primer on LHC physics to enable graduate students and all newcomers to the field to find their way through the more advanced literature, and to help those starting to work in this very timely and exciting field of research. Advanced readers will benefit from this course-based text for their own lectures and seminars. .

History will mark the 1973 decisive experiments as the turning point of a new era in theoretical and experimental physics. The participants in the discovery retrace its circumstances and genesis, and all the present aspects of its heritage are reviewed: particle physics (the standard model has to date not been invalidated by the most precise experiments at LEP), atomic physics and astrophysics.
