Book Synopsis The Ride of a Lifetime by : Robert Iger
Download or read book The Ride of a Lifetime written by Robert Iger and published by Random House. This book was released on 2019-09-23 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A memoir of leadership and success: The executive chairman of Disney, Time’s 2019 businessperson of the year, shares the ideas and values he embraced during his fifteen years as CEO while reinventing one of the world’s most beloved companies and inspiring the people who bring the magic to life. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR Robert Iger became CEO of The Walt Disney Company in 2005, during a difficult time. Competition was more intense than ever and technology was changing faster than at any time in the company’s history. His vision came down to three clear ideas: Recommit to the concept that quality matters, embrace technology instead of fighting it, and think bigger—think global—and turn Disney into a stronger brand in international markets. Today, Disney is the largest, most admired media company in the world, counting Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox among its properties. Its value is nearly five times what it was when Iger took over, and he is recognized as one of the most innovative and successful CEOs of our era. In The Ride of a Lifetime, Robert Iger shares the lessons he learned while running Disney and leading its 220,000-plus employees, and he explores the principles that are necessary for true leadership, including: • Optimism. Even in the face of difficulty, an optimistic leader will find the path toward the best possible outcome and focus on that, rather than give in to pessimism and blaming. • Courage. Leaders have to be willing to take risks and place big bets. Fear of failure destroys creativity. • Decisiveness. All decisions, no matter how difficult, can be made on a timely basis. Indecisiveness is both wasteful and destructive to morale. • Fairness. Treat people decently, with empathy, and be accessible to them. This book is about the relentless curiosity that has driven Iger for forty-five years, since the day he started as the lowliest studio grunt at ABC. It’s also about thoughtfulness and respect, and a decency-over-dollars approach that has become the bedrock of every project and partnership Iger pursues, from a deep friendship with Steve Jobs in his final years to an abiding love of the Star Wars mythology. “The ideas in this book strike me as universal” Iger writes. “Not just to the aspiring CEOs of the world, but to anyone wanting to feel less fearful, more confidently themselves, as they navigate their professional and even personal lives.”
Book Synopsis You Only Fall in Love Three Times by : Kate Rose
Download or read book You Only Fall in Love Three Times written by Kate Rose and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2020-01-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the three types of love--and the key to finding the one you're truly meant to be with. We love and we love again -- sometimes our hearts get broken but, somehow, we find the courage to dive back in. In this soul-searching book, relationship expert Kate Rose guides readers down the path to a deeper understanding of who they are, what they want, and finally, to the discovery of their Twin Flame. According to Rose, love is a journey of self-discovery and every relationship we have in our lives teaches us something that we need to learn about ourselves and what will make us truly happy. She introduces readers to the three types of love we will all experience: The Soulmate introduces us to the dream of love, but somehow what seemed like it would be "happily ever after" wasn't meant to last forever. We are so consumed with making The Karmic Love work that we often fail to question whether it should work. As painful as it is to accept, this love that felt so right in the beginning is actually all wrong. The Twin Flame comes into our lives and often we don't even know it's love because . . . it's too easy. This is the love who helps us to accept ourselves just as we are because this is precisely what they do. In You Only Fall in Love Three Times, Kate Rose shows us that happy endings may not happen quite the way they do in fairytales-- but they happen nonetheless.
Download or read book Mrs. Dalloway written by Virginia Woolf and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2023-12-16 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf's fourth novel, offers the reader an impression of a single June day in London in 1923. Clarissa Dalloway, the wife of a Conservative member of parliament, is preparing to give an evening party, while the shell-shocked Septimus Warren Smith hears the birds in Regent's Park chattering in Greek. There seems to be nothing, except perhaps London, to link Clarissa and Septimus. She is middle-aged and prosperous, with a sheltered happy life behind her; Smith is young, poor, and driven to hatred of himself and the whole human race. Yet both share a terror of existence, and sense the pull of death. The world of Mrs Dalloway is evoked in Woolf's famous stream of consciousness style, in a lyrical and haunting language which has made this, from its publication in 1925, one of her most popular novels.

Book Synopsis Squeezing Birth into Working Life by : Cécile Wetzels
Download or read book Squeezing Birth into Working Life written by Cécile Wetzels and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-06-04 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2001. Increasingly, young women throughout Europe educate themselves for a life-long labour market career. So, where does birth fit into a young woman's curriculum vitae? This book takes a welfare state comparative perspective on this issue, analyzing relevant macro policies from four countries whose political views on the combination of work and family differ, namely Germany, Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden. The effects of these macro policies on the micro economic labour market and fertility behaviour are also examined using household panel data from each country. For this purpose, all available information from the four countries has been organized into fertility and work histories on a month-to-month basis around the date of giving birth. Within the welfare state comparative framework, hypotheses on women's labour market transitions in connection with childbirth, women's share in joint family earnings around the birth of the first and the second child, the timing of having a first and subsequent child are derived from economic theory on human capital and labour supply.

Book Synopsis He Speaks in the Silence by : Diane Comer
Download or read book He Speaks in the Silence written by Diane Comer and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He Speaks in the Silence is about Diane Comer’s search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us. Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And He did. But first He took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf. Using vivid parallels between her deafness and every woman’s struggle to hear God, this book shows women not only how Diane, as a deaf woman, hears in everyday life, but also how she can learn to listen to God in the midst of her own loud life, finding intimacy with God and the deep soul satisfaction she longs for.
Book Synopsis A Numerology Book to Treasure by : Sarah A. Schweitzer PH.D.
Download or read book A Numerology Book to Treasure written by Sarah A. Schweitzer PH.D. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-02-04 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerology, simply put, is the application of key words, characteristics, attributes, thoughts and phrases that are associated to a specific number and letter of the alphabet. This association becomes a formula that is applied to any name, birth date, or event. The number and letter formula can define personality traits and characteristics that an individual may portray throughout their life. This is called ones numerology signature. The numerology formula can also be applied to important dates, addresses, phone numbers, and other important events in ones life to determine the compatibility of the event to ones personal numerology signature. This formula can also be applied to compare the compatibility between individuals. When applying the formula, it is easy to see who will show leadership traits in work group teams, or who will take control or be submissive when interacting with others. Numerology can also be applied to employment, personal, and romantic situations. It can be used as an insightful tool when blending families where children are concerned. The application of numerology in life is endless and provides insightful peeks into potential areas of life that are important to you. For example, when planning a future event, such as choosing a date for a wedding, the chosen date defines the numerology signature of the event and can have a lasting effect upon the marriage union. When applying numerology formulas to birth dates and life events, specific cycles emerge. These cycles can be identified and formulas applied to them that can offer valuable insights that last for the entire cycle of time. The knowledge within this book is everything you will ever need to know to become an expert at numerology!
