Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I firmly believe that all people are poets; also I think that most poets never write for anyone but themselves. Writing poetry will save a bright mind a fortune, for you will never need a therapist when you write from your heart. The work is highly personal, emotional, and sinks deep into the very essence of the soul of the writer. That being said, I hope that you read and enjoy Fireflies From Orion, this being a selection composed of over fifty years of my writing prose. There are sad poems, happy poems, spiritual writings, emotion-evoking words...as all poetry should be. Fireflies is poetry truly from the heart, not written to appease the strictest school of composition, not please those with whom iambic pentameter is a requirement along with every line to rhyme....you will not find that in Fireflies. You will find raw poetry, prose of both regular and irregular rhythm, words that hopefully will paint pictures and evoke memories in your mind from times long ago, now gone
Book Synopsis Fission Population by : Clay Sherrod
Download or read book Fission Population written by Clay Sherrod and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-04-20 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As early as 2030 the Arctic Ocean could lose essentially all of its ice during the warmest months of the year?a radical transformation that would destroy virtually all of the Arctic ecosystems and disrupt or destroy many northern communities, if not many communities along the coastal areas of Earth. Even now concentrations of Greenhouse gases are rising dramatically ? because of mankind's industry as well as human overpopulation leading to the destruction of the cycle of photosynthesis. The human of Earth seems to be leading its own extinction. Has the cycle reached its ?critical mass? and now unable to be reversed? Will popular social efforts such as ?Going Green? help in any way whatsoever at this point in a global evolutionary crisis? In only a few ? perhaps two ? generations of the human race might we know the answers to whether the human race will have a planet capable of sustaining life without ever leaving this world.
Download or read book The Naked Boy written by Clay Sherrod and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-10-17 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being one of millions of the Baby Boomer generation, I not only did my part in overpopulating the world, but also watched the remarkable transition of society and the world in general as my body and mind grew. Holding on to small mysteries and things that I did not want to lose from my life, I essentially have never grown up, and after nearly seventy years have acclimated to the fact I will never - ever - grow up, no matter what older people tell me to do. These are the life stories of a boy growing older while the world of technology emerged. As this transition marched on, this boy saw his world around him transform from a world in which imagination - fantasy - led to intellectual growth, to a new generation possessed with the idea that their lives are dependent on technology. Computers, smart phones, devices - all have taken the place of creativity. Lessons of the Naked Boy are life's simple philosophies that we must remember to keep from becoming victims of our own technology.

Today's non-professional astronomers with well-equipped observatories - advanced amateurs, colleges, institutions - are now contributing more than ever to fascinating discoveries throughout space. These private facilities now contribute thousands of observations and discoveries yearly into the scientific database. One such endeavor is that of supernovae searches, exploring distant galaxies in wait for these rare stellar explosions seen from millions of light years away. But where do we look? Current sources were lacking to detail the process of discovering and reporting these events, as was a study plan with suggested objects for monitoring. SUPERNOVA Search Atlas and Guide fills this void with over 300 carefully selected galaxies, photographed from the Arkansas Sky Observatories over a three year period. This study guide takes the guesswork out of discovery and provides the ultimate blueprint for your next discovery.

Progress of our modern world has led to the shadow of ""Political Correctness"" - every word written and spoken must be weighed lest someone will be insulted. In this little book, is a very curious selection of tales and thoughts - philosophies perhaps - that are true stories that should offend no one. Yet in the course of these writings, when presented as opinion in newspapers around the United States, each of these has found someone who has been overwhelmed with my careless use of my imagination or choice of words. Hopefully you will find value, fun and humor in this ""Curious Collection of Politically Incorrect Opinions and Thoughts. If you do not find value, fun and humor in your readings, then you might want to change political parties. Or stay in bed.

Book Synopsis Rocks of Prehistory: The Gumlog Creek Rockshelter by : Clay Sherrod
Download or read book Rocks of Prehistory: The Gumlog Creek Rockshelter written by Clay Sherrod and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-08-22 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the most unusual of all Arkansas rock shelters - homes for our aboriginal residents - is the Gumlog Creek Rockshelter. Occupied for thousands of years, this site demonstrates prehistoric ethnology from the end of the last ice age to the time of first contact by European explorers. The Arkansas River Valley Indian Rock Art Project began for the author in 1980. It resulted in the cataloging of nearly 700 rock shelters throughout Arkansas which demonstrate some form of aboriginal rock art and/or evidence of prehistoric occupation. Analysis of its artifacts reveal a very long span of occupation, from Archaic through Woodland Periods of cultural influence. This association suggests that the glyphs of these shelters were contemporaneous. In addition, the impressive shelter atop Carrion Crow Mountain in Arkansas, along Gumlog Creek, a feeder creek into the Arkansas River, is associated to one of the most unusual and intricate rock carvings in North America, the Gumlog Creek Petroglyph.
Book Synopsis Living Well Now and in the Future by : Randall Curren
Download or read book Living Well Now and in the Future written by Randall Curren and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A philosopher and a scientist propose that sustainability can be understood as living well together without diminishing opportunity to live well in the future. Most people acknowledge the profound importance of sustainability, but few can define it. We are ethically bound to live sustainably for the sake of future generations, but what does that mean? In this book Randall Curren, a philosopher, and Ellen Metzger, a scientist, clarify normative aspects of sustainability. Combining their perspectives, they propose that sustainability can be understood as the art of living well together without diminishing opportunity to live well in the future. Curren and Metzger lay out the nature and value of sustainability, survey the problems, catalog the obstacles, and identify the kind of efforts needed to overcome them. They formulate an ethic of sustainability with lessons for government, organizations, and individuals, and illustrate key ideas with three case studies. Curren and Metzger put intergenerational justice at the heart of sustainability; discuss the need for fair (as opposed to coercive) terms of cooperation to create norms, institutions, and practices conducive to sustainability; formulate a framework for a fundamental ethic of sustainability derived from core components of common morality; and emphasize the importance of sustainability education. The three illustrative case studies focus on the management of energy, water, and food systems, examining the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Australia's National Water Management System, and patterns of food production in the Mekong region of Southeast Asia.

Book Synopsis You Twit Face: Your Complete Guide to Nomophobia by : Clay Sherrod
Download or read book You Twit Face: Your Complete Guide to Nomophobia written by Clay Sherrod and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-11-10 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nomophobia - the fear of having our phones taken from us - is taking over our lives. The smart devices are in our homes, carried room-to-room as if glued to the hands of our family members. They meander into the bathroom, the laundry room, the shop, the garage, backyard and even into the bedroom where the adults once had their "alone time." Our teenage children require them to either be under their pillows, by their pillows or within arm's reach at a nightstand in order to even sleep at night. The cell phone must be visible for them to take tests at school without withdrawal anxiety. The phones travel where we do - school, the office, the gym, so that we are in constant contact with the virtual world - other people who also have no real lives outside of their phone. They are ringing in churches, movie theaters, restaurants, concerts, funerals. Nothing says "goodbye" to the recently departed like your ring tone from Metallica's Hardwired. Welcome to the world of smart phone addiction.
Book Synopsis A Town Called Babylon by : Roderick Cyr
Download or read book A Town Called Babylon written by Roderick Cyr and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-06-20 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Orwell had it wrong. The heavy hand of oppressive government, operating in isolation, isn't the greatest risk to freedom and individuality. It's society itself - working in concert with powerful institutions like corporations, academia, and the media - that represents the biggest threat to truth, liberty and self-determination. Dr. Philly Love spends her weeks working as a neurosurgeon and weekends offering free medical care to the indigent out of a rusty RV she converted into a mobile medical clinic. But her unwillingness to embrace as truth the pronouncements of the Intellectual Council and her fiery rejection of society's worldview has placed her in the crosshairs of two of Babylon's most powerful figures. Browning Dillon refuses to conform as well, though as worship pastor at Babylon Community Church he struggles against the worldview embraced by his congregation, which he fears increasingly mirrors the culture more than it does Scripture. When Philly and Browning meet at a neighborhood barbecue, sparks fly. As they draw closer they find themselves targeted by dark forces masquerading as angels of light - powers determined to destroy them and unify the world under one banner. Drawing on biblical prophecy and emerging social trends, Roderick Cyr has painted a future so realistic you could wake up to it tomorrow. It is at once frightening and hopeful, cautionary and insightful.
