Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three swoony cowboys, three bestselling standalone romances, one collection from Kim Loraine's Sunrise, Montana world. SADDLE UP He's a handsome cowboy trying to save his family's ranch. I'm a reality TV producer with a brilliant plan. Sparks fly when Clint Ryker strikes a deal with me that brings me to the ranch to learn the ropes. But when we get snowed in together, with only one bed, everything changes. BUCKED OFF A word of advice. Don't fall in love with your fake fiancée. When the producer of my family's reality show, Saddle Up, tried to get me to participate in an on-screen scripted romance, I saw only one way out. I told them I was unavailable—engaged, to be exact. That meant I needed a fake fiancée, pronto. Enter spitfire, and the girl who got away once upon a time, Penny Callahan. It should be harmless. Pretend to be together until the show is done shooting, then move on with our lives. But living with the woman of my dreams and playing the part of lovesick fool is easy for reasons I don't want to admit. And I don't want to let her go. RIDDEN HARD Baby daddy (noun) slang The cowboy who knocked me up after one night together. They call me the wild one. The Ryker brother who'd rather have more notches on his bedpost than rodeo championships. I'm good with horses, even better with women. I've been warned that sowing my oats might have consequences, but I'm always careful. And there's nothing wrong with having a little fun. But the truth is, I want more than fun. I want it all. With the right girl. So when the most beautiful woman I've ever seen shows up at my ranch, it should all fall into place. Except she's got a big surprise for me. She's pregnant, and the kid is mine, but she wants nothing to do with me.

Book excerpt: Fake fiancee rule #1: Don't fall in love. When a reality show comes knocking, you take their offer. That’s exactly what we did, and now our cattle ranch has become a dude ranch. But the producers want more from me than to teach these city slickers how to saddle up. They want me to play the part of Romeo in an on-screen romance. Until I tell them I’m engaged. Too bad that’s a bold-faced lie. Now I have to find a willing participant in my charade for the next twelve weeks and my friend has the perfect solution. She’s gorgeous, smart, and sexy as sin—and she’s agreed to fake our engagement, for a price. If making it look real is as fun as I think it’ll be, I’m in trouble. Because this woman might be the one who tames my wild side.

Book excerpt: Some people may think romance is dead. It isnt; it has just changed, along with the society we inhabit. Though this story would be viewed as a gay romance, that is not my main motivation in writing this book. It is intended to explore relationships in general. All relationships are different and unique. What is it that makes them work or not work? Synergy explores relationships through observations and comments via the many conversations and personal introspections and reflections of the two main characters. The two central characters are an aging, very private, and semi-introverted Australian writer and a handsome young Spanish artist. Their personal histories, environments, family influences, and important life experiences are explored and discussed. What shaped these two people into who they now are? Why does their unlikely relationship seem to work so well? When by all reasonable logic, it most probably shouldnt. This is the second volume in a trilogy. It continues on from the first published volume, Serendipity, where they meet on the Greek Island of Skopelos and are rapidly drawn together in a surprising and unforeseen set of circumstances. Synergy follows their developing and deepening relationship as they travel extensively. First in Spain, where they marry; then to London, for an exhibition of the artists works; Australia; and finally sail from Spain back to their new villa on Skopelos. There is the occasional glitch and questioning concerning their relationship, but it ends quite positively as the two move into and set up their new villa overlooking the magnificent Aegean Sea. The continuation and evolution of their story and relationship in the third volume is alluded to in the last chapter. Each volume is written as a separate and complete story that may be read on their own or in sequence. Murray James

Book excerpt: Esme Oliver, author of Smoke, Drink, F@#K, brings us this collection of sharp new essays that crystallize -- as only Oliver can -- the highs and lows of a woman dating in her 30s. Sometimes cringe-worthy, always hilarious, this stories go beyond the run-of-the-mill rom-com fantasies and lay bare what it means to be a strong, sensitive woman who is determined not to settle for less than she deserves. Oliver's experiences, which include two separate experiences with sexual harassment -- one which occurred in the U.S. Senate -- bring a clear-eyed levity to the realities of being a grown-ass woman in a #MeToo world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Narrative criticism is a relatively recent development that applies literary methods to the study of Scripture. James Resseguie suggests that this approach to reading the Bible treats the text as a self-contained unit and avoids complications raised by other critical methods of interpretation. Resseguie begins with an introductory chapter that surveys the methods of narrative criticism and how they can be used to discover important nuances of meaning through what he describes as a "close reading" of the text. He then devotes chapters to the principal rhetorical devices: setting, point of view, character, rhetoric, plot, and reader. Readers will find here an accessible introduction to the subject of narrative criticism and a richly rewarding approach to reading the Bible.

Book excerpt: Women’s Health in Britain and America: Texts and Contexts offers an unparalleled record of women’s health in the United Kingdom and the United States since 1750. Through chapters on pregnancy and childbirth, contraception and abortion, and breast and gynecological cancers, today’s readers can better understand historical precedents for contemporary issues. Introductory overviews present context about the history of medical care for women, such as diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions, medical advances, social and political contexts, and the effects of these on their lived experiences. The book presents a collection of primary texts including archival memoirs, letters, and diaries as well as published fiction, poetry, and medical advice. Women’s Health in Britain and America provides the necessary background for those new to the subject while also offering unique texts that will engage those already immersed in the field. As the political and social discussions around women’s bodies become more contentious and consequential, the history and the multiplicity of voices presented on these pages are more important than ever.

However, there is more to the story. The “Horseman” may be responsible for over fifty murders where each victim has been beheaded—and the heads never found. This includes a past secretary of state, which prompts calls to be made at the highest levels of law enforcement, the formation of a special task force headed by the FBI and the recruitment of CIA Agent, Jedadiah Flynn who sometimes is “loaned out” to the FBI on particularly bizarre cases. Everyone seems to have secrets and Flynn’s involvement with the daughter of one of the victims makes things personal. Especially when the biggest secret of all is revealed on Christmas Eve. And just what is the organization known as “The 34”?
